One of my favorite bookshops! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Different genre and topics sections so it’s easy to find the book you’re looking for or in the mood to get. Loads of natural light, a cute bookshop dog, & so many cute little extra things you can get like tote bags, notebooks, cards, stickers and much more.

So I’m gonna be that guy, I guess. I’m sure this place is a good, even great bookstore. My issue is with how they handle book signings. I have purchased two (tried to get another but it was sold out) over the years. I went in to inquire about my last purchase, which admittedly was a long time ago. But I don’t recall getting a reminder about it and there was no follow up about picking it up. When I went in to inquire, they told me they no longer had it. Ok, I forgot, but no reminder? No refund? No store credit? Nope. They keep what I paid and I get nothing.I went to look back through my emails to see how much I paid and found an even older order that they canceled. They said in their response to my inquiry on that one that they emailed all purchasers about the cancellation. Well I didn’t get one and had to inquire on my own. Even when I requested refund, I got no confirmation of that.Keep in mind, I have purchased signed books from stores all over the country. I have attended in person book signings several times. I have a stack of signed books and memorabilia taller than me. So I’m not new to book signings. This is just the only bookstore that has cancelled or kept my money after an event in this manner. My suggestion would be to offer credit or offer to ship the book, like other places do. That way I become a long term customer and buy again and again. As it stands, I think this is bad business and wouldn’t make another purchase online from them ever again.

I've only been to this bookstore once, but I enjoyed my visit. It's a small shop but there's a wide variety of books. I prefer science fiction books and there was a good variety of books for me to pick from. The staff were very friendly too. The bookstore is far from my home, but I do plan to make future trips.

This was my second stop on the Houston Book Crawl As a lover of all things books I was not thrilled about this stop for several reasons. First and foremost the employees never acknowledged our presence in the store and they were very focused on a story one of their co-workers was telling. They did have a great selection of books but staff was not very personable and did not seem to care if we were there or not.

Great place. I went to find children's books with my two sons. Overall, a good collection, neatly presented books, and a calming atmosphere. I especially liked that almost all of the items were books but not toys that distract children in some other bookstores.

Wow! This bookstore is great! They have a great selection of books. There's also themed areas including Halloween, black authors, and indigenous voices. The children's area is also great and has books for all ages. There are author signing events too. The staff is super friendly and helped us quickly. Make sure to bring a card because they're not taking cash at this moment. The parking lot is also spacious!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Website is easy to check on available books. I was looking for a specific book and prefer to support local businesses, and was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I needed. The website even tells the location (although that may be superfluous since it's a cozy store). In-person purchase was easy and enjoyable, and the store itself is tidy, cheerful, and enjoyable to visit

The wide range of genres in this tiny little haven is excellent. Bit of a drive to get to, but worth the trip, great staff, great setup.

Brazos is a haven for anyone seeking to explore the current landscape of literature. The staff work like curators at a museum, and the selection of books is exemplary. Books for all ages, all subjects, and all manner of curiosity. It is a beautiful place.

I buy all my books here (except for religious books, which I buy at church). I never use Amazon for anything, books included, because it abuses its employees. I always prefer brick and mortar stores anyway, especially Mom & Pop businesses. Brazos Bookstore is perfect!

What a beautiful and peaceful bookstore! I visited yesterday where there was a publisher’s event. I saw a great mix of new releases, classics, books that were on my radar, and books that immediately made my “Want to Read” list. There was some nice stationery and journals as well. Chain bookstores can be so overwhelming with choices so you usually just get what you came for and leave, but Brazos had employee reviews, and hosts monthly book clubs, making your purchase feel much more worthwhile. I ended up buying a book for my students, and a YA novel that will be discussed in their book club. It even came with a free nail polish! I can’t wait to visit Brazos again!

I first visited this bookstore for a copy of A Citizen's Guide to Impeachment by Barbara A. Radnofsky, which is an excellent and impartial lesson in this governmental procedure. There are various author events held throughout the year. The staff are wonderfully helpful! There is adequate parking. There is a children's area called Brazos Treehouse. My second visit was as a part of their annual Where's Waldo search for local businesses. This was a delightful event for all. I had a genuinely great time visiting these local businesses!

A definite Houston staple and a must visit for any book lover.Brazos Bookstore is bright, spacious and always spotlessly clean. They have a private, kids area/room in the back, which my kids enjoy very much so they often head straight there upon entering the store. The kids’ area isn’t as filled to the brim like the big chain bookstores, so my girls don’t get overwhelmed with choices.Their displays are changed frequently so there’s always new things to look at. The stuff gives knowledge recommendations, are always patient and friendly. They host many book events in person and on zoom. They also have a great stationery selection.I just love this bookstore.

Management changed within the last year or so and it honestly no longer feels as welcoming as it once did. I used to rush back to visit brazos every time I came home and tell everyone to visit, but now it just feels like a shell if it’s former self. An example: One of the employees tried to go back and forth with me about brazos never being open past 6pm in the past when I inquired about going back to normal hours. Brazos used to be open 10-8 most days. I also overheard some negative comments about the previous managers in passing. There are fewer books on the shelves than there used to be and in general the people working there are just less friendly. Breaks my heart to have to let go of brazos when it’s where my love for indie bookstores began.

Quaint bookstore with a good variety of books. The recipe of the week by the cookbooks is a nice touch.

Small, charming, nice atmosphere, well-staffed. Limited selection. Not a place to explore for obscure authors or interesting off-the-beaten path books. Firmly on the beaten path.

What a wonderful little, local bookstore! The store itself is so clean and well organized. They have a decent selection of authors and genres (and I'm sure they could order anything you want that they don't have in stock). The women who were working there when I stopped by were so helpful and kind. It was just a great experience all around, and I will definitely be back!

Local bookshop that serves most of inner loop as far as local bookstores go. It’s pretty basic inside so doesn’t feel like a romanticized quaint book shop if that’s your thing. I thought they had good book recommendations and I’ve heard they host great events. I bought a book for my son off one of the staff pick shelves and he liked it! I’ve got high expectations coming from blue willow out west and rainy day books in Prairie Village, but still love supporting local.

Heard about this from the Texas Monthly article and it was definitely worth checking out! It was a really cute store that is deceptively large. The staff is really kind and I liked their kid's section. Definitely worth checking out.

I came here for a poetry reading and loved it. As a teacher, it makes me happy to see independent bookstores carrying such a wide selection of YA and children's books. Of course I also found plenty for myself and my US History classroom. Cool space for book talks, readings from authors, and recommendations from the staff.

The physical space is not particularly notable. But the selection of books is differentiated from what you see in a typical store. Clearly the product of people who love books. I left with titles I never would have seen anywhere else and with more free bookmarks than I ever thought possible ;)

The staff at this place are the best. They offer excellent recommendations for gifts, and are highly knowledgeable. Although their selection is limited, you can order any book (that is in distribution) through them--it only takes a couple of days to come through. I like their stationery assortment and have quite enjoyed the events I've attended here.

Lovely neighborhood bookstore with quite a variety of books. I came here for one book for my niece and left with 3. To my surprise, they even had books in french. The personnel are super friendly and we're of great help. And to top it off, they host book clubs (virtual at the moment).
