The most complete pet supermarket in Houston, the price is not preferential, but the variety is abundant, the staff is friendly and conscientious! Shout out to Sadie in grooming for being so talented at her craft and always being gentle and kind when caring for my pups. The general manager is also an absolute gem. I have never encountered an employee at this location who isn’t pleasant. Grateful to call this my neighborhood Petco. Thanks guys!

My wife and I had an Amazing visit with Dr. Holli in the vet department!!! She was a rockstar and took such good care of our new puppy, who was full of nasty worms!!! She created a preventative plan for him and made a follow up appointment! Will refer for sure!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO GET GROOMED HERE. These people are literally incompetent. The only groomer at this place that was good at their job was Josh and he's no longer there. I took my dog to get groomed, and they immediately told me his record has him profiled as "aggressive". I explained to them that he has seen Josh multiple times without issues and only had an issue with one specific groomer years ago. I told them his very known triggers (nails and feet), which we always avoid during grooming and he does perfectly fine. They said they will "see what they can do"... I get a phone call 30 minutes later that he was trying to bite at the dryer, etc during his bath and they aren't able to do the hair cut. He has never acted out in this way before. We have been to the groomer countless times at other locations with no issues and not to mention several times at this location with Josh without problems. I picked up a half-wet dog and they had the audacity to still charge $66 and ASK FOR A TIP. If your dog has any level of anxiety, I'd recommend taking them elsewhere so that you don't waste your time and money. They don't offer muzzles, cones, or allow sedation of any kind to help with high anxiety/reactive dogs. There are countless better, more professional, and similarly priced groomers in Houston. It is not worth wasting your time with these people.

Brittany is the ONLY person I trust to take care of my baby Luna. She's great at not only her job but just an all over great person. We met her at the Hwy 6 North location and followed her to this location when she made the move. Do NOT confuse this with the Weslayan location. This location is absolutely wonderful, and Brittany is a huge part of that. Thank you for everything! You're the best.

This review is about VETCO, it has nothing to do with the store, the store is fine. Look if you really want your pet to be in really human and knowledgeable hands just don’t bring them to this VETCO, Dr Cleary is the worst veterinarian who ever take care of my dog, she just seems to want you to expend tons of money to end telling you your pet is fine when it’s not, guess what?, my pet has cancer!, another vet was able to tell right the way, perform the right exams and it was confirm.One year and al half taking my pet with Dr Cleary and she never noticed a sign?, she did not even know why paws were yellow, in other clinics even the technicians knows that. Her approach is not human at all.I read someone wrote about racism, I don’t know about that but being Hispanic that person and I, then I can relate, she always was very rude, evidently she didn’t like my accent.I wrote this review with the hope other people reads it and take their pets to other place when they can really take good care of them.

I had bought a big bag of my cat's food just a couple of days before the mailer coupon arrived. So, the salesman let me return it (unopened) and purchase it with the mailer to get the discount. Very nice! Like all the staff at my Petco very much. Always helpful.

Do not take your animal here. The nurses are so sweet but the actual veterinarian she’s a white lady I didn’t even really care to know her name. She was very rude!!! the lady the actual veterinary specifically told me everything was fine just monitor her????? Meanwhile my dog is still sick. THIS LADY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS AND SHE SHOULD LOSE HER LICENSE!!! Then she was very judgmental!!! She should not be a veterinarian!!! I WASTED $70!!! Please be aware

I requested service for my pet to get groom; my favorite location Wesleyan wasn’t available! I received a from the manager night before detouring me away! I informed her wanted to keep appointment! Then received another call the day of appointment providing negative feedback as why I shouldn’t have service vs a positive attitude or experience for grooming service by the groomer salon manager Brittney! Very disappointing and unprofessional customer service! Worst service before getting service; after reading grooming reviews I take it has God way of making sure my dog wouldn’t get harmed!

Ms Brittany is great with my dog luna. She used to work at the highway 6 location and when I heard she was switching locations I didn't hesitate to make the extra drive just because I know she's a great human and is amazing with our dog. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK BRITTANY!!!

This location needs to be closed down!!! These people actually do not care and the white woman that is actually the veterinarian is even worse! I would not recommend taking your animal there. I’m convinced that they are the one writing their own “positive” reviews because on yelp they have a 2 star!!! Don’t take your animal here! A waste of time and money!

My adorable kitti "His Majesty" had an infection in his left front paw,He couldnt put any weight on it,painful and unbearable.I was in pain myself,just to look at him limp,and his sad expression.I tried to fin a Vet near home most of places require an appointment prior to visit.Vetco was the great solution,not only got the first appoinment in the morning,but next day,which was most convenient.We got there about one hr earlier,lady at front desk was ver patience and polite.She helped us for the intake,and few minutes later they informed us Vet lady was in and ready to check on "His Majesty" oh Lord !! total relief.He immediately was a lot better I could see it in his eyes.They took care of him nicely.I was recommended all what he needed that day,I still have the option to choose what I wanted to be done which is really appreaciated. "His Majesty" got the attention He needed that day.My dearest got home with his meds and ready to get well.I highly recommend Vetco.they got promo codes for first timers and more.and All their personnel is very niceand helpful at all times,Thanks again for taking care of "His Majesty" my beloved son

Went to pick up my dog food and the order got canceled ordered a in stock replacement and wait over 30 minutes before asking customers service if it was ready. As I was asking another worker was bringing it over, I pointed out the bag and..... THE LADY WAS EXTREMELY RUDE! she said "next time wait until you get the email confirmation... even thought it was practically ready. Please keep in mind I am 4"10 and this is a 45 pund bag of dog food the same size as me.. the male worker handed me to bag instead of even offering to put it in a basket for me... worst customer service I've ever experienced at a petco... never going to this location again! The north Shepard location is much better.

When I came to visit the grooming, the main task was just to cut the nails, but we were persuaded to do a luxury package (I don't remember the name), I warned that please brush the dog, he has a lot of hair. They told me that they would do everything. I paid $100 and I just don't understand why when the hair is left.

Edit: Was initially very unhappy with our dog’s groom, believe Sadie cut her, but their manager reached out and was very apologetic and on top of things, we brought her back and they did what they could to make her look much better. We were happy with the groom after the correction.…Took our poodle here for the 2nd time. Her hair was all uneven, didn’t trim her butt, the hair was not blended and looks like a mess. Didn’t trim her underbelly well and all for a 6 hour wait. Very disappointed.

Grooming location was very disappointing and scary. I brought my 8 month old puppy in for a bath and nail trimming and when I returned she was bleeding everywhere. When I asked what happened they stated that her groomer Nina must have done it and didn’t tell anyone. When I followed back up with the manager Brittany the next day she just stated she was not there so she didn’t know what to say and stuff happens. No apology or sympathyWill not return

The manager Lisa went above and beyond to help us get the right food and toys for our 8 week old Pomeranian puppy, even though the store was about to close and it was a holiday. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Best experience I’ve ever had at any retail pet store.

I'm disappointed to share that my friend and his dog were not treated well at this petco store. The manager refused service and made them feel unwelcome, even accused him of faking vaccines while he had proof. This was followed by an unwarranted attack by the manager on my friend's PERSONAL business online. She is not a customer of his and is defaming his personal character and business online. Very unprofessional, problematic employees here as you can see from recent reviews. After hearing about this experience, I would not trust the employees at this location to take care of my precious dog. I hope this feedback helps improve customer service in the future.

Executive summary: The groomers are jerks.Scheduled a grooming here and it was canceled a few minutes after they opened because I normally use the Weslayan location for grooming.If they do that, gotta wonder what else they do for equally petty reasons.

Grooming Issues: This was my first time taking my pet Scoti to this location for grooming. I specifically spoke with the person who provides the grooming services and explained that my dog is sensitive to particular perfume and strong odor shampoo. I brought my own shampoo and the explained that they could not use my shampoo that I was requesting for scoti. They told me not to worry because they have a hypoallergenic oatmeal cleaner with no odor. However when I picked Scoti up they used a perfume shampoo and he began having issues breathing. I had to wash off all the other cleaner and shampoo him twice to remove all of the other product. Even for me it was strong. I am not sensitive to perfumes and I could smell this shampoo very strong. After bathing him he stopped having dificulties with breathing. I am a RN and when patients tell us the have allergies or something to that effect we listen and accomadate. For the pets, they cannot speak. When they are in stress and in difficulties they rely on us to advocate for them. I feel as if I failed my pet, becasue even though I advocated for him, they still did exactly what they promised me they wouldn't and it caused my pet a stressful moment that I had to take action in order to remove the cause of that stress that could have been prevented if PETCO did what they promised. I feel these people are deceptive and really do not care about our pets.

Nina in grooming took 5min to come to the counter to say I was 5 minutes late & needed to reschedule. Petco is doing so well they charge "equipment fees" on top of the services. I waited 40min past appointment timethe prior visit for the groomer to arrive to work.

I get my two dogs groomed at the Petco on Wesleyan all the time without issue. Once in a blue moon, I’ll take them to this River Oaks location when Wesleyan is fully booked. The first time I took them to River Oaks, they charged me an extra fee because one of them was aggressive even though no other grooming place has done this. Today, I scheduled two appointments online at 2:30PM. They called me noting that it’d be better to bring them in during a less busy time to help with his uneasiness, so we moved the appointment up to 1PM. I come in & they immediately tell me that there are a lot of “bad notes” for him and that they will “try” but as soon as he shows any sign of aggression, I will have to pick him up immediately… ???? why was this not relayed to me over the phone when they called to push the appointment? If this was the case, I would’ve just cancelled both appointments and waited until there was availability at Wesleyan as not to waste my time grooming just one. But because I had already driven there, I leave them both to be groomed. The “aggressive” one ended up not being bathed or groomed at all (again… wasted my time) and the other supposedly had fleas. In my 5 years with the older one and 2 years with the younger one, never once have I ever found fleas on either of them nor has any groomer ever mentioned any. But obviously, it’s not something I can prove or argue so I just have to accept the additional fee. As for the aggressive one, I can admit he is difficult with grooming but he has no issues being bathed… the fact the he was not bathed or groomed just tells me they’re lazy and did not even attempt to work with him so now I have to take him next week to the Wesleyan location (when I would’ve much rather just cancelled both & waited !). Also, my dogs have the longest most beautiful lashes and they cut them short every time (other places have the common sense to leave them)!! All that to say, I will not be taking them to this location again. I have strong suspicion they are dishonest to slap on extra fees & are unwilling to work with a bit of aggression that is definitely manageable (because other places manage it just fine!)

Worst experience of my life with the groomer Nina who doesn’t want to do her job and the manager who refuses to give her name but it is comfortable kicking people out of her store instead of having a conversation. I walked in and showed them my vaccine records for my dog to get groomed. Off the rip Nina said the vaccines are fake and can’t accept. My vet is connected to Petco (vetco) so I had them walk in and vouch for me that the vaccines are legitimate as soon as that happened Nina said she refuses the appointment because she’s uncomfortable now even though the facts have been corrected. I asked to speak to the manager and she refused to speak with me or give me her name. I have a 2 pound dog and I’m trying to speak calmly and she’s smiling saying to lower my voice immediately after she kicks me out of the store and threatens to call the police all for her asking for her name. This place is disgusting and they refuse to do their job. I have a picture of the manager willingly smiling and posing instead of doing her job.
