I adopted my Bentley a few years ago, and I decided to write a review now. The employees were super helpful and gave me plenty of time and room to look at the dogs. I also got backstory on how the dogs got in, and it also made my tear up because it was so sad. Thank you, Human Society, for helping me find my baby!!(P.s. the first photo is from 2022 when he was still a little baby)

I adopted a dog named Thor from Athens animal rescue i returned Thor since he kept attacking me and i have a year old and it became a safety concern. The shelter said they understood showed them the marks and bruising from the dog. They recommend me to go here to look for a family dog and maybe even a dog train as a service animal i come here, talk to the people at the desk and let them know what’s going on they helped me look at 2 dogs. One of the dogs I really liked said she wasn’t up for adoption, so why show me her? Anyways I liked the other puppy as well and when i asked to look at him again the operation manger comes and talks to me telling me I have been flagged and will no longer be able to adopt. She said Thor wasn’t aggressive at the shelter but they euthanize him. And my home was not a safe environment for animals. She said my home is too loud since i have a toddler and was stressing the dog out. My house is almost 3k square feet with big rooms, my toddler stays mostly him mine or his room which is connected and Thor was always in the living room out ruining outside in the yard. They blamed me for Thor attacking us even tho the shelter recommended him for us knowing we have a 1.5 year old. Thor would leave your whole arm bruised from biting and even drew blood and it was something we couldn’t have around our baby. Everyone said they understood why we returned him so i really don’t know why we were flagged. Yes we tried to train him not to bite and i did everything I could. I can’t be the only one they have done something like this too (dog and bite marks and a little bruising in pictures below for proof)

The awesome people at the humane society helped me feed the community cats in my neighborhood. I have tried to get help for so long. I wish there was something I could do for all these cats, but now it's starting to get me in trouble. Shame on people that dump animals. The animals don't understand why you just left them alone and hungry 😭

We got our dog Mia from this shelter and they were so helpful, kind, and obviously love the animals. We love our baby! Thank you for helping us find someone perfect for our home. She may have lived on the streets but now she guards our chicken coop during the day and keeps our feet warm at night.

Very nice, helpful people! Every dog we looked at was extremely nice and taken care of. The labradoodle (right side of picture) we adopted has been nothing short of perfect!

Nicest people, and clean facilities. Volunteers socialize the dogs, and you can tell they love it. I definitely recommend checking them out if you are looking to find a furever pet.

This place is absolutely amazing! We just got our new baby from this facility, the staff treats the animals amazing and set us up right away. Our 1 year old dog is now in a happy home with us!

We went to see if we could adopt a specific dog but someone else had already adopted him. It is okay since it sounds like the dog was going to a good home. Also dropped off a case of wet food for the dogs since they can always use the supplies. The people that work/volunteer there are great people and were very nice to us.

My wife and I had went in the hopes of looking for a dog to adopt; however, upon arrival they refused to show us a single animal in person. I was shown the same pictures on the website and was told to fill out an adoption form on the animal before we could see them the following week. We chose to go to StrayDogInc in eustace instead where we were shown any animal we wanted whether it fit our needs or not and the staff was very helpful/respectful. "Adopt don't shop" is a joke to HSCCL.

I found a dog outside of Forney city limits and am keeping him safe. I filled out the “found pet” form on their website. When you submit the form, it says someone would contact you soon. I also called and left a message. I never received a response from either inquiry.

Very very disappointed in the service that is provided at this place. No true compassion for these animals and don’t care who they go to. They only care about the money they receive. The experience with this place caused my family pain during a fostering process and just overall what a disappointment. They do not care or respect the information you give them about the pet when finding homes good home and totally disregarded the fact that our foster dog was not good with kids and allowed them to take her home with them and not listen to what we have explained to them. Come to find out she wasn’t watched carefully and lost. I can’t believe this. I would recommend this as your last resort but be careful if you come here

The staff to me personally was not the best. They weren’t rude but they weren’t exactly nice. I got my puppy from here and my poor baby had a bunch of fleas! As a shelter you would think that they have a safe place for the puppies or at least keep them clean. I told the women who worked there, and she just said, “ soap and water will get them off.” They need to take better care of puppies, or not hand them off to people with a bunch of fleas.

As a former employee, I can say they put on a great act. Management is horrible, they have no communication skills. They talk at you not to you. What people see when they go to this place is all an act. They encourage employees to foster, but when the employees no longer work there, they DEMAND for the foster to be brought back or to be adopted by said employee. As an employee, they do exactly what anybody else would do to foster, including signing the paperwork. They stay over full of dogs and cats, but only have MAYBE half of them posted on the website and Facebook pages to be adopted. They ARE a kill shelter no matter what they say. I DO NOT recommend working there, or allowing a pet to be taken there. You're better off just giving the pets away. Also, research the information they give you if you do go up there! They have been wrong on so msny occasions.

I found a dog on their website yesterday and fell in love with her picture. My husband called today, as they were closed yesterday, and Carol confirmed she was still available for adoption and took the adoption fee. He planned to go on Saturday to pick her up. He was called back later by Teresa, the manager, and advised that someone who worked for the center adopted her yesterday (while they were closed). She advised him that Carol knew the dog was adopted. He was very excited about her as he’s been looking for a dog like her for a long time and she was exactly what she was looking for. I feel like we were pushed aside and treated unfairly. We should have been able to adopt her especially after paying the fee. It really sucks getting excited then getting let down.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Tone of voice was a huge issue, never been treated with flat out disrespect. When asking simple questions we were given sarcastic responses. If they can’t treat people with with simple kindness I wonder how the animals are treated.

Drove three hours for a puppy today, brought it home and noticed it is very sick. Before adopting we had asked about her health and they said she was good, just a little spot on her stomach which they claimed was not ringworm and would need to get checked out. She has green discharge coming from her nose, is coughing and wont eat anything. This is now going to cost us a hell of a lot more than the $125 adoption fee as I have other dogs too which can get sick now as well and will have to also take them to the vet. There is no way they didn't know she was sick unless they severely neglect the dogs, they had to know she was sick. The vet said this had to be going on for awhile as sick as she is, she had to get fluids at the vet, antibiotics, nausea medication so she would keep down food and water. and then see how she responds to treatment and will have to come back again. All the dogs are on medication now. She also has fleas, was told when we got her they checked for fleas and she didn't have any.

Was extremely interested in adopting a dog today but the staff said she was new and the others were on break so we were not able to go back and look at the dogs, however instead they were going to bring ones to us to look at which would have been more of a hassle and took longer for both of us we had no breed specific or age. So instead of adopting we left and will be looking at other shelters seems to me these guys aren't as interested in getting dogs adopted as they should be.

We adopted our precious Daisy from here. She stole our hearts immediately. The dogs all seem very happy here. The ONLY reason I give them 3 stars is because we got our dog a week ago tomorrow. She came down with a case of kennel cough 3 days ago. She is recovering great. When we called for advice and or to have her checked out the lady acted like we were fools and that she was offended at our question. Yes they ,“ treat them when they come in” ,but the gestation period is about a week. We should have had the chance for some kind of help or at least advice instead of just being told to take her to a vet. Don’t let this review effect your decision to adopt a fur baby but be prepared to do your research if need be or pay for a vet.

We adopted a new family member on Monday! We drove all the way from Fort Worth, Texas! These folks were kind enough to be patient and wait on us, even though it was a holiday. We can’t thank them enough for being a part of bringing this amazing dude into our lives!

Very kind, enthusiastic people that want to help get their animals into some good hands efficiently. I drove out here twice from Frisco area, North Dallas. I was late to my second and final appointment but nothing was mentioned thankfully. My only suggestion to anyone looking to adopt-- Make sure to take appropriate steps to de-flea and isolate from any other dogs you have before familiarizing them with each other. I didn't do the math in my head and did it in the wrong order and gave them all fleas, which was bad on my end, and totally understandable as this shelter is mostly an outside-shed type! They even gave me a free kennel and a free toy at the time. I was charged $125 for a long hair chihuahua. :-]

Had to give a 1 star because it required but I do not recommend this shelter at all. Ive had family recieve a puppy with distemper from here as well as know for a fact that the shelter refused to return dogs to their owners despite the owners providing all proof of ownership, lied about why they couldn't return the dogs on a Saturday then Monday when they allowed the owners to pick up their dogs told them the female had been adopted out. Accused them of being backyard breeders because the female had recently had puppies despite not knowing anything about this dog or the owners . The shelter is shady. They don't actively seek owners for the animals they recieve and adopt out sick animals.

The staff here were so sweet and so patient. They gave us a complete tour and answered all our questions as we searched for a possible new member of our family. Our 3 year old daughter was welcome to touch, pet, and play with all possible candidates. All cages were immaculately clean, if one became soiled, one of the workers would immediately remove the mess, I was very impressed with this shelter. Even though we didnt find a match for our family I will highly advocate Cedar Creek Humane Society and will Gladly add them to my donation list.
