This place was recommended to me as a kitschy store with interesting things to shop for, and a good sandwich shop. While it does have souvenirs and sandwiches, the quality and service were decidedly sub-par. The antique/kitsch part of the shop had surprisingly little selection and took all of 2 minutes to browse. The restaurant is an order-at-the-counter affair, where the woman taking our order was clearly in a sour mood. It took 45 minutes to bring out a burger and pre-made chicken salad - we were nearing the point where we were just going to leave without even getting our food. To top it all off, the burger was decidedly overcooked and the chicken salad wasn't particularly good.Maybe this place was good decades ago, but they don't deserve the reputation now.

I used to go to this place all the time growing up and even within the past few years since I only live 30 minutes away. I entered the store today to be ignored endlessly even though I stood there for 10-12 minutes waiting for the cashiers to wrap up their conversation with a tourist. I didn’t interrupt, out of the MANNERS I was taught, and when finally given the chance to check out, they REFUSED to look me in the eye and only asked if I wanted a bag, unlike the pleasantries given to the other people. Considering the behaviour of these cashiers and owners I had never even SEEN before, they were rude and judgemental to the point of- pardon my french- jackassery I had never been given before except by 16 year olds working at McDonald’s in San Antonio. When I finally checked out I was waiting for the person I had arrived with, I was stared at to no end and even given snarky comments about how rude I WAS. THIS IS NOT A HIGH SHOOL. THIS IS A BUSINESS. You treat tourists and locals equally, not shoving one aside for the point of business.

This place is a joke: The hours are erratic and inaccurate (just look at google maps vs website vs actual behavior) - totally inconsistent. Over the last few years 2022-2024, there has been lots of kitchen turnover and management turnover, so it's NOT uncommon to walk in and get "oh, the kitchen is closed today (sucks to be you). Many food/snack items for sale on the three actual "store" shelves look like pre-war dust-covered goods, and on top of all this, the actual Hunt Cafe store merchandise is in direct copyright infringement with Hard Rock Cafe. The Hunt Store has literally lifted that design for their own merch goods for sale. Side note: the Instagram account is horrendous. Random fonts and colors and images, photos are terrible, no cohesive strategy, fonts so small I need a microscope, misspellings and poor grammar, etc, etc. Please hire a local teen or any tech savvy adult to at the very least up your game. Someone, please take the reigns and lead this away from the cliff!

An interesting place. A quaint rustic Texas hill country little store. With a bank that has the look and feel of an old western Bank. Where the tellers are caged behind twisted iron bars. I had a chopped beef barbecue bun with potato salad. It was delicious. I found that they sold a rarity Dr. Pepper made with real cane sugar. If you all are in the area you should stop in.

One of a kind place. The last convenient stop before heading to MO RANCH, the family camping spot. I decided to go for a cruise in my car one day and ended up at The Hunt Store. It has upgraded to the outdoors. It has an area for a band, BBQ pit, and quite a few tables to eat their great food. It had been a long time since we took the family camping trip but when we did go we would stop here and grab the necessitates and a burger. Don't change to much yall, stay Kool! AWESOME BURGERS

Stumbled upon this place while exploring the Hill Country. Owner was very friendly and shared with us the store's history, etc. We came back for the specialty lunch of Chicken Fettichini Alfredo. OMG! It was amazing! It was Sept and their hours were limited due to the wind down of the season and a kitchen remodel but it was enough for us and we thought the place must be really fun in the summer with the patio open and live music.

Mixed feelings here. The Hunt Store was awesome years back and the food has always been solid. They used to have great BBQ offerings and live music several times a week but sadly both have ended. They started serving pizza and it is actually very good but I've had it twice and both times they got the order wrong which is very disappointing. I could have easily gotten past it if it was handled with some decorum but the individual who brought the pizza seemed upset that we were not satisfied with pizzas with the wrong toppings. He returned a bit later with a hastily "corrected" pie (olives added and barely warmed) and accused my wife & I of having an attitude and that he was " sick of you people" (we had never met him) because I mentioned they were 0/2 getting our order correct. (No yelling, cursing, etc., just a statement) He left the "corrected" pie & took the 2nd pizza back (also incorrect) and said he was refunding the $$ for both which I guess is an acceptable way to handle it (1 pizza for 4 people ain't exactly great and I would rather have paid fully for 2 correct items) but the manner in which it was done was extremely unprofessional. I may try them out again because it's close & I've had some great times and meals here but today's experience was a total fiasco. If they could get an order correct I wouldn't have had an unpleasant experience with the Hunt Store or the person who delivered our meal. ***Edit*** it turns out he lied about refunding our money as well.

Go here if you're in the area! Huge selection and I can't wait to go back and try more. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was perfect. My daughter had the kids corn dog and it was literally the best corn dog either of us had in our lives.

My mother in law and I went there, and had one of the best cheeseburgers we have ever had. The staff was very friendly, atmosphere was great. We went foe lunch midweek so it was not very crowded. There is plenty of parking, and the Hunt store often has live music on the weekends. The drive to The Hunt Store is beautiful. Well worth the stop!

I have lived in Hunt for 4 years now. I can call myself a local now I suppose. I have dropped in at the store to get gas, I grab gourmet coffee, grab a drink, and grab a bite to eat, and enjoyed the entertainment when it was offered many, many times over the past four years. When they had the meat market, we bought all our meat there. We have been pretty loyal customers... not tourists. We visit year round, not just during the summer months. They have a sign posted on the door AND I CAN READ. It says the restroom is for customers. I am coming in from town. I needed to fill up before heading up to my house. I chose not to fill up in town, but at the store. While filling up, I ran in the store to use the restroom. I had no idea when I ran in, I was being stalked. When I came out, I was immediately informed that the restroom was for customers. Ironically, I was a customer and, more ironically, I have been a customer for 4 years. This employee was too lazy to even peek outside and see if I might have been filling up with gas.... she instead just jumped my @ss. Guess what.... I will choose to do my business not at the store anymore. Yep, this one person and her family, which will not make a difference to you, will not buy her gourmet coffee there, not fill up with gas, will not eat, grab a drink heading back to her house from town, and will not bring or recommend any guests or family members to patronize your establishment anymore. The food is still great! But, over the four years that we have lived here, we have watched the store go downhill. This is a perfect example of it. They used to have great, fun, welcoming folks running it and it was such a great place to come to. Now, it has the POTTY POLICE waiting at the front door.

This place is amazing!!!The burger and the chicken sandwich were awesome, the atmosphere is very “hill country Texas” and the staff is top notch! I even left something there and they drove it to the ups store for me. Great people and a great place! Do yourself a favor and stop in if you are anywhere close.

Stopped by this place after a beautiful drive through the hill country. Had the diablo burger. Took a good few minutes to get our food but it was fantastic and absolutely worth the wait. They have a great selection of drinks and wine in the coolers, lots of snacks and essentials, and even Blue Bell ice cream! People were friendly and bathrooms were clean. I recommend this as a stop for sure!

New to Texas as of 2 weeks ago. Great atmosphere, location is beautiful,Store had plenty of options restaurants had amazing food at great prices. Texas burger was amazing. House fries were top notch .I will definitely take that drive for the food and price of it.

We ordered pizza to go a few weeks ago. It was actually very good but it had the wrong toppings.We called in 2 pizzas today and decided to come in and eat them there. When the first one came out it had the wrong toppings. This time we brought it to their attention. The man seemed extremely irritated. He left the pizza and went back to the kitchen. I assumed he was remaking the other one. I separated the slices on the pizza he left to let them cool. He came back a few minutes later and grabbed the pizza off the table. I had already waited 50 minutes from the time we ordered and I was starving. I went up to the counter and said I would keep one of the pizzas and they could just remake one. The man yelled "I am sick of you people, you didn't eat any when it was sitting on your table." He eventually brought new pizzas and started insulting us as he gave them to us. When I told him that he had no reason to yell at me when I came to the counter. He took a pizza back and said he was refunding our money and to get out. There was a very large party there right before us and I understand that it can get stressful. However, that is no excuse to take it out on the next customer that comes through the door. It was really a very frustrating experience.

The BBQ and the menu choices are 100% Hill country delicious. The sandwiches are out of this world. I’ve got to give a shout out to the staff. They were prompt, courteous, and downright neighborly in how they treated our group. This place is 100% Texas though and through.

We stopped in after a day at the river with our dogs. It has a nice outdoor area with plenty of shade. We asked for a dog water bowl since we forgot ours and they provided us with one. I wanted to order The Papi but they were “out”, bummer. I ordered the Chicken Diablo instead. The bread was super squishy and yummy, all of the flavors were great together my only complaint is the chicken was a little bit too dry. My husband ordered The Pulled Pig, he really enjoyed the flavor of the meat and the bbq sauce. It was a large serving of pork for sure! Both orders came with what they call a “sample” of homefried chips and these are THE star, so crunchy and salty, yum!Update: 7/15 - went with again and ordered the corn dog, YUM! Had no problem ordering the corn dog as other reviewers have mentioned they did. We also had the bacon and bleu burger, it was huge, I recommend sharing it. Also ordered the onion rings, they had kind of a sweet beer batter, definitely worth a try!!

Unfortunate there is not a zero star option! This is one of our families favorite lunch spots til today! Sounds silly but we love the corn dogs and atmosphere.Until today when we were refused menu items due to age. I've always got the same menu item, a CORN DOG, always. No issues.Today refused to sell us menu items due to "new updated" menu!Called to speak to management, no success there. I am confused why a business would turn down a family with a child.We will not return because it's frustrating driving from out of town to be refused service of food due to age.

What a great place this is. Everyone in both the restaurant and market area we're amazingly friendly. That's something I really appreciate when I travel. The hamburger that I had was the best hamburger I've had in many years. Also bought BBQ sauce.

Called in the order. Traveled across town for some views and a suprise gentle rain. When I arrived there was a minimal wait. Picked up the goods and headed home. I got to see a favorite person inside the store who was visiting as well. Kings BBQ satiated my inner carnivore with the "Cleaver and Sauce". Oh my goodness y'all! So yummy. A perfect blend of chopped, slow roasted brisket with their house BBQ sauce on a Brioche bun. Perfection!! I will make the trip again. Love the local Hunt Store vibe and authenticity!! Folks make the trip out to Hunt, Texas, it will not disappoint.

This place is beyond awesome! The general store can get you by but it’s the restaurant in the back you don’t want to miss. Perfect chicken fried steaks and my kids who are notorious picky eaters wanted seconds. Food is A+. Service: can’t beat it!! The restaurant was closed when we came in from a long road trip but John, the owner, cheerfully fired up the grill to feed our family of 6. He and everyone there treated us like family even though we made them stay late. Thank you John for your hospitality and your hilarious nature. Last-minute Billy and his family appreciate you and will always stop at The Hunt Store when in the Hill Country.

This is a quaint, local place.King's Texas BBQ, a local, is served here and is really good. Lots of meat and fixings choices on the menu. The meat is nicely smoked and not overly salted and they are not stingy with the portions.The food and folks factor here is excellent.

Not a lot of groceries, but a few essentials. Grab lunch and pull up a chair. Chilly days, the fireplace is stoked. Folks are welcome to grab a drink and visit. Entertainment during the season. Must stop whenever you are in Hunt.

Some of the BEST food i’ve ever had. I’ve been to 48 states and this is on my top 5. Seriously. The cooks are friendly and appreciative of your business. The store has some drinks, snacks, beer. anything you need they got it.
