Great products and service all under one roof. Friendly staff. Clean store. I was impressed with their gun and rifle selection. Also, they have a great selection of running shoes. I found great lightweight rocking chairs for my parents. I read some of the negative comments, but my experience was good and typical of sporting goods stores.

If I could give less stars I would. I went in to make a payment at the customer service desk where there were at least 6 employees standing around talking. I asked to make a payment and was told I needed to go to the cashier line. Mind you it's right before Christmas and the line was clear to the back of the store. I told her I just want to make a payment, her response was..... not her problem, go wait in line...

Having been a patron since the store opened its door comes easy with the excellent professional services the staff provides along with the constant sales timely that thay are makes each visit a pleasant shopping experiece. The people there in make the store awesome.

It is getting to be a normal thing to not be able to find someone for assistance. But I did finally find what I needed. I did overhere a manager talking to employees, and it wasn't pretty. I wouldn't work for someone like that. So it's possibly a management problem and not bad help.

Lines at registers were long, but there was enough registers open , so the line was extremely long but the cashiers kept it moving. Just really busy

I have shopped at academy for years and not once have I ever had a problem but today my husband and I were where shopping for yeti items and this horrible lady employee was there being so rude to us and to about 4 other customers. The rudeness was not subtle it was very obvious even her face gestures were so offensive and she seemed to feel good about herself treating other this way. Two other girl employees were watching close by and she even told them in a sarcastic way that “she was being nice”. Another lady next to us told us she couldn’t believe the way this lady was acting towards her and I told her I was going to complain because it was too much. It’s not our fault she’s ugly and hates her life. She was and olderish woman with short blonde hair and I can come up to the store and complain in person with the manager if need be along with my husband to confirm who this person is and how she spoke to us to see if she has the audacity to treat us the same way. She was so rude and ghetto and didn’t even let us and the other people shop because the other people were upset too.

Great place to find the perfect shoe. You can try on as many as you like and nobody will bother you, however if you need help staff if always available.

I needed a regulator for a camping stove. Three different employees insisted they didn’t carry any replacement parts for camping stoves. I was offered less than 1/3 the value of my stove, but really didn’t want a replacement when mine was still new. Purely by accident while looking at my options, I found the part I needed. Why they couldn’t verify its existence when I went to customer service or asked the different employees I don’t know.

I have always shopped at this Academy but no longer plan to. The young lady w black hair and guy with hard gel in his hair working in "Costumer Service" lack exactly those skills. I nicely let them know I recieved a msg that my order was picked up by someone else, when i told them they seemed annoyed with me as if it was my fault. They spoke so short, rude, and gave me my order and said "YOUR GOOD" as if dismissing me. . Smh

Well I was taking a sound bar back that never worked and I took it to the one in Odessa,Tx which is a town that I go to often bc I work there but live in Midland,Tx just 20 miles away and the manager there which is name was Jose was completely lying through his teeth he told me on electronics I only have 48hrs to return or exchange which I read through policy and not once did I read anything that said anything about a 48 hr policy. I bought it for my husband which works outta town so we've had it for about 3 in a half weeks. I paid close to $500 for or this sound bar so any how I will take it to my local Academy, in a Midland hopefully today. This guys should guy they call a manager should know the return and exchange policies where he works and not just make up his own.

Great variety of sport equipment and shoes. Customer service is so so. I wasn't spoken to until I got to the register. The guy at the register was very friendly. I think the people on the floor needs to be more engaging.

The store is very clean and organized. There's your traditional sporting goods, as well as supplies for kids like Nerf and a large shoe section. And the employees are very friendly and helpful

Sunglasses- I bought a pair of sunglasses for my husband for Father’s Day & specifically asked the guy if he could return them if he didn’t like the pair. Husband tried them on and they were too tight & that is the only time they were out of the box. Returned within 1 week, originally packaging & receipt. Odessa store say they don’t accept returns on sunglasses! That is not printed anywhere on the return policy anywhere! Call the midland store and ask if they accept returns and they say no problem as long as it is within 60 days of purchase. Love academy, but not great experience in Odessa store.

Bought my boyfriend the grill he's been wanting. He was excited to get it in time for the. 4th of July. Got him a pitboss competition series. It was awesome! So happy to give him a gift like this!

Went to buy Brooks shoes and the display was for $89. The boxes under all had the same shoes and when I went to pay it rang up at $119, I told the manager Amber so they would honor the price and she said that she could not honor it, that she was sorry the shoe was priced wrong and shoes were under the display but she would not honor the price. Bate and switch. I told her I would not take any of the items and she said "Have a nice day" and walked off. The cashier looked at me and said I'm really sorry. Will shop online or Midland.

Academy is a very frustrating sporting goods store. They NEVER have exactly what I’m looking for; and tons of junk that I don’t want or need. Cashiers are very pleasant, but the floor staff are very unfriendly and never very helpful. But, it IS Odessa, Tx. So, you can’t expect much.

Good selection of products but only one register was open! Someone kept calling over the PA for other cashier's to respond to checkout but no one seemed to care about helping. There was about 25mins wait at about 6:30pm

Husband went in for charcoal and almost all of the bags were ripped open and charcoal on the floor. Why?!? He walked to the shoe dept and almost every aisle had merch on the floors and the shoe dept wasn’t any better. I know it’s the 4th but you can’t keep your store recovered? Nobody has any work ethic anymore. Sad!
