Family-run store with a wide selection of birds , many of which were hand-fed. I bought a handsome , 4-month old Quaker parrot who is relatively tame and appears to be very healthy . There is a big selection of cages, toys , treats and food and other supplies needed for birds. There are also parrots not for sale but fun to see and talk to ! Bonus is that there are kittens of different breeds for adoption inside the store and you’re invited to enter their enclosure and play with them . They were very playful and sweet . I almost left with one of them too !

This is the best place for anyone looking for pet birds or bird supplies. They have been around since 1980. Knowledgeable staff and large selection. Highly recommend.

This place was sooo cool! We came in just to look, but ended up going home with a cute cockatiel, haha! The staff is very knowledgeable about the birds and this place even takes care of some birds that are trying to get better or have lost their owners. I definitely didn't take enough pictures, but to see a place who's staff cares so deeply and genuinely knows the birds and their personalities was really cool. Will definitely be coming back to get another family member from here soon!

I absolutely loved this place. Great birds, awesome place overall. I had no idea this store existed, but now I know where I'll be going. Prices are super reasonable for the breeds. Don't think there's anything like it in Houston.

Birds should not be kept in cages.Re: “Not everyone has a forest”, these birds were taken from their natural habitat to be sold in a cage. If you love birds, you set them free in the forest. Don’t encourage the trade

I bought my bird from this store a month ago and waited before I wrote my review. The workers here were very helpful with food suggestions, toys to buy and which bird best fits your environment and capabilities. All the birds sold at the store are very happy with large cages, plenty of yummy fruit and love.My bird is a peach faced lovebird and now I cannot imagine coming home everyday without a happy chirp from her. I have recommended this store to all my friends and people intrigued in getting their own bird. Yes the weird hours makes it tricky but I believe completely worth it. When I am ready to get another bird to accompany my lovebird, I will definitely come back to this store.

I went to buy some Zebra Finches and this was my first time at the location. They had a huge assortment of bird supplies and bird food for all types of song birds. All the birds were kept in Huge enclosures which pleased me that they were able to fly around inside. They also rescue Macaws,Parrots and other exotic birds displaced from the Texas Freeze of 2021. My finches are doing well and I built them a large 15x5 aviary outside. Only thing I noticed were my finches didn't have the metal bands on thier legs at purchase.

I've shopped at Adventures in Birds for over 20 years and live this place. Full line of food, treats and toys to satisfy the pickiest of my birds. Jean and Gary are always available to answer questions or offer suggestions in answer to my inquiries.

We have a parrot that is 47 years old, He has always gone here to have his nails clipped. We drive 3 hours round-trip for them to cut his nails. We enjoy looking at all the beautiful birds while we are there.

This place is amazing! I’ve read reviews where people have complained about the owner. Well, I hate to burst your bubble but the “OWNER” was the one that helped me from the minute I walked in the door. She is incredibly knowledgeable and was a real pleasure to work with! I left with a beautiful, super sweet Goffin Cockatoo! My wife and I couldn’t be happier! I will tell you that she’s a very straight shooter. She doesn’t come across as someone that puts up with a lot of nonsense. She tells it like it is and that’s why I will definitely return for anything and everything that I might need. Everyone was SO friendly and helpful. If you’re thinking about getting a bird this is DEFINITELY the place to go!

This place is amazing!!!!!! Please support them and get all your pet needs there from toys to bedding, fresh nuts, real wood perches, rare flowers nx exotic birds, etc. All of these birds are spoiled and very well taken care of until they are bought. My daughter bought her Macaw here. Our new family pet that we are crazy about!!!!

Staff was friendly and available to help. They have a big variety of birds of all species and ages. If you're looking for a large parrot partner, this is the place to go, I've never seen so many in one room. The cockatiels there seem social, I went looking for parrotlets, but the selection was pretty small for those. The living conditions for the birds aren't the best, but I can tell they care about them.

We got our cockatiel from AIB and we are more than pleased with our new baby and the wonderful customer service from Marvelyn. Right from the beginning she gave us a lot of tips and pointers as we were a new bird owner and a little scared at first-but now we are enjoying our new pet! She is very knowledgeable, always friendly and accommodating. If I could give her 10 stars I would! If you’re looking to get a new pet look for her - you won’t be disappointed!

Great service and fun place to go! Many different species to choose from, a large selection of Diamond doves (which can be hard to find) and many different breeds of parrots. They have a lot of cats as well (I know, weird combination).Also great prices for both used and new bird cages. We recently got a large used birdcage for our four diamond doves and it was in great condition for only a few hundred dollars (The cage new would probably be thousands).

Just wish the hours were a bit more accommodating to those who work. 3 o'clock is a tough closing time for those of us who want to adopt.They were great with my fid. Trimmed his nails and beak perfectly. Even though he screamed like a big baby. Overall pretty awesome & experienced people are there. I added a picture of my cry baby (ZuZu) for dramatic effect 🤣🤣

We have always had good experiences at Adventures in Birds, and we stop by at least twice per month. The staff has always been welcoming and helpful. We go to AIB for food, for bird care (nail trimming, beak trimming) as well as for bird gender verification via a DNA test. Their selection of birds is always a treat for the eyes and ears.

Yesterday, I visited Adventures in Birds for the first time, and after reading all the other reviews, I knew I had to add my review.....While I visited this past Friday, I spent time really just looking around to see what they have in supplies since I have several birds but also to look at the birds they had as well. There was a lady at the front counter (I forgot her name, but she was not the owner) she asked if I needed help and was readily available if and when I did. In the bird room, I was able to spend as much time as I wanted looking without any pushy salesperson hovering over me. Another woman, who I believe was named Sylvia asked if I needed help and I just briefly mentioned one of the cockatoos, well Sylvia was so fantastic with helping me. She answered my questions and let me hold the baby cockatoo, and that's when she mentioned one of their cockatoos up for adoption named Hogwarts. She let me hold Hogwarts and answered all my questions. Sylvia even let me go inside with him (I think she knew Hogwarts and I had just instantly had a bond). Him and I got to hang out so I could interact with him and make sure I was the right pick from him (yes, bird will pick their person if allowed to). The male manager was great. They all were just great.I have worked in the animal retail industry for over 17 years, I know when you're getting "fake" service and genuine service and in the 3+ hours I spent in there on Friday and Saturday, everyone was giving me truly genuine customer service.I'd rather have people who are passionate about what they do, give me wonderful customer service than just have someone walk up to me with a fake smile and fake service!! Every single one of them answered any question I had, didn't make me feel rushed or pressured, allowed me to interact with Hogwarts and in absolutely no way made me feel like I was just a $$ to them.Their prices for supplies are comparable to any specialty shop or "mom&pop" shop - these places can't compare to Amazon because they aren't a mass retailer.Their prices for birds are comparable to the breeders I've seen at the most recent bird expos and to other local bird shops - you can't blame them because the prices of birds have tripled in the last couple years. The prices for birds have skyrocketed everywhere. And the fact they are also a bird rescue is a plus in my boo. They are giving back to the bird community with offering rescue services!While I personally didn't interact with the owner, I've seen several negative reviews about the owner --- just ask yourself, if she's really that bad do you think she'd have such wonderful people work for her, no, she'd have miserable people who just go to work to get a pay check that could careless about anyone who's walking into the door and during my time there that is not at all what I saw or experienced and I will most definitely continue to give them my business!**Added pics of Hogwarts who I adopted today from them, I am proud he picked me to giving him a loving and knowledgeable forever home**

Beautiful birds.bought my lovebird a week ago and is already standing on my finger. This place gets looked bad on alot for how the birds look even though alot of the birds they have are rescues and they got them that way. They also have a huge selection of birds and if they dont have the bird you are looking for you can leave them your phone # and they will call or text you when they have it.

They are rude, we were more of an annoyance than anything. Their seed mix were full of bugs! The bag I bought literally had bugs hatching in it. They handle their birds poorly. I wish we would’ve never gotten our bird from there! It has horrible behavior problems because of how he was handled! He’s terrified of hands and people! It’s been over a month and we still can get him to step up because of his fear!COULDN'T RESPOND DIRECTLY SO EDIT TO RESPONDWe stored the seed mix it at room temp, yet still had bugs hatching. There were several bugs in the other containers that your seed mix was in. We just had to purchase it to do diet conversion.We got a Green Quaker Parrot, he is the 5th bird in our flock. So we are not new 2 birds. When we bought him y'all clipped his nails twice. we told yall it was already done but was ignored and one nail was cut too short and bleed. The remedy was to burn the nail to stop the bleeding. So it's not completely shocking that the bird it terrified of hands and people, I would be too.

I bought two diamond doves here, I went in just for doves and saw a baby cockatiel I had to have too lol. Normally I don’t leave reviews but I read on here that someone said the staff wasn’t friendly or helpful, I wanted to say that my experience was quite the opposite. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me with my questions and needs. That same person said they were overpriced, birds are expensive and if you cannot afford them you have no business owning one… because that means you won’t take care of them 😂, I really like this place I will be getting all my birds from here if I get more!

I am amending my review because despite the negative phone call I actually went in to see the birds and fell in love with an African Grey called Baby, I went for a week to see him and the owners were very accommodating of my work schedule and even had him ready for me when I went to see him on my short lunch. I purchased him a week later and he is doing amazing with us!

A great place to get supplies, food, toys, for your birds. Mrs. Jean is a very educated person and has a passion for not only birds, but animals in general! She has always been very helpful when I ask questions. If I'm looking for something particular, she will help me located it. Whether your looking for a pet baby bird or a rescue bird to adopt; they have a great selection of both!
