Really nice and friendly man working the shelter. My only complaint is the number listed is the police department and they don’t seem to like it when you call asking questions because they’re the “police department”. There needs to be a separate line for the shelter.

Why are they called a "Animal Shelter" when they won't take in a animal. That's right, last week I was told they do not take in Animals. What a joke! Good use of tax payers dollars!!!

The number listed is for the Mineola Police Department. Person answering is not good with providing information so you have to help them in order to find out what you need. Also, all pounds are full - if you find a starving stray tell them it came from Mineola bc they won’t take it if it’s coming from outside the city limits. And from the looks of the other reviews - SOMETHING REALLY NEEDS TO BE DONE ON HOW THIS NUMBER IS LISTED AND OR HUMAN SOCIETY THERE IS PRESENTED. AND INFORMATION PROVIDED SHOULD BE LISTED ON INTERNET AS TO THE WHAT, HOW, WHERE,WHEN IS AVAILABLE SO AS TO AVOID A FRUSTRATED PERSON ANSWERING AN INFLUX OF CALLS THEY OBVIOUSLY DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH. IF YOU ARE PUT IN CHARGE OF ANSWERING THE PHONE - BE ADVISED BEFOREHAND WHAT THE JOB DUTY ENTAILS.

Adopted our fur baby there. Was very well cared for and happy. They love their jobs and it reflects in the pets. Great place to go for a fur baby. No kill shelter. They have a garage sale coming up to help with shelter funding. Please try to help them out by attending.

Female officer that works there has a problem with power.I have raccoons and bobcat on my property trying to feed on my chickens I visited with the chief of police and he assured me animal control would be happy to come out and catch my animals but after the 1st visit which went very well with the male officer we placed a call in and they came out the morning after and wrote us a ticket for our chickens being loose when they knew that there was a raccoon that was causing them to get out without a prior warning at all so do not call them and less you want a ticket without warning!We called the police last week to ask them if we have an animal in the trap and it drives chickens out and we call animal control to remove the animal are we going to get another ticket? And they still have not even called us back and we have a raccoon in the trap right now but if we call we may get another $250 ticket this is absurdNow we have a call in to the mayor's office just to let us know if we're going to get a ticket if we call animal control

Not very considerate of my time. Had a dead skunk in back yard and needed to wait for them to pick it up before I could go to work. If they had told me it wasn’t a priority when I called the first time, I would have scooped it up and put it out front and not been late to work.
