Quiet & Clean Area behind large community pool. Only 30 amp worked but it had a 50 amp plug as well. No dump station but it was a perfect spot for our two night stay. Lots of wild turkeys & a nice playground for children. Big rigs fit. Ours was 40'

While passing through the area, this pretty park made for a pleasant 1 night stay. Follow instructions for easy on line registration and payment. Economical at $15/night for water and electricity. We were the only camper there 3/22/24. Pet friendly. Be aware they do lock entry and exit gates at night and do not reopen them until around 8 am.Clearly the town is economically challenged but takes pride in their park. We did not feel unsafe.

Quiet, clean, set among ruins of Old Memphis from 1890. Fun walk around. No restrooms or sewage. Electric and water seasonal.

If this were a larger town, sketchy would be the perfect description. But it's a tiny town and this is a pleasant park that just happens to have around 8 spaces. It's no frills, some spots, especially the shady ones are not level. I felt large in my 22' long vehicle but I've seen images of larger vehicles parking here.Paying to register was the biggest drawback of this location. The website sucks, there is no option to pay directly, so you have to "pay a utility bill" on their website and then for account number put in RV park. It's honestly easier to register in person if you arrive during business hours because they have a drop off box. I'd just put RV Park, dates and include cash or check on and envelope and you're done. I see payment receipt numbers in their mailbox but I didn't do that. I paid, I have proof, no need to bother with that as you're not directed to.The electric boxes in the shady area really need work. It's like people have run into them, which is understandable, it's not well planned out in terms of location. The four electric boxes closest to the pool seem fine.I will probably never come back. It was too stressful to find, pay and the environment needs work to make it not feel so sketchy.

It's amazing that they offer free overnight RV parking with electric and water. And I Love their maintenance of the older playground equipment and picnic areas. There are a lot of ants here. Small fire ants and the bigger red ants. It was so many that I was uncomfortable stopping and standing anywhere. I suspect the city doesn't have a budget for pesticides. It's also near 100 degrees and the swimming pool appears to be abandoned. Hoping they open the pool after memorial day. Also, what's with all the abandoned stone structures in the trees in either side of the amphitheater?

Good place for an overnight stay. $15 a night, 30 & 50 amp, water spigots at each site (water shut off when we were there mid-December). Local police officer checked in on us just as we finished setting up. We registered and paid at city hall/police station per officer’s suggestion. We fit in with our 35’ 5th wheel and there were no other campers there. Large trash dumpsters close by. There’s some trash around, probably from the tent transient living there, and be careful if you have pets as his dog was not leashed.

Nice park with history. Has a 500 seat amphitheater with extra rock seating along the edges. Looks like thrones or seating for powerful people. We found an old cellar and signs of the First National Bank and Rotary Club. Even found the old outhouse with toilet seats built of wood.On the other side is a free camp ground that has 50/30/20 amp plugs and water. A total of 8 sites. You must check in with the police department. I called and got a green light. Thru the night we heard either wild dogs or coyotes... they sounded off 4+ times

What could have been a wonderful experience was a disappointment. The only other camper was a tent with a long term?? He happen to choose the night we were there to have a party. Loud with lots of alcohol. Payment online was easy. $15 for electricity, no water it was turned off for the winter. We camped in a 34 foot tt. Sadly I don't think we will stop again.

Wow this place is great! It’s a free RV park with water and electricity (20/30/50). Super quiet and tucked back in the countryside next to a really nice public pool!I made sure to patronize a few of the local businesses when I got here and looking forward to trying that donut store in the morning as I head out. Thank you so much Memphis, TX!

Free water and electricity. We were only here a few hours to sleep and came in late. We were the only ones here. Plenty of room for our 35 foot skoolie. Mowed up nice, quiet. Old school playground equipment that was well maintained and tons of spots for picnics.Looks like maybe the pool got decommissioned? It was empty. Doesn't look like it had been full this year.

Stayed one night in the delightful level campsites adjacent to the city pool. We used the water but not the electricity, but it was there if we needed it! Flush restrooms are available in the playground. It was Saturday night but we had no problems finding a spot. Free camping was a lovely discovery for us!

Don't show up after dark. They lock the place up tight and you have to call for someone to let you in or out. Otherwise not a bad place for an overnight or two.

This is my husband's home town.. we always come to visit and love bringing our kids to play in an old school park . I love it. Brings back so many memories of how parks used to be.. they run wild and walk around and hear stories of back in the days.. Great place for the family!! Bathrooms are always so clean.. we'll always be back ☺️

We camped here one-night & were impressed at the quality of this camping area. Each site has plug in capability & is reasonably priced at $15/night. The community pool is also located here. The employees working at the pool are very friendly & seem genuinely happy to work for their community.

Great campsite for passing through. Stay is FREE plus the sites have electric & water available. There are clean bathrooms, however the sink in the women's bathroom didn't work. It has a huge playground and pavilions with grills. You just need to call the city hall to let them know you are staying.

My husband and I were traveling back to FL. Were going to stop in Childress. However, we found this City Park and decided to give it a try. We were tired, it was getting dark, and we thought, 'why not, it's free?'We were the only campers. RV fit well (not exactly level though). Electricity was definately a plus as it was very cold!Nice park, well maintained, and well lit (a safety plus).Whoever stays here should shop local in town as a thanks for their hospitality!Josephine (USAF Veteran)

This is in the city park pool area. Pool is not used and these sites are in the old parking lot. Electric, water and FREE. Good for overnights and the city park next door for walking, picnic shelters and playground.Pool is being renovated so not clear if these sites will remain once the parking lot is needed again.

We were headed south on hwy 287 and needed a place to stay overnight on our way from Amarillo to Dallas. We couldn't have been happier. The park was clean, the people we ran into were nice, and the best part was..... it was FREE and...we had the entire place to ourselves! Our site was more than sufficient to park our 40 ft class A and we had hook ups for 50 Amp electric and water. We are not sure the rules on how long you can camp here but it sure made a nice place to stay overnight. We camped right next to the pool and went to sleep hearing the gentle churn of the water and crickets in the woods. Definitely beats a rest stop for overnight. We plan to come back just to enjoy it the next time we pass this way.

Exactly what we needed. Rolled in at 5:30 and sent the teens to the pool which is exactly 50' from where we camped. We were the only ones in the overnight area. A travel van pulled in later but was across the park. Very quiet, very pretty and full of amenities. Power, water, playground, pool, and huge fireplaces with covered shade. So amazing that the city of Memphis allows this wonderful oasis to remain free.

Free water and electricity, what else can you ask for. Large rigs might find the space tight, but our 32ft Class C and Jeep fit fine. Just call the city dispatch to register.

This was an unexpected little gem of a city park to stay at in Memphis, TX. Clean, lots of garbage dumpsters, and it was very quiet for the most part, although ocassionally small planes fly overhead. There are several roomy spaces to park an RV or camper with full hookups. The best part? It's free! Sweet! We would sure stay again.

We enjoyed staying at the park. Everyone here in Memphis is so nice. The only drawback was taking our dogs for a walk and the stickers from hell were on them and their feet. But the park is beautiful, peaceful, clean and I felt safe.

Awesome, clean, quiet, FREE electric and water hookups! Memphis police officer stopped by right when we got in and had us fill out an overnight permit. Absolutely perfect for a quick stop.

8 back in RV spots with water and electric. Almost level.Register at city hall water office or via phone.Right next to the pool. You'd think with a pool, there would also be a sanitation station, but no.ALSO, I recommend not turning on 6th ST from the highway as there's a nasty dip in the road there. Better to turn on Noel at the light, then turn onto 6th ST south.

Great little city park with 30/50 amp and water for free only has 8 spots and we have a 44ft Roadwarror Toyhauler and it was a tight squeeze to get into a spot its better used by 30 foot or less it was empty so we had wiggle room.

Per sign as you pull in you need to get a permit from Police Dept. We called them and gave our info, didn’t physically go get a permit. Good level 8 spots, no one else there, city park setting so good walking.

This was a great little find. They have an amphitheater, stone fire hearths, dozen RV parking spaces with water and electricity, hiking trails, tent camping areas, an archery range and walking course plus more all surrounded by a national wildlife refuge area. Very much an unexpected find and great overnight stop.
