I am disappointed with the management, customer service, and employees lack of expertise on knowing species of animals at the Petco off Westheimer and Voss. Went in on 3/27/24 and saw advertised that the black capped conure was 50% off. Asked an employee to help me out. She claimed they, along with everyone else in the store, is scared to grab the bird since they bite, so I had to wait for the manager. Waited for the manager to come only to be confused when she told me that the conure, which was a green cheek conure and mislabeled as a fancy conure, was the black capped conure for 50% off. When I corrected the manager on which bird was actually the black capped conure they had in store and pointed out the label problem, she got irritated with me and babbled on about how the breeder they received the “black capped conure” from was labeled as so when they received the bird and the labels were correct. I let the manager know I was not interested in buying a regular green cheek conure, labeled as a fancy conure, for the price of a discounted black capped conure. Anyone with knowledge on conures would know the difference between a green cheek conure vs. a black capped conure (vs. a so called fancy conure). I started to take pictures of the birds and labels in which the manager responded by coming back over to remove all the labels and advertisement and stated, “I don’t have labels for these birds but I’ll manually make tags so everyone is happy.” Sad to say I didn’t get the black capped conure and unfortunately someone who has no knowledge on the different types of conures or has not done their research before buying, will get duped by this petco location.Went back in on 4/5/24 and not surprisedly, the birds are still mislabeled. They now changed the green cheek conures label from fancy to black capped conure and they’re still trying to sell the green cheek conure as for what they have advertised for the black capped conure. I reached out to customer service the first time on 3/27 to to share my experience, but it seems nothing was done about it and no actions were taken to ensure I felt heard about my experience and concerns while at this petco location. Please correct false advertisement, label your animals correctly, and have some integrity Petco.First photo shows the black capped conure in store. I've been to many Petco locations over time, but none of them beats these guys. It's always at least one of the same four staff members working when I'm able to visit, and they're fun and easy to talk to. Robin has proven time and again to be friendly, reliable, and helpful in a way that really makes my day better. I haven't yet gotten the names of the rest of the crew I see, but the afternoon/evening staff here is always phenomenal.

Don’t bother if you are looking at fish. Literally had a crowd of people waiting for something who was lackadaisical and just did not care to stay in the designated area. Due to spending so much time there, the lack of healthy fish also became apparent bc so many were dead. I went to the front to ask for assistance when he was just chatting wit a coworker upfront. When he finally came around a fifth time, I was ignored as he assisted another party. I just walked out after that. Not sure what your hiring practices are Petco… but they are not working. Best of luck with your unhealthy fish department. Too bad for the fish however.

The store is well stocked and they have great deal (especially during Christmas time). I was most impressed with the sales associate. I think her name is Robin. She was exceptionally helpful. She even helped me read the labels on dog treats to weed out the ones with meat since my dog has a meat allergy. I was so thankful she dropped everything she was doing to help me. I was in a hurry that day and needed the assistance. The original item I found online, is only an online deal; they no longer carry it in the stores. Having to start all over and being in a hurry was a bad combination. I hope she her superior knows how much I valued the help and for this, I will absolutely return to the store even though it’s not convenient to my home of office.

The first time I went to this location, after standing at the empty cash register for a few minutes with no one arriving to help, I just put my stuff back and walked out.The second time, I asked for a 25 dollar set of clippers from behind the locked case, and the associate insisted on walking them to the cash register for me so that I don't steal them.Kind of ridiculous, not going to lie. I am not going to bother trying this place again.

It never happened the system was down on their end? And when I showed the stylist my appointment and confirmed that I had no cancellation email he then stated he was working on his last dog for the day and couldn’t help me. Then on my way out o spoke to a manager about it to where she stated that it was a mistake on their part and that they’d take her as a walk in and honor the appointment time, then as I was going through the paper work process i asked about the deshed process because that was my dogs original appointment the stylist "dylan" then said since she was now a walk in all he could do was a basic bath to which i simply cancelled as i wasn't looking for a basic groom. overall the stylist didn't care that the system messed up and didn't try to remedy the situation at all. he would barely give any effort until told by a manager and as soon as she left he went back to being very little help.

Went this weekend looking for Dog trainer Carla and she left this location. New male dog trainer is not up to par. He was unfamiliar with different types of leashes and that is all I needed to know to get out. Anyone have dog trainer Carla’s contact? I urgently need her help.

Went in to buy some things for my fish tank, Chele and Robin helped me out. Chele was knowledgable on fish matters and was really nice! I think I'll make this my new pet store because they had everything I needed for all of my animals. I've been struggling to find my cats food at other pet stores and everytime I call into this petco and they always have it in stock. They had a nice selection of "Raw/gently cooked" food as well.

I've never written a review...ever. But I was so annoyed and frustrated with this staff that I felt the need to go out of my way and do so. I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog but when I arrived they said they would not take her in because the proof of rabies vaccine paper was handwritten and not a printed copy. They said it was a PETCO policy because the document could be forged, when I asked to be shown where in the policy it said that; the manager blew me off and said it was an internal policy that she could not make an exception for. Honestly it just felt like an excuse...I went down the street and PETSMART took her right in with no issues, pretty embarrassing but that staff at PETCO won't care.

This store is dangerous!! In the best of ways. How can any pet lover walk in here and not splurge on all of the amazing available items. The store is so clean and si organized. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and clearly all love pets themselves. I don't have pets though I'm an aunt to these fur babies and look after them often. So much fun to buy them doggie treats at this location!

The young lady, Jannet, that groomed my puppy today did an amazing job. She pretty much did exactly what I wanted and not only that she was very sweet. I am a satisfied dog momma 💜 before and after pics of my little one.

After scheduling appts for vaccines, and driving near an hour, I was told they couldn't receive shots bc of recent diarrhea. I understand that. So I asked if they could do anything for the diarrhea or recommend anything I could do, and they said they'd have to go to petco hospital. I'd tried scheduling at Kemah hospital and they said no, was only for pets seen at clinic and found something wrong with them. Very frustrating but however educational.

I was feeling real low that day. I had 2 yorkies that I allowed to stay at a family member’s house until I got settled here in Houston. They where there for 2 months and I went to get them. They where in bad shape full of fleas hair matted. They did a great job getting them in and getting them cut. But the best part was the young man that checked me out. I guess he could see I really didn’t have 300 to spend on grooming. But they needed it so I was going to sacrifice it. But I didn’t have too this young man had me sign them up for a savings plan it gave me so many discounts that my total including the plans was less then $100. Thank you sir for providing excellent customer service. I can remember his name he’s a young black man with glasses.

My little rescue is afraid of everything and everyone, I have to give your groomers 5 stars for being sensitive to her shyness. They make her feel so at ease that she's actually calm when she's getting her nails filed! The sales people are awesome also! We love you!

Do NOT take your dog to the groomer at this location. The groomer male with tattoo on his forearm is aggressive and injured my dog. Take your dog to another location for grooming services.

Downgrading my previous review to 1 star, since Terrell refused to take responsibility for what he did to my baby (nearly cut off his back paw). Plus, this is the UGLIEST grooming cut I've ever seen. I asked for a nice Teddy Bear cut, a nice rounded head, ears rounded and even with the bottom of Bamboo's chin. Instead, Bamboo nearly lost his paw, and his head looks grossly misshapen, like the McDonald's arches. And his muzzle is also crooked and the hair on his chin is very choppy. After I gave him a $10 tip on a $42 groom.Supposedly, Terrell is Petco's best groomer in all of Houston. Very, very upset.(Previously, a couple of months ago)Unfortunately, my service dog had a terrible grooming experience at another Petco, so we came to this Petco, and Terrell rectified his ugly haircut from the other Petco groomer. The 1st two pictures are of the ugly haircut (it was worse-looking from the side; his forehead was cut very unevenly and very short that he looked like a Neanderthal).

Went in to get a couple of fish, didn't realize this location closes at 7. It was about 7:45 and when I asked for help, the manager was very rude and was telling me they were about to close. "What do you need? One fish, two fish?!" He proceeded to ask me in a rush. I was shocked because this location is usually staff friendly. He still helped us in the end, but the experience overall was rushed. I understand places have closing duties, but the way it was translated could've been A LOT better.

There's an old man there (canned head), he is rude and malicious. I went there to return 2 fishes, 1 dead and 1 alive, the dead died from a no obvious reason, the other one is fighting with other fishes so he decided only to refund one.
