They are doing an impressive job considering the overwhelming numbers of homeless dogs and cats. The need for good fosters and adopters is desperate and getting more people to volunteeris the only way LARAS house can take in any more homeless animals. In 2018/2019, I adopted two siblings who had been at LARAS for five years (since March 2014), Mack and Moe. I never raised a dog from a puppy, so I was fine with Mack and Moe being five years old when I got them. They are a little shy of people, but get along well with other dogs. As soon as we got home, Mack and Moe tried very hard to earn my trust. To this day, neither has chewed any of my stuff or been destructive in any way. They already knew how to walk on leash and go outside. They have been extremely low-maintenance, good dogs, and are always quite content just being my companion. During our first year together, they bravely tried new experiences with me even when it was apparent that it was not easy for them. I am very grateful to LARAS House for taking care of Mack and Moe for five years, and am sorry I did not find them sooner. I am privileged to be their adopter. They are now 10 years old and although I missed the first 5 years of their lives, the past 5 years they have been in my care have been joyous for me (and I hope for them, too). God Bless LARAS House and the amazing work of the staff and volunteers.

Oh so many dogs and cats needing a home. I contacted them about adopting an older dog, maybe one that had been there a while, one that's been over looked maybe? The were kind enough to send me a list of names to check out on their website. There were two I was interested in, so I went there to meet them. They weren't a match for me, but Kathy took me around to meet some others dogs. Kathy has good instincts, and knew which one was the right one for me...even though I wanted to meet a couple more. I came back to Pearl who had been at the shelter OVER 7 years. The staff is very knowledgeable, and for a no-kill shelter are doing the best they can to find homes for these loving fur-babies. You can see the staff genuinely care for these animals, and that they get good homes. Pearl is also a timid dog, but starting to come out her shell now that she has a fur-ever home. Here she is, thinking I can't see her...lol

When are these people available? Who and where do they help!? I have NEVER had 1 person say they were ever able to get ahold of them, get them to help or anything! I know myself I have donated to this place and have never seen 1 positive outcome or community involvement. I’m sorry it seems they have become just a name and animals mean nothing to them. Their animals are so skinny! As a community we need to see that these babies are taken care of, host donations events, let the community know what you’re doing! Get volunteers and people involved in giving theses animals a safe, loving forever home!

Great shelter! This is a clean kennel and the staff is awesome. They were knowledgeable and helpful and they have names for all of the dogs!We chose a beautiful Black Lab mix and we love him already. He has fit right into the family. The photo is Buddy in his favorite chair. Yes getting a little spoiled!

Very rude people. Extremely expensive to adopt no wonder they are overrun.

Wonderful no kill shelter. I volunteer there one day a week when I can. Always need lots of people to do the training and come and walk dogs. The dogs are so sweet!

Don't recommend this place if u find a stray animal. They won't take them in.I found a stray cat at my place and she was starving so i took her in & fed her. I emailed Laura's house &my husband also talked to a lady from there.I was told they won't take her in & a lady told my husband they won't help but could give us a name of a place where we could get our cat ella fixed for a very afforable price & that they would call back with that info.....it never happened!

Very great, very Humane, no kill shelter. They worked with me, shots and paperwork, till the gaggle of kittens I had was ready to be adopted. Although it made me sad to see the little fur balls go, I know they are going to get great new homes. They could always use donations. So open your heart and your wallet as well.

These folks are a blessing to the community. Lots of hard work involved in saving so many dogs and cats. They really need our help though so consider donating some of whatever you can.

This place is phenomenal, with a friendly staff and fair adoption fees.We were looking to adopt a young dog and happened to find the perfect pup through this shelter. The adoption process was simple while the terms were very clear. Any questions that I had were answered quickly via email by shelter staff (even if I sent them at odd hours) and cooperating with the foster was a breeze. This entire experience has been absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt.

Had a very good long talk with Volonteer working there, and animals situation and a small tour of the place, wonderful people, working very hard to make sure animals have a chance to life. All animals have a healing effect on us. All they need is affections care and love,,,, food help too. God bless you all.

Dewey is a sweet dog that is now my farm companion. He’s still learning the rules of the house but is fitting in quickly. He loves his big sister - Stella (our 9 year old boxer). They play fight and snuggle as well. Thx for helping us find our new friend!

My cousin and aunt have volunteered at LARAS House for years. They really care about their animals. They are a non-profit, no-kill shelter. They're the only no-kill shelter in Limestone county! I've gone up and helped my cousin out with cleaning and taking care of the cats. That is a hard job, it took nearly three hours to do that night. The volunteers here put their heart and their soul into caring for the animals!

Adoption went off without a hitch. However, after 6 months I am still waiting on a refund for rabies and spay. I submitted the itemized receipt from the Waco Animal Birth Control Clinic. I was assured that I would be reimbursed but have yet to receive my reimbursement. I have however received a few emails stating that my reimbursement would be sent soon. Still no check

So many unwanted animals so little time. The people who run this place do an incredible job given the circumstances. If you're in the market for a dog, skip the breeders and go see Laras House and adopt a rescue animal.

On it's way to implement spade and neuter for all Ferrell cats and dogs...foster now! Rid the world of none wanted Ferrell animals. The donations will be welcomed, graciously. No kill, animals for adoption. Fill out adoption forms onlinr and find a solution to loneliness and anxiety. Get a service pet now or family friend! I did! ✌❤🙂

Central Texas has a huge problem with fires and animal rescues. Happened about 6 months ago in Georgetown. Can't trust these companies to take care of the very thing they work for. Shame. next time have working fire alarms and maybe a person there at night.

After driving around Waco going to all different animal shelters, we found our family dog sugar at Lara's. They are so laid back, they made adopting a dog easy and wonderful experience!

There is now a surrender fee of 65$ even if you don't own the animal, and just found it, you have to pay to give it to the shelter. Decided it was just cheaper to keep the animal.

We adopted our little Moe from this shelter. He was shipped up to Rhode Island and he lives with us in NH. He's the best little guy ever! So thankful he was saved.

So helpful in helping me rescue 6 small dogs who all needed to be rescued from their situation and need homes. They are so willing and able to help and if not can provide referrals or a public post to help. Thank you so very much!

Great organization for rescued dogs and cats. If you are not sure you want to adopt, you can foster. This is a photo of Maggie Mae, foster turned adoption!

These people encourage the killing of harmless wildlife by their outside dogs. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
