Usually I would rate a business by how well I was treated, but my rating is based on how they treat the animals. This is a great shelter. Please consider adopting your next dog or cat from an Animal Shelter. This is one of the kittens we just brought back to our farm.

The volunteers and staff need to get our thanks and praise. The needs to shelter unwanted pets seems overwhelming, but the team is always warm and courteous. We recently took home a dog on a trial basis to see how it would fit in in our home. The staff is well aware that not every pet will work out in every home. They are happy to with work with us and we are grateful.

They care about the animals in their shelter. Cats and dogs are cleaned after and fed well everyday. Health issues are handled quickly. Active social and print media encourages adoltions.

Gardenia and their staff are amazing. I have adopted a dog and three cats who are a big part of our home. We love our fur babies! The staff was amazing in handpicking the perfect animals for our home. My daughters dog is now a service animal and the indoor cat is my son’s favorite cuddle buddy.

We've adopted a dog, worked with the barn cats program, and fostered kittens. Each interaction with the staff has been kind, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend this shelter.

Actually ZERO stars....our dog was brought in, held for two days before they posted they had him and then adopted him out the next day, when we saw the post and contacted them, the employees were just awful, kept changing their story, and told us we were not getting our dog back. They didn't care about us being the rightful owners of the dog and treated us like the criminal, because they knew they had done wrong. We're sure it was an inside job between the shelter and the person who "found" him by our house to keep our dog since he's a cute Boston terrier. Despicable and unforgivable. Beware, these shady employees don't care about getting these pets back to their families. They need to change their policies so pets are returned to their families and treat people with respect and compassion. I feel sorry for anyone that has gone through what we have and can't get their pet back.

The people of this shelter care for their rescues. They were quick to reach out to me when my experience was less than perfect. A very good quality to want to fix the issues. Thank you for caring

I went in to check about a "little brother or sister" for my eight year old dog. We found five little cocker spaniel mix puppies and i decided to adopt one. My Mom just wanted to hold one so she was given one. We both left with a male pup(for me) and a female pup(for Mom). After a week, both are doing good and loving their new homes(mom and i live in separate houses).

Love this shelter, but 3 peers of mine and I have had a problem with Teresa. Not a very nice woman. Rejected adoptions, rushing the adopters who are fostering. She doesn’t deserve to work there.

Oso ran out one morning by an irresponsible owner, while it was storming early in the morning spring 2018, and heard a sound in the bushes. Immediately he jolted to the sound and pounced on the invader but to turn out to be an elderly frighten woman who was their neighbor for many years, that was just raking leaves at 6 A.M. in the morning while it was storming crazy outside. The poor woman fell back and hit her elbow on the concrete driveway as his owner came running to the situation, pulled her dog off and noticed no blood on the pavement, nor wounds expect the fact the elder woman was horrified. She got up in her car and drove herself to the hospital, but returned only 25 minutes later. Around town she spread rumors that she broke some ribs, making people pity her and when in fact she was always outside doing the storm drains, raking, doing her lawn on a daily basis immediately after that day. More lies began to spread when she claimed she had family inside the house who witnessed the scene as well. Since they had no pictures of blood on the concrete, no wound, no puncture marks, the elder woman threaten to sue Oso's family and kick them out of their home. Eventually, they had to surrender Oso to the Fayette County Animal Shelter here in La Grange, Texas.Animal shelter offered to let them see their surrendered dog before the procedure to let them say their goodbyes because when Oso first went into quarantine, his family was told they were no longer able to visit him. Locked up for weeks, the animal shelter only let a minute to see him before his death just because the employees wanted to get over with it and start their day. He lost weight, looked as though he lost his spirit, scabs on his elbows, it was true dawning to us they tortured Oso to his very last day. They wanted conflict, cause a scene so they could make it look like Oso's family caused a fight. It was a battle for Oso's body, they wanted to cut off his head and just throw out the body. Searching for a rescue we learned to dreaded truth that the Fayette County Shelter did not allow animals on euthanize list to be rescued. They performed heart stick euthanasia without his owner being in the room, even though his momma got a written request that she could be in the room with her dog while they put him down, unfortunately they blocked the way into the room knowing they were purposely doing it.As things got worse, the animal shelter started spreading rumors that it was court ordered and trying to dissemble their reputation. People then started attacking his family after they spoke out about their experience at the shelter, instead of people asking the true story, they back lashed. Harsh words such as "We let our dog down", "We failed" , and that we were the bad people. It saddens me that a small town teams up and listens to the false misleading information without knowing the full truth, completely avoid asking the victims. People will hate the ones who stand up to the bullies and those who try to reveal the truth. An animal shelter employee even showed up to my friend's job and confronting her, lying that it was court ordered to try to persuade her that they were not lying. The animal shelter even got a police officer to come to the house to give a fake ticket to the dogs owners for slander. Stupidly, the ticket was previously filled out with the wrong name AND checked as 9 AM when in fact the cop came knocking at 9 PM at night. This just shows how people are locally tied in La Grange and get favors, under the whistleblower act this is not allowed.God has always known the real truth and when they stand before him as he questions them about what they done, will they still lie to his face? I never want the employees who spread the gossip and lies to ever forget what they did, because how they did it was purely sinister. Then on Facebook they were getting hit so bad, they took down their reviews! :)

We have an amazing no kill shelter right here in Fayette County! Yesterday after my closing I went and bought things that were on their wants and needs list. Walmart's dog sweaters were on sale so I bought 20 of those too! #charitydonations #nokillshelter #arealtorwhocares
