We fled out of this thing as fast as possible, because of bed bugs activities.We're traveling with 4 small children. I thought this place was neat because it had a pool. I also thought that a Super 8, although being a budget hotel, wouldn't be too bad since we've always had good experiences with them and it's a big chain, so quality control should be okay. However, when we arrived, it's not a super 8. It might have been some time ago, but this is now just Motel Kountze. Okay, no biggie. We still went in and checked in. Pool was drained and not open -- big disappointment for the kids, but again, no biggie. We're here just for the night.When we entered the room, my husband said there was a smoke smell that they tried to cover up -- I smelled mildew. Either way, he felt icky about this place and suggested we checked the beds for bed bugs. This was our first time having felt the need to check for bed bugs, and when we flipped the beds, we were just disgusted by the stains -- regardless whether they were bed bug blood stains. So we flipped the beds over conoletely and started to comb through every little crease. We did manage to find a few dead bedbugs -- majority of them on the floor. We were still hopefully that maybe they killed them off after an infestation. However, on one of the beds, there were apparent bed bug feces (black dots) and when my husband flipped one of the creases on the mattress, there it was: eggs and exoskeletons. We never saw a live adult one, but the feces and eggs and exoskeletons all pointed to possible bed bugs and with 4 small children, we just couldn't risk it. We fled out of that thing as soon as possible, and informed the front desk about the possible bed bugs. She wasn't nasty about it, but she said there was nothing she could do about the night rate we just paid.So save your money and don't stay here!

Smells like smoke the beds are nothing but springs, my husband and I stayed over weekend, back neck whole body was hurting, These are the original beds from 20plus years ago. Nice location need to upgrade bad. You sleep better in your car.Noteworthy details: Nothing else to say, they need beds bad

Customer service at the desk was fine. However, here are the issues with the room (128):1) Beds are worn out spring-based mattresses2) Bathtub faucet constant dripping leak3) Musty smell in room (probably due to bath leak or HVAC is not properly drying air).I normally DO NOT leave feedback unless things are awesome OR if things are bad enough that they should be fixed. I tried laying on the far bed closest to the window first. That bed has springs that one can feel coming through on the left side of the bed. The closest bed to the door was better but not by much. Walking in the room, if one looks at the beds in the room they are visually sunken down in the middle. This is unacceptable. We made do because this was the only room left. The dripping water faucet was annoying so we had to close the bathroom door to block the sound.All the breakfast items were stale and even the waffle mix tasted stale.Customer service was OK, looks OK from outside and lobby.We were going to stay at the Relax Inn, but my wife thought it did not look so good even though the ratings there with repeat stays were better. In retrospect, I would have stayed there instead.Since my daughter just moved to the area and there other alternatives to stay fairly close within a distance radius, Super 8 got knocked off the list early. Narrows the list of places to stay on regular visits.Until this owner/manager updates their beds and has maintenance updates, if you have other choices and actually want a good nights sleep, I'd go elsewhere. The beds are really bad.

Innuendo may be king but this a top stash spot for rental cars. Relighting an old flame or turning that heat back on to high was taken care of with great attention to detail.Work truck: seats were easy peasy headpod squeezy. Once play time came, it was a well oiled machine and we got a taste of what the real is going to provide🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑♾️

Pool is running, full of water, and padlocked for absolutely no reason. The sweet girl at the desk says the manager is the issue. LaWanda also has a sign up saying no service animals are allowed in the breakfast area, so if you have a service dog, they will discriminate and not allow you to eat. The TV in our room also didn’t work. The place smells and is constantly damp everywhere. Service was great, but that’s it. We left and got a refund! We’re going to LaQuinta where the pool is OPEN!

Hair dryer didn't workBathroom exhaust vent didn't work ( room was very hot and humid with four people using the shower)Air conditioner made a loud clunking sound. It’s the only option in Kountze. Was disappointed. Felt dingy. The rooms were quite smelly. One our rooms had so much deodorizer sprayed in it, it was unbearable. The other rooms were not as bad with odor but smelled quite a bit. The overall appearance was unkept. It needs some TLC.We did not feel comfortable staying there for the morning breakfast. If you can, drive the extra 30 min to stay in Beaumont.Was surprised to see the Wyndham brand attached to this.

Wasn't bad, the beds aren't the best. You get what you pay for. Both ladies that we spoke to were nice. We ended up leaving at midnight our dog isn't a big fan of sleeping in a strange place. Every little noise made her more attentive than normal.

The hotel needs TLC asap - The front desk attendant was very nice and accommodating, but for $70+/night I was hoping for the facility to be a bit nicer and intact. My husband and I pulled up to tarps on the roof - The lobby, elevator & hallways smelled of smoke and something funky. Fortunately the room (which we purchased a non-smoking) did not. The bed was clean but there are no fitted sheets just a flat sheet with a cigarette burn in it, the counter with the sink is help up by 3 different screws (which you can tell do not belong) there was hair on the wall of the bathroom and the shower head had ALOT of buildup. -- If you are heading to the dear lease this is fine, but anything other than that it is not, including how much they charge for these conditions. I hope Super 8/Wyndham Hyatt looks into there establishments and work on the quality of these properties. Kountze is such an amazing small town with even more amazing community and Super 8 is not giving them justice.

Please, please do NOT stay here. It is cheap because it is HORRIBLE. The staff will definitely try to get extra money out of you by saying you smoked in the room, or if you have a pet they will say they caused damage in the already disgusting rooms. Extremely rude staff and to be honest sketchy staff. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Staff was friendly at check in, but hotel property needs major upkeep/updating. Rooms downstairs smell like mildew. Hallway upstairs smells like marijuana. Cockroach in hallway. Toilet broken in room upstairs after they switched us from the original downstairs room. When we decided not to stay, the lady at the front desk was rude and blaming all the other employees for all the problems. ( The other employees were actually very nice and tried to accommodate best as possible, but there were too many issues for me with the property so we decided to leave.

Good rates (book reservation at discounted price, without paying online), helpful and courteous desk clerks and cleaning staff. Cheaper than the 2 Lumberton hotels, and much friendlier. No pool at this time. Convenience store with everything you need and dollar store, across the street. Outdated decor, but we would stay again.

Not all rooms are the same the tv in one room is from the 90s. The whole feel of the place is like being at my grandmother's house. Hot water in the sink did not work. Staff was pretty accommodating other than the low whisper when you walk by or they stop talking as soon as you walk up. Staff hangs out in the lobby. Pricing is decent and they at least have a pool. Not bad been to worse.

nice clean room but I could feel the springs in the super thin mattress. Also, I arrived super late and the attendant was super unfriendly and when asked if I could check out later then usual due to my late check in , I was promptly told no and no partial cost room charge either. I think that was completely unfair since I arrived so late I was being charged full price for a third of the time I'd be there. Did I mention the attendants manner was on the verge of being rude. In addition the room had a musty smokey smell and the only coffee in the room was decafinated.

Room was clean but smells of mildew, however, the staff was responsive and friendly. The ice machine was broken due to a citywide water problem last week. The staff brought a bag of ice to our room that they had sent someone to buy at no charge to me. I have a toddler so I really appreciated their service and their welcoming attitude. I'll come back and stay again.

I am going to begin by saying the rooms were clean and nice size. But, with that being said let me begin. Approximately 8 days before our nieces wedding my wife found this hotel. Read the reviews and decided with the limited options around the wedding venue this would be the best choice. She called and spoke to the young lady about getting 2 adjoining rooms one for us and one for our teens. She was adamant about them being adjoining rooms one king suite and a queen. She was told that wouldn't be an issue and they took her name. She offered a card to reserve and they declined stating it wasn't necessary. Again on Thursday she called to verify everything was still set as planned and assured yes it was, two adjoining rooms. As we set out Saturday morning for this big wedding event, she called for the third time to ask if we could check a little early. The clerk checked told her one room was ready, but we might have to wait an hour or so to get the second if we were there within the hour. My wife told her, oh no, it will be at least 1:30 before we were there. The lady said oh yeah..it would be ready and ok. (Check in is 2pm) About 1:45 we arrived at hotel. My wife went inside to get registered and pay and learns we do indeed have 2 rooms. But, not adjoining. Across from each other. Our kids have never stayed in their own room and she was worried sick. Once inside, rooms were nice size and clean, but the toilet had issues flushing. It would but you had to flush multiple times. Attended the wedding came back and wanted to relax in the hot tub. No towels at the pool, so we got them from front desk as there is only 2 towels in the rooms and we had showered before leaving for wedding. They all get in and I tried to start the hot tub. It was semi warm, but wouldn't come on. Our son went and asked and was informed it wasn't working, neither was the microwave in one room or the laundry center. Got up Sunday morning very little selection for breakfast. Juice pitcher empty and it is an hour into serving. If you do decide to stay here, bring food..everything shuts down early and asking front desk about food choices is a waste of time, very rude on the phone. For a place to lay your head at a descent rate, good. To make plans..why bother.

The room was very clean and everything worked. Very quiet. The tv was a VHS combo, so not exactly new. Lol. But worked just fine. Bed was comfortable. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. For the price, it was very comfortable stay.Two things though. (1) I did have a couple of little roaches in the bathroom and in the bed, so it’s time to call the exterminator. That said, this is a hotel the Big Thicket area of East Texas. Completely eradicating insects is probably not going to happen here. Shouldn’t be a mark against the hotel. Just a fact of life in this area. Still - call that exterminator.(2) It’s time for hotels to go to non-smoking rooms only. There just is no way to keep the smell of cigarettes out of the non-smoking rooms. Every time your neighbor next door lights up, you know it.

Not many choices in the area so, I guess, the old adage of, "beggars can't be choosers" would apply. Reserved a room on one of the internet sites but something appeared to mess up a bit. I called the motel but the person told me that the room I had just booked was "not available". She gave me other choices but at a higher price than the internet travel site was giving. I canceled the room I had reserved and called again getting a room, again, at a price $20 lower than what I'd just been quoted.The rooms were small and kind of cramped... on top of that, they had an odd smell. If that wasn't bad enough... the TV didn't work, either!

Very disappointed the room was dirty and my one year old daughter found a piece of plastic and loose grout and almost choked on both, she almost got hurt on the corner guard that is not properly mounted to the wall, my boys pulled the dresser forward because they wanted to plug in their tablets the hard way then found more trash and a rat trap.. then there was roaches..the faucet held together by duct tape and a walmart bag. I travel a lot and have never seen that many issues in one room

I'll start by saying that I stay here often and usually have NO complaints. But this time I made reservations on the website and was confirmed a "smoking" room. However, when I arrived, I was informed that there wasn't any smoking rooms available...I know some don't approve of us smokers but, I smoke!!! I don't want to go outside in the heat to smoke...the pool isn't even open either!! I had no other choice but to make good on the reservation but I would have thought I should have been offered a discount at the very least but I haven't been compensated at all for the inconvenience I've been delt!!! I'm left feeling that I did not receive the amminities I paid for!

A lot of different type of bugs were in the room. The pool and hot tub were trashed, and the pumps were off. The green luke warm water was not inviting. The smell of sewage in the morning wasn't pleasent either. Besides the pool and bugs it was nice for the price.

Stayed here for 5 months after Harvey. Housekeeping staff was so very nice to my 2 yr old so we made them crafts forthe holidays and for little gifts for them. We had been staying at anther place with a full breakfast so Super 8's didn't compare and ran out of stiff or didn't have much out.

We stayed at this hotel for over a month, we were also in good standing, have never had a complaint or issue, and have had multiple long term stays before this one. This morning, they checked us out of our room by their own choice, a day early because they saw me taking some of our stuff out to the car. I did not tell them we were checking out, because we werent, and we fully intended and counted on having a bed for the night, and now we dont. Additionally, I had left some of my things in the room, that we went back to get 4 hours after I had left the first time, and they wouldnt let me in MY room to get my stuff because they had already rented the room to a new person, the room we were suppose to have for another night. So dont waste your time or your money, because theyll just kick you out of your room because they assumed you were leaving. Id give zero stars if I could.

Horrible motel.... We was in our room for 10 minutes and left. The beds are horrible , carpet was nasty , the room stunk and there was cockroaches all over the fridge. The only good thing was the front lady was nice and gave us a refund. Went to Lumberton and got a room.

The lady at the front desk was awsome and very sweet, but the rooms were ridiculous micrpwave didnt work fridge didnt work and my brother also got a room and his microwave and fridge didnt work either, their was garbage in the trash can and the beds were very uncomfortable. never staying here again.

I stopped here because of huge storm was approaching and nightfall. I enjoyed the beautiful light show in a clean, very spacious room and my window opened halfway so I could hear the rain and thunder all night. Very pleasant stay.

Paid $76+ and the first room my kids and I were put in had black moldy stuff under the window, an ant bed and spiders. It also stunk like mildew. The second room didn't have as much mold ect but it had roaches EVERYWHERE. No fitted sheets either. Woke up stuffy and ready to get out of that nasty place. Oh and the A/C didnt work in the middle of August!!!

Room stinks like mildew. Carpets haven't been vacuumed in a maybe a week or several days with stains. No fitted sheets on completely worn out taco shaped beds that a more like a trampoline than a bed. Clock doesn't work because someone stole the cord. Chairs have broken off arms. A wash cloth had a hair on it. One of the shower towels has obviously just been thrown unfolded on the rack, probably dirty. Toilet was kind of crooked on the floor. Moved it back into place.
