Adopted a pit bull from them almost 11 years ago. And he was one of the best dogs I have ever had. We are so thankful for being able to take him home. The lady we talked to had told us a little about his story but not much. We know that he was rescued with the name stupid and they renamed him at the shelter to Cupid, which we also renamed him, Maximus. And he was known as max from that day forward. We recently lost our baby dog, due to medical issues we had no control over. To the lady who adopted him to us, we want to thank you, if you’re still there. He was well taken care of and lived the rest of his years spoiled completely rotten and had the best personality a dog could have. He was a mess and a half, liked to talk back, loved sticks, treats, and stole the covers every night. One day, when things don’t hurt so much from his passing, hopefully we will find another pup that needs to know he’s loved.

It really makes me sad to see all these negative comments because I know the truth of the way the animal control officers are overwhelmed and doing all they can to take care of these animals that people in the city and the county (and probably folks outside both) dump on them. You get angry with them, but they're not the problem. They're just trying to cope with the symptoms of the real problems. Please, if you want to have your energies more effectively spent and your words more purposefully used; petition to the city council to expand the budget(for more animal control officers added) for those of you in the city of Liberty.For those of you in the county, petition the county's sheriff to fund its own shelter, and for those of you outside the county please please please go to your own local shelter or petition your own local government to establish their own. While it is stressful to not find the help you need when you need it, please understand they can not take in more animals than they have room to house. Next time you consider a pet, consider diligently every possibility and how you will handle it going forward.If want to adopt from this shelter (and any adoption is greatly appreciated), please have patience and call ahead to find out when they will be doing adoption events, and give them time to prepare ahead. It's not fair to them to be upset that they aren't ready for you on demand. Respect their insurmountable responsibilities and understand that until we all take action to help them get the funding and man power they need, we must be patient.To those of you who shared your adoption stories, it melts my heart to read them because I have, in the past, had to surrender a fur baby to them and it was painful and stressful and all I could do to help them at that time in my life, knowing you were willing to take home and love and cherish a surrendered pet, it definitely softened the blow to my heart, thank you!-----BelowThis was my review from 2yrs agoI appreciate the work being done here but I really wish there was more of a presence in the community. I would love to see an outreach day where the animals can get to visit with family's maybe at the park or around the courthouse yard space. I have had to utilize their services and although I had a hard time reaching people I understand that there are limited funds and not many people so I know why. Just gotta say thanks to everyone here for doing the thankless jobs, I know the family's you help and the animals appreciate you!

Could not get them to let me look at the dogs told me to come back next week. Came back and I still couldn't see but 2 dogs.

So I found out it’s not liberty county it’s only liberty town that they help I’m pregnant and I ask if they can get this dog I got off the road and they said no I can’t afford to help this dog I can’t even afford this kid probably they are no help

I never expected for these people to send me to Dayton police department and to get no answer for puppies I rescued from getting runed over now I don't know where to take them this is sad 😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞

We have adopted a few dogs and cats from the pound. We wound up with some really good animals. For $25 and a voucher to get your animal fixed is a good deal.

Please note that there is a fee of $25 to relinquish an animal that must be paid at the city hall before bringing the animal to this location.There is also a fee of $45 to adopt an animal from this location.

Terrible place , never there ...and when once you find then there they say they don’t got time to show you any animal because they can clean the place 🤦🏻‍♀️and they very rude
