If I could leave more than 5 stars, I would! Alex (the owner) is by far one of the most knowledgeable, kind, and caring people I’ve ever met. He has helped me find the perfect food (he makes it!) for my dogs & any time I need something new he walks me through ALL of my options, what they do, how long they’ll last, why he likes them all the way down to the company who makes it, etc. Everything in his store is intentionally picked to make sure pets are healthy and happy! So thankful to have found this place. He even delivers locally, which has been HEAVEN SENT!! Thank you, Alex! EVERYONE CHECK OUT PET WANTS NOW!

Heard about Pet Wants from a friend so I went to go visit to buy some gifts for our friend’s new puppy. The owner Alex was so kind and helpful. He gave me a very generous sample of their dry food.My dog Willy enjoyed the dry food so I wanted to take him in for a visit. Willy was very happy to meet Alex and receive ALL THE TREATS. Alex even gave him a treat for our ride home. Clearly Willy’s new favorite place.We just placed an online order for their dry food and it was delivered within the hour. Can’t believe the incredible customer service. Looking forward to ordering all of our pet needs from Pet Wants moving forward!

My dog Dolly absolutely loves the chicken jerky here. Alex is the most helpful person I have ever met at a pet store. The customer service here is unmatched, and that goes for the pet and the owner! I look forward to bringing Dolly here every week since I have found the place. The fresh food here is amazing, and the ability to get small batches every two weeks or so makes it super fresh for my little 10 pound pugapoo. Alex really cares about your pets health and tries to get to know them. There is no other store like this period. Hands down best experience I have ever had at a pet store. I won’t be going to any other pet stores but here for a long time. Dolly and I have found some friends for life!

Alex has been amazing in delivering an unparalleled customer experience. As a psycho dog mom I have spent countless hours researching dog foods etc. and wouldn’t settle for anything other than the best for my pride and joy. I can confidently say that we have found it in Alex’s product. You can tell that he is passionate about what he does and has the science/research to back it up. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with Boozer’s diet an if I could give him 10 stars I would. The proof is in the pudding with the Whitefish & Duck grain free dog food—after struggling with stool issues Boozers dumps are consistent and solid. So happy we stumbled on this place!!!

Alex came recommended to me by a friend who found him months ago. She raved about him and how he had turned her dog around from years of health issues that weren't being met at the vets or pet stores. I am so grateful she told me about Alex and how knowledgeable he is in all things dog. He had me try some supplements for my dog's arthritis and some other issues. I've seen a difference and am so grateful!!! Customer service was excellent as well! I highly recommend going to Pet Wants even if it may be a little out of your way. It's over 12 miles from my house and worth it! Thanks for caring about my boy!

I was looking for a healthy food for my dog and thought why not give Pet Wants a try. I went in and met Alex. What I received was an education on nutrition. Quality food that is prepared properly that's fresh and my dog absolutely loves it. Go in and meet with a great guy who will listen to your needs and help you decide what’s best for your pet. He’ll also tell you that you’ll notice a change in your dogs’ fur and he was correct, my dogs’ hair looks like silk!I highly recommend this product and this store. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

My pup had high triglycerides (over 2000... normal was under 340)! After discussing this issue with Kris at My Love Fur Paws while my dog was going to board there for 2.5 weeks. I told her that the vet suggested some low fat foods for our pup and that she would not eat it. I think I tried every low fat food on the market! She suggested that she get some food from Pet Wants as they are such a good source and have healthy food and have some that are low fat that the dogs love! She ordered the senior low fat food from Pet Wants and also some Hound and Gatos that Pet Wants carries. They were given this food for 2.5 weeks. Right after we picked our pup up, we went to the vet to have her triglycerides checked. We got the results back today---DRUMROLL.... HER TRIGLYCERIDES WERE 171! This was all due to the food from Pet Wants! Thank you Kris at My Love Fur Paws for you knowledge and to Pet Wants for making tasty healthy food that my dog absolutely loves to eat.

Alex, the owner of Pet Wants Austin has been awesome to work with. His communication has been flawless through each and every order. My dog Boozer absolutely loves the food! I recently ordered a 20 lb bag of food to my apartment complex & somehow the complex lost the food and the food was never delivered to me. I contacted Alex and we worked through the issue. Without hesitation, he mailed me a new 20 lb bag the next day, free of charge. I will continue to use Pet Wants Austin for all my dogs food in the future due to the great customer service and awesome food for my dog!

I had heard some pretty amazing things about Pet Wants and decided to go look around for myself & try something new for my pups. The moment I walked through the door I was impressed! The store was so neat, tidy & well organized! Alex was super helpful with his knowledge of everything from healing salve to which food would be best suited for my pups’ needs.All 4 of my dogs, as well as 3 recent foster dogs, have loved everything I’ve given them!! Initially I tried mixing the kibble from Pet Wants in with their old food - somehow they managed to pick out all the new food & leave all the old behind! It was crazy but dogs apparently know what is good for them! They are happier, skin is healthier & allergies are under control!I encourage you to go meet Alex for yourself. Ask him to assist you in choosing the right products which will address your pet specific concerns! You (& your fur children) will be so happy you did!!!!

Just love Pet Wants and everything they have to offer. My dog was suffering terrible skin issues due to allergies. Alex walked me through how to figure out if it was environmental or food based. Alex took a huge amount of his personal time to help us figure it out. He cared and showed interest in making sure my dog got the help he needed without costly vet bills. Luckily it was food based and the incredible food Pet Wants makes worked. Within the first week my dog showed incredible improvement in his skin issues, energy level and overall happiness. We visit Alex now and my dog goes right to his favorite treats. I highly recommend Alex and Pet Wants for all animal needs. He has healthy food, supplements and this is a company that truly cares about its customers human and animal.

There are a lot of pet supply stores to choose from but all are not created equally. Pet Wants, owned and operated by Alex, is the best of the best in every category. Alex is very knowledgeable, truly cares about your pet’s health, and provides the best customer service anywhere. We’ve been getting our dog food from Pet Wants since moving to Austin and because it isn’t a common food Alex orders it special for us. He’s figured out how often we need it and always has it ready for us. They offer frequent discounts and their regular prices are better than other stores. One of my boxers has chronic bladder infections and Alex recommended a supplement for her. When I purchased the supplement she was already showing signs of another infection starting, within about 5-7 days the signs subsided and the infection was cleared. I highly recommend Pet Wants of Austin West, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Alex!

This is the best pet supply store in Lakeway! My dog needed to be on a limited protein diet so with our vet's recommendation, we visited Pet Wants Austin West in Lakeway and tried the duck and whitefish kibble. Not only did our dogs love it, but they tolerated it well with no GI issues. The owner, Alex, is so knowledgeable about pet foods, supplements, and pet affairs. The food is natural and fresh. The store is always clean and well organized. They also provide free delivery! Alex knows his customers by name and is more than willing to help each and every customer as they come into the store. I highly recommend Pet Wants and can confidently say you will get prompt personal attention with a caring attitude.

My wife met Alex at the Bee Caves Farmers Market several months ago, and we made it to the store the next week. We have had 6 dogs over the past 35 years, and we are always looking for a better alternative to feed our pets. Alex and Shawn made some recommendations for us and we began feeding the 2 dogs we have now the Lamb and Salmon recipes. They love the food, their energy level is up, they look much healthier with their coat and weight. We have also tried the store's better alternatives for dog treats and rawhides. We just wish we would have found this store earlier. Our dogs are our family, and we want them to consume what is best for them. WOW! I have never entered a pet store and have been greeted with such kindness and knowledge around pets' health and the plethora of products offered at this store. HIGHLY recommend! Alex got us switched from traditional kibble, to the brand Pet Wants creates, which is baked at a lower degree, and includes the highest quality ingredients, and my (very picky) dogs absolutely love the dog food. I could not recommend this Pet Wants location more!

I found out about Pet Wants through my vet. He assured me it was the freshest dog food available and had nothing but good things to say about the owners. I went to the store the very same day and met Alex. What a kind, compassionate animal lover. He had great suggestions as to what food to try. We have two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels and one of them, Lucy, was having issues. She was throwing up several times a day and had been for a few weeks. My vet thought it may be an allergic reaction to the food she was on. We switched over to the white fish and duck and within a month she was fine. We have had no other issues and both of our dogs are healthy and happy. Thank you, Alex.

I will never shop elsewhere for my pet's needs again! Alex the owner is amazing. He special orders my food for me because its hard to get and gives me an amazing price even though he barely makes a profit on it. He is extremely knowledgeable about pet health and nutrition and if you're having any issues with your pet go see him. More often then not he can point you in the right direction without having to spend hundreds at the vet and save your dog from having to get on unnecessary, expensive, and sometimes harmful medications. Obviously sometimes dogs need meds and I understand that, but if its something like digestion, skin and coat, or weight issues etc. I would start here first and try to heal from the inside. Ever since having my dogs on the joint supplement powder he recommended my lab has a new spring in his step. It's amazing to see. I can't say enough amazing things about this location.

Alex was very nice and very informative! He was concerned about helping Macy and not just selling me a product! I initially purchased a shampoo based on his recommendation. It stoped her itching! A great big shout out to Alex and Pet Wants. My 5 year old German Shepherd has always had skin allergy problems. Since switching his food to Pet Wants, Whitefish and Duck (it's his favorite) he has had no more skin allergy problems and his recent blood test at the vet showed that he was in amazing health! Mind. BLOWN! New customer, first stopped at the store to buy a leash. Alex was very helpful, patient, and friendly. On our way out, he provided us some food samples. He said it would be a fun experiment to put their regular food next to the Pet Wants samples and see which they prefer. I was amused to see that they ate every bit of the Pet Wants food and left their regular food alone. Started feeding them Pet Wants after that.Within a month or so - AND TO MY SURPRISE - I noticed that my Pomeranian, who's been afflicted with alopecia (hair loss - cause unknown) for the last 3 years, started to grow his hair back!! Seriously, did not see that coming. I'm SHOCKED, and ecstatic.It's just baffling. I did everything the vet suggested for his hair loss - melanin supplements, special shampoo - I even tried keeping the house cooler so that maybe it'd triggered him to grow thicker fur, but he only kept losing hair. Before switching the food, he was half bald. The vet never suggested changing anything about his diet. Now I'm re-examining my life, having introspective thoughts like, "How did we get here?", "What have I been doing with my life?", "Where was this food 3 years ago" .. -__-BTW, I thought it was really cool when my husband told me that Alex remembered my visit when he went to reload on dog food. Makes it a more personable experience. Feel more like a neighbor than a customer :)

Amazing pet store!! Staff is knowledgeable, all foods there meet a good standard of quality. The only quip I have is them trying to sell homemade dog food at $110 for 40lbs when their ingredients are on the same level of Fromm and Taste of the Wild.I would understand if they were more meat-based, but the kibble is very meal and filler carb dependent and my biggest issue is them having customers who are not knowledgeable in pet food and cheating them out of money using words like “low heat” (unless it’s baked, extruded kibble is still cooked HOT and loses nutrients in the cooking process) and “small batches.”Other than that, I would definitely recommend the herbsmith and salmon oil supplements they offer, natural and effective for your pup!

My new go to pet goods store. I had been into the store a couple weeks ago to check out the new place, see what they were all about. I was greeted by the owner who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about pets, pet health and wellbeing, etc. After speaking with Alex for a good while, I knew where I would be getting my cat food next time we ran out. Well yesterday was that day. Not only that, but it snuck up on me. So there I am, with no cat food and stuck at work with no way to make it to Pet Wants before they closed. That's when I remembered, they deliver!!! Called up to the shop, ordered my new cat food to be delivered right to my door, and all I had to do was sit back and relax. Alex came surprisingly quickly with my new grain free cat food, all nice and wrapped up with a smile and receipt. Now.... the real test. My cat's what some might call persnickety about his food. He's 100% food driven but has left his bowl completely untouched when we tried to switch foods in the past. Last night and this morning he ate it all man, every little morsel of the Pet Wants. I love supporting locally owned/operated small businesses, and cannot recommend Pet Wants highly enough.

Our foster fail, Hank, is the love of our lives besides our children (of course they're teenagers so that's up to debate). We are new to the "pet world" and inundated with choices for our new puppy. I stumbled across Pet Wants through a "like" by a FB friend. Hank was about to grow out of his puppy food and we didn't know where to go for that next step. My husband and I were blown away when we walked into Alex's business. The store is extremely clean and well organized with every kind of kibble, toy, salve imaginable. Alex is extremely knowledgeable with all breeds of dogs and sent us home with a three different samples for Hank to try out at home as we went there without him. (Again, this is our first rodeo.) Before, we were doctoring his dry food with chicken/vegetable broth to get it down. He actually jumped up onto the counter to get the rest of the sample after we fed him that first bit. That sealed the deal for us. Hank has been on Pet's Wants food for three months and his coat is noticeably softer.And did I mention the best part? Alex DELIVERS!! And it's included in the cost. No more late night runs to the store to grab more dog food.Please take the time to stop in the store. From this new dog lover, you won't be disappointed.
