This places was a little gem, great food and atmosphere. I would recommend. But, unfortunately sometimes this happens and it's not very often, I found small clump of hair in my fries, I did tell the waitresses, from that point it seemed like we were to blame for that, after I notified her, she seemed to have a bad attitude towards, tossing the check book at us as we requested for the check, now, we paid for our ticket of $55 dollars but, I was expecting to at least get something complimentary bc of the hair. But we got none of that or a apology, and even on out way out, we said our thank you and she looked at us and said nothing... I am to say, I didn't leave a tip bc of she acted towards us after we heard so much about MELS, which is way we went to this location, but after that treatment, I don't think we will be making a return trip.

Mels is such an amazing restaurant. Everything we ordered was delightful. The catfish and shrimp were perfectly cooked and flavorful! The stuffed jalapeños were not fried which was a refreshing change from what we normally see on menus. Try the pickle fries! There are so many shake flavors I will need to come back each time we drive by the area, my shake was so good!! The waitstaff were all knowledgeable about the menu and enjoyable to talk with while we ate. We were lucky to come by during the Halloween season and the restaurant was decorated in the spirit of the season!Dietary restrictions: There are many options available for people eating low carb.

My wife and I stopped here for dinner on our day trip through North Texas and we were blown away. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. I had the small CFC with fried okra and coleslaw. She had the Mackie Cheese Burger with fries. Everything was well served and enjoyed. (The coleslaw was a little bland but some salt and pepper fixed it right up.The decorations were adorable and nostalgic prompting many conversations about all the great movies and characters. The customers were "down home" locals who all seemed to know each other and everyone was completely at ease and in no rush. It was nice to see people who can still talk to each other over good food without checking their cell every two minutes.The best was our waitress Madison. She was friendly, attentive, prompt and just everything you could ever want in great wait staff. Thank you Mel's Diner and Madison for a wonderful evening meal.Vegetarian options: Salad options

Tried this place several times. Over $2 for a can of coke. Advertised arcade had no games. Food served cold, then brought back burnt. Nothing special or homemade. Just frozen food you can get anywhere. The atmosphere is neat, lots to look at. Try it for the hand dipped milkshakes, but there are better places to eat...... even in Mingus

A perfect stop in a hot Texas wind. We stopped in after hearing about this diner from a friend. We tried a few milk shakes and the vanilla stole my heart. Thank you for keeping true to your heart and roots. God Bless!Parking: Caliche for miles.Kid-friendliness: It’s eclectic and neat.

We had the Philly cheesesteak and my mom had the shrimp and chicken salad. The cheesesteak was really good. It had Great flavor and the bread stayed toasted and didn’t get soggy, which is a huge texture thing to me. The shrimp and chicken salad was well displayed and my mom said one of the best she has eaten. I recommend the ranch platter for dipping fries that has 5 flavors of Ranch… Dill was my fave. They also have good burgers and about 53 flavors of milk shakes. The waitress and owner were super inviting and the Christmas decor was fun. Aparently, besides the 60’s theme, they decorate for both Christmas and Halloween. Looking forward to my next visit and having some good food!

Went to this place as there are a bunch in the San Francisco area. Same vibe and the karaoke is a welcome addition to the small town. The burger was really good! Had the Greyhound, but the only downfall was that I asked for lettuce and tomato in my burger and didn't get it. Other than that, nice people, welcoming environment would recommend!Parking: Plenty of roomKid-friendliness: Kid options on the menu.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level to entrance. Road isn't paved, dirt clumps and rocks may be encountered.

We stopped for some grub on our way to Dallas & im so glad we did. My kids were able to walk around & look at all the cool things they had. Definitely stop by & support local instead of the fast food chains.. you won't regret it.Kid-friendliness: They have a little arcade & board games available. There is also enough room for them to roam & stretch their body.

Had a Chesapeake bacon burger with fries. Sauce was delicious, burger was juicy & cooked perfectly. Melissa did a great job remodeling & decorating; and our waitress, Carly, was attentive, sharp, outgoing & competent. 13 year olds are a lot more mature & personable than they were back in my day.

God Bless small businesses and small business owners! This place does it RIGHT, and the locals know it. Now you do!Btw, some of the best chicken fried steak I had anywhere...good cut of tenderized beef, savory crusty coating that is perfectly fried and clings well to the meat, AND isn't 3 times larger than the meat!They often have live music performances... check their website or FB page.Kid-friendliness: Family atmosphere.

Thought it was a different place, but ended up being a beautiful mistake.Mel takes cooking her shrimp seriously and it shows. We got the shrimp quesadilla and fried shrimp and each bite was heavenly. Delicious flavor and not even a hint of rubbery chewiness. We will be making return trips to eat our way through her menu.

I had lunch at Mel’s for lunch today and all I can say is WOW! I am sad it’s 120+ miles away. I had the grilled shrimp, green beans and salad and all three unique in great flavor. Service was great and friendly. I love the decor. I will be back.

We were passing through on our way to Dallas and stopped at this little restaurant. The food was good. We had burgers and fries. The burgers were great, but the fries were extremely greasy. We couldn’t eat them. Service was great! We did have a small wait, but nothing too bad. The place itself had very unique and quirky decor. Personally was not a fan, as my children were a bit frightened of the mannequins seated at several tables or seated on top of the tables. Not sure what that was about, but all in all would eat there again!

Had heard of Mel's Diner several times and decided to visit. Shared the spicy grilled chicken breast with broccoli and a salad. Cheese sticks on the side. All was very good. Grilled chicken had just enough spice with stuffed jalapenos wrapped with bacon. Delicious!! Plan on visiting again..

Heck yeah! This place was great! My burger was delicious and the foot long meatball sub was a BIG foot and must have been good because there is no trace of it left behind. Friendly and attentive staff and a fun welcoming vibe. Two thumbs up!
