Fresh new produce with so many more options now! It might be small but packed with all the necessities and perfect for the tourists who come and stay! And as a local (transplant) we shop here frequently and never are disappointed!

I had read a review or two of this long-standing Leakey (locals pronounce Lay-Key--say as it's spelled if you're talking to Google though) Mercantile. I am being generous with stars her, as in truth I didn't buy anything from this store yet. Reviews I saw prompting my checking it out all praised their pies and I wanted at least a slice of the burgundy pie, described as a combination blueberry and raspberry concoction. When I went, pecan and buttermilk pies along with a couple cakes were all that remained and neither interested me today. I liked the store as it was reminiscent of my family's store I was raised in, growing up there because both parents worked 6-16 hours there. They have a variety of fresh, frozen, and dry grocery. Busy browsing, I was in the stockroom inadvertently and can tell you it was clean and well maintained. I'll be back there tomorrow for some beef, likely Ribeyes and a pie. They're proud of both--$20 a pie and $18.95 per pound for ribeye--and I'll pay that. It may help keep a small local business's doors open+ I'll get to eat some favorites ribeye and pie or steak and cake. Stop in and check em out, as such as these grow fewer and farther between. Love this little store. We went there looking for fresh eggs and the lady there (doesn’t sell them) but she had just bought some from her friend and gave me 6 of them. I’ve never had fresh eggs until that day. It was my husband’s and my honeymoon week in 2007 and I cooked a great breakfast for us that morning . They have a great selection of food too. Awesome people!! Awesome little store. ♥️

Was in town for summer vacation. We where looking for some times that we forgot to bring luckily we found everything we needed. Service was great and the girls where helpful both days we came into the store. Mostly everything around town closes at 9pm. Store was organized better than the big corporate store across the street.

We stop in the Leakey Mercantile for groceries every time we come to the Frio Canyon. Nothing fancy in the shelves, but good selection for a small town grocery. The meat counter is the real gem here: the freshest & best meats you could hope to find! Jake and Charlie will provide excellent cuts with friendly service and great big smiles. Gonna have steaks, chicken, or chops during your River Trip? Save the space in your RV fridge or ice chest and get them fresh here. That’s what we do and I promise they’ll be better than whatever grocery store you have back home!

Clean and well stocked little store! The staff was nice and and helpful. The handmade sausage is fantastic and the butcher was really welcoming, informative and helpful. We will most definitely be back next time we visit the area.

What a cool store! I wish I'd taken pix for research! I visited with my DIL to grab a few dinner things. There isn't a lot of choice in brands, but about anything you'd need in the way of groceries, OTC meds, first aid supplies, etc the Mercantile has. Very nice people running the store & deli. I would have loved to browse longer, so I hope to go back one day.

We usually stop here when we're on a motorcycle ride. There are not many places in this small town! They have a minimum of items & rather expensive. Yet, it's a small store in a small town and a good place to stop if your going through & need gas or a few groceries.

Would not recommend. No prices anywhere in the store. The cheese we bought ended up being moldy. Overheard another shopper ask if they had any Guinness that was not 2 years old.

I witnessed the butcher serve me a raw chicken breast with a gloved hand, close that meat case with the same hand, and literally open the deli case and grab lunch meat for the next customer with the SAME gloved hand. There are always dead flies inside the meat case under the hamburger meat, and I have heard several DISGUSTING things that other customers have seen. Absolutely horrid and should be shut down.

A nice mom and pop grocery store with wonderful employees. They are a small selection of the basics and a variety of the less used items. Like a complete deli meat and cheese counter. Their meat market is awesome. If you want a good quality meat—go there.

There a good grocery store and the next closest one is 30 miles away. The have all you basic needs. One of the best things about this store is there meat department. You can have your meat cut the way you like. Much better then Wal-Mart and cost less then HEB Choice cuts.They are a cut above the rest.

For being a small store they have a nice selection of products that suit my range of taste. Pricing is as would be expected in a small tourist type town but not nearly as bad as it could be. They have a fresh meat market in the back with good Quality Meats available custom cuts

Very nice small grocery store with much more stock than you would imagine! Also, very, very good meat, as well as homemade potato salad, stuffed Jalepenos, etc. Great deli meats. I go there frequently! Friendly service always.

We don't buy our meat anywhere else because of the quality! They will cut or grind to your specifications too. Scooter is especially helpful. All staff are helpful and courteous.

Really nice market, had everything needed for a bbq night in the nearby cabins. The meat was of excellent quality and perfect for grilling. All staff was very nice and helpful.

Very awesome place that has a variety of food and basic home necessities. Hometown feel whenever you walk through the doors. Staff and management are super awesome people that keep the mercantile stocked and friendly.

Great friendly service. You can get essentials here but not everything. Fresh produce is limited but they do have bottled water including Topo Chico and local pecans from the Frio river pecan company -delicious and buttery!

A very nice grocery store. It was not real big, but it had a little bit of everything. It also had a small meat market. We found everything that we needed. For the location being in a small town it wasn't over priced. If there's anything else we need I'm sure they will have it. Very friendly people.

As visitors to this town the staff were super friendly and helpful. The facility itself was cleaned and organized. I just adored the whole experience and I was just buying wood and coke!
