Lovely historic property. The room was huge, had 2 bathrooms, and the attention to detail was beyond compare. Beds and pillows were so comfortable, plenty of complementary bottled water, Keurig coffee service available, plasticware and paper plates provided, Beekman toiletries were a nice touch. Room was quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great gift shop and the bar/outside evening seating were exceptional. Will definitely return. Thanks Hotel Paisano for a great stay after a Big Bend camping trip.

Lovely historical hotel. Stayed in James Dean room! Made my husband watch Giant before we went and he said hes really glad he did, as the hotel has memorabilia all over from the film and prior knowledge made it much more meaningful. Very retro. Tiling in bathroom is all still original. Room is well maintained but still has that old charm. Loved our stay, the only issue was loud cleaners outside our room at 7:30am and we had been up since 2:30am traveling the day before so we were hoping to sleep in. Sound carries a lot. Then they were vaccuming and banging the vaccum against the wall next door so I finally gave up and went and sat down by the fire. Other than that I would totally recommend the hotel - I'm sure this wasn't the norm.

Fantastic, historic hotel. Great atmosphere. Gorgeous courtyard with a fountain where you can sit and enjoy a drink from the fully stocked bar. The rooms are large and nicely furnished. The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are small (keep in mind that this is a national historic building) but filled with very nice toiletries, thick, absorbent Turkish towels. The Keurig is stocked with delicious, locally roasted coffee- Big Bend Roasters. There is a small refrigerator. The hotel is pet-friendly. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to fantastic restaurants and bars. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. BTW- You might hear a train or a fire truck go by but it’s not a big deal.

Historic, charming hotel that is impeccably maintained. Loved the courtyard, the fireplace, and the cozy atmosphere. Beds were super comfy and large. The microwave and fridge in the room too. Friendly, understanding and accommodating front desk staff. Great location too, walking distance to galleries, shops, restaurants. We will be back!

We planned a dinner at Jetts restaurant for my daughter’s birthday and the service was the worst we had ever experienced before! Our waitress was afraid to put in our drink orders with the red head bartender because she said she was in a horrible mood and we were shocked and disappointed to experience that behavior and service, so totally inappropriate and unacceptable!!! I even went up to the bartender to try to get our drinks after waiting for 30+ minutes and she totally ignored me as well! It was humiliating and disgusting! And to add more to the fiasco the chicken nachos were absolutely dry and horrible! We work hard for our money and do not expect anything for free, but we do expect great service, and all we received was disrespect… Its disappointing to experience such a circus atmosphere in that place so never again will we ever dine there!!!

Another stop on our haunted hotel tour from LA to Fort Worth. Didn't experience any paranormal activity but a great spot. The town of Marfa was like something from the Twilight Zone. lol

Last week, we stayed one night at Pool Overlook Suite with 1 King Bed. The toilet drain was so old and didn't flush, which ruined our stay experience there. It's overpriced.Walkability: You can walk around the hotel. However, stay alert when walking around as I didn't feel safe there.

I actually enjoyed staying here, and would do so again. I had a great/giant hamburger and a good cocktail in the restaurant. There's also a nice courtyard that would be enjoyable during cool weather. They have a nice lobby. However, it's a historic hotel; so, be prepared for an experience lacking some modern convenience. I immediately flashed back to experiences of older hotels I've stayed at in Europe. Our room (particularly the bathroom!) was small, and there's no elevator. I saw no handicap ramp on the outside sidewalk, so you lug your bags from your trunk to a cart on the sidewalk, wheel them inside, and then lug them to your room.

It is a lovely historic hotel but very pricey. The room was spacious and well-furnished, but the bathroom was so tiny that there was barely room to stand between the sink and toilet. There is no place to put toiletries. The room had a lovely sun porch attached, but it faced an alley with two dumpsters. The restaurant was also expensive, and although the food and cocktails were good, the live music was way too loud (even though we were seated as far away as possible.) We had to park across the street because there is no dedicated parking. I'm glad we got to see it, but I wouldn't stay there again.

I have never stayed at the Hotel but between the bar, the food, and the atmosphere, I am already sold! Such friendly staff and a beautiful location. Can we also talk about their large gift shop? If they had more of a men’s selection for T-Shirts I would be head over heels. Regardless, it’s a must see for anyone visiting!

Very nice property, with great staff. Rooms can be on small side depending on which one you book, but we had a corner King, and had plenty of room, but no balcony. Cleaning staff was superb (don’t forget to tip if you are happy with the service), property very well maintained. Courtyard is a great place to spend happy hour.

Mixed experience. Lobby and downstairs is gorgeous, feels like you step back in time. Room very spacious, bed really comfortable. Room badly in need of a facelift. Tired and sad decor, bathroom vanity paint chipped, door dirty, grout needed repair. balcony was a lovely touch, but dirty and crumbling. Excellent, central location. A/C in the room blasted freezing air directly at the bed because of the way the vents were situated, can't be fixed but it was uncomfortable and disruptive to sleep every time it kicked on.

Great staff. Great rooms. Very romantic. The bar staff was very attentive. The hotel is amazing. The room we booked said it was a suite had 2 queen beds. The suprise when we got into the room it had 2 full bathrooms. Loved it. If you are handicap. There is not an elevator. There are over 20 stairs to get to the guest floor. We will be back.Rooms: Amazing beds. Very very clean.Food & drinks: The bar was fantastic. We had appetizers . They were excellent

The Hotel Paisano is one of the 3 iconic Trans-Pecos hotels built by the legacy of architect Henry C. Trost whom set out to build the finest hotel in the southwest, and by all measures accomplished it. Hotel Paisano is exclusively covered at the end of Chapter 4 "The Other Side of Nowhere" in my book "TEXAS BADLANDS: The Ultimate Black and White Journey" (available on Amazon). I have enjoyed stopping in this grand hotel to and from my travels gathering material for my book project over the years.I highly recommend that any ambitious traveler coming to Marfa or the Trans-Pecos/Big Bend regions visit and stay at the Hotel Paisano. Even more wholeheartedly I recommend any ambitious traveler coming through Marfa to Big Bend Country take the route through Presidio and TX FM 170 to Lajitas for a spectacular journey that brings the other side of nowhere into majesty. You won't regret it!

Romantic, luxurious, and memorable hotel that feels ripped from the past. Highly recommend staying a day and night in Marfa if your ultimate destination is Big Bend.Food & drinks: Their cocktail bar was fully staffed and had capable bartenders. The restaurant had a good menu and friendly servers. The small salads are little more than a garish plate so go for the full size. Price were comparable to a major city, so a little pricey.

I love this town and work here in Marfa. So it kills me to say that the new menu they are serving in Jetts was horribly disappointing. The caesar salad used to be my favorite. It has been changed to a SW salad. Which isn't bad, but THIS salad was overly spicy. It killed whatever flavor existed. The menu didnt list the ingredients of the salad. Which is disturbing. I love spicy but it didnt communicate that the salad would be drenched in a chipotle dressing of sorts??So I ordered the dip trio. Harmless right? WRONG! Black bean hummus ( tasted like they used freeze dried black beans), salsa (watered down tomato paste) and guacamole ( it smelled fine but had a taste like it was bad? Like when the lime turns it goes sour)But the real kicker was a drink we ordered from the bar, a blue Hawaiian. It tasted like they used grapefruit juice. It was so sour. They swore they used pineapple juice. If they did? Then it was bad.I'm truly disappointed in the poorly prepared menu and food. Please bring back the classics.Update: they have changed the menu and kitchen staff twice since this post. Still haven't gone back

My husband and brother in law needed a place for one night, and we travel to the area often, always wanting to stay in this historic hotel. The guy who checked us in was great. The hotel room was spacious, but the bathroom door would not shut. This was uncomfortable for me with three of us in the room. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet would not flush unless it was flushed three times.

Pool area is dirty and run down with broken tiles, dead plants, Nonworking waterfall, littered with dirty towels, horrible customer service at Jetts. Bartender forgot about happy hour. Was charged for items we didn't order, hair in cadillac Margarita and no apologies. Dead geraniums near the main waterfall court yard are not appealing. Asked about coffee in the gift shop and lady responded with I don't know.

I just stopped by to see the memorabilia of the movie Giant. Nice pictures of #lizabeth Taylor and James Dean. The hotel is a know spot because all the Gigiant film actors stayed in the hotel during the film shooting.Noteworthy details: The Giant actor's suites and rooms.

This is a positive review but I want to mention the negative first. This review is for the restaurant. My wife, mother and father ordered the Cheese Enchiladas. They had to be one of the worst food items I have ever tasted. They did not eat them. For the rest I had the tacos and they were great! Others in my party had the chicken fried steak, and the steak. All were well received and good. The blueberry cobbler was fantastic and is a large portion. Was able to share with several people. Atmosphere was nice and service was good.
