We have used them for pet health services for the last 12+years and have been so pleased with their team. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one of our fur babies last week, and they were so caring and compassionate through the whole process. Hondo Veterinary Hospital has taken care of all my pets. Most recently my cat Domino became very sick while I was away. I got home at 4pm and immediately called to bring her in. It's a 40 to 45 min drive and I still had to get her in a carrier and loaded. They were still there when I arrived and she was cared for promptly. Great staff, great care.

My dog loves coming here and so do I. It is so easy to get an appointment. I was able to make an appointment next day to get my pup in for his first checkup. The doctor seems to love what she does and is very knowledgeable. When I was concerned about my pup and I called the front desk they answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. I needed vaccine records for doggie daycare and the front desk was able to get me his records so quick. In addition to all these great traits, this vet office is very affordable. This is the best vet I have experienced in all of my years of pet ownership!

My cat was rattle snake bitten, and I called to advise on the way for an emergency. They confirmed that antivenom was available. They got ready for my emergency to take us immediately as we walked through the door. Dr Tagle was very professional and compassionate. Thank you!

I had a dog was bitten by a rattlesnake on a Saturday afternoon so it was obviously an after hours emergency. The staff was prompt in meeting me at the clinic and was quick to examine the dog. Dr. Galewsky was very informative and his experience paid off as I am happy to report that after just 2 days the dog is back to normal aside from some swelling. In terms of pricing, I personally thought the cost was also very reasonable especially being a new patient and afterhours.

I have been going here for years. The vets do good work, but the way the office is run leaves something to be desired. When you get into the vet they do a great job, but getting there can be a challenge. I have spoken with friends and it seems I am by far not the first to feel this way. I hope they can work on customer communication. Issues with getting refills and seeking treatment just lead to stressed owners and pets.TLDR: good vet, rough office

Absolutely incredible staff and Doctors!! I have brought all of my animals to this hospital and everyone is incredible!! You could not find a group of more caring and compassionate Doctors and staff. The treatment I receive is always amazing and my pets absolutely love them too. I would give more stars if possible!!

The Vet and staff were outstanding! Our dog needed emergency care and they delivered. Our normal vet who we've taking our pets to for years wouldn't assist us. Very unprofessional, since they've made plenty of money from us. Perhaps we'll switch to the Hondo group. Thank you guys! Our dog Donny is improving thanks to your care.

We have been nothing but thrilled with the service we have received from "Dr. G" and his team. Routine cat illnesses, emergency farm calls for serious horse issues, even heartbreaking end-of-life care. They always explain things in as much detail as I want, and always put my kids at ease, too. Although vet care is pricey, Dr. G is always cost-aware, and provides options when available. We trust all of our many critters' health to them. Great for grooming. The male vet has a very nonchalant attitude re: issues of family pets. I think he must prefer taking care of large animals. I am not the only person who has felt this way about this vet.

Could not get through their phone system. After listening to all the choices and trying to select the correct option, I got to hear 2 minutes of a non-stop automated message that told me I was being connected. I never was, I was only disconnected. I prefer the days of Judge Sandusky and Glenn Riff, when you could actually get someone on the phone.

They are very thorough. It was very busy when I there but they got me in a room quickly and did the test right away. The staff is friendly and professional. It's worth the 35 mile drive!

When we had an emergency on a Saturday with our lab, Nellie, Hondo Veterinary Services got us in immediately. The care was expertly carried out and compassionate. If you love your pet, this is an excellent place to take them for care.

Brought 10 month old dog, Abbie, in to be spayed on a Friday and she was dead next wednesday morning.We were told several times that it couldn't have been due to the procedure though David had no idea what it could be. She received only painkillers initially and my wife was sent back home with antibiotic pills after a follow up Tuesday morning. By Tuesday evening Abbie was layed out with a high fever and high white blood cell count according to David...There are tests being run on tissue collected in a necropsy which; thankfully, i was assured i wouldn't be charged for. I doubt any other reason than a botched surgery and subsequent infection are to blame. The area of operation was swollen and bruised by Tuesday evening and she was completely healthy beforehand. I am not a vet though.I and my wife sincerely regret our choice in this veterinary hospital. I absolutely do not appreciate the defensive attitude David repeatedly displayed. This attitude bordered on blaming my wife and inlaws. I do not know if the same thing wouldn't happen to our Abbie at another vet, but it definitely happened here.So we're not accused of lying: Allen and Emily Stephens and our pet was Abbigail Stephens. There was nothing they could do but say sorry when we talked over the phone as David would not see me in person to explain when i picked up Abbie's body. So i wrote this review that same Wednesday evening.

This place saved my cat. Brucie kept scratching behind his ear down to the jaw, ripping out all the fur while expanding an open wound. Blood would splatter on walls when he scratched. I took him to other vets with no resolve. My cat suffered for a while - I felt helpless. Being diabetic complicated the issue. Glad to report Brucie is pretty much healed up and his fur is growing back.

My little angel pup Gia passed away the day before yesterday. I had been up at 2:30 morning that day looking for vets in San Antonio where im from. I had no luck with 24hr hospitals closed?!, to rude receptionists sending me away or telling me they didn't have openings till april!. I knew my Pup didn't have that long and was referred to Hondo Veterinary Hospital by a friend. 1st off the amazing receptionists, Cindi Kriewald, was so warm and welcoming. 2nd the Vet Assistant, Tayla Juarez, was so gentle with my Gia and made her feel very comfortable. Tayla was such a professional giving me time to gather my thoughts and very thorough on Gia's medication instructions. Lastly Dr. Becca Richardson was a straight shooter! She explained in detail my Gia's situation and even suggested I put my Pup down Peacefully, which I now regret not doing. Gia ended up passing away 3hrs later. I loved my Gia dearly and was willing to spend whatever need be to help her but Dr. Becca Richardson was upfront and honest letting me know that if I wanted she could do more blood work and other tests but it would not help. I had been in a similar situation years ago at a San Antonio vet and they took full advantage of me in a horrible emotional state. My bill at the S.A. vet clinic was insane! Hondo Veterinary Hospital has gained my trust and respect. I will not only be referring my friends and family to them I will continue visiting them with Gia's little sister Roxie and any future pets that I am blessed with. Thank you Hondo Veterinary Hospital 🙏

All the vets and staff are wonderful here! I was in today for refill on my pet’s meds. Tara was so helpful, as usual. She always recognizes me & helps with whatever I need even when the waiting area is packed. I appreciate her & everyone there for taking such fantastic care of my fur babies.

Used to have really friendly staff. Now they're kind of grumpy. In the past they helped me save my goat by answering my questions and selling me what I needed. I still think they are great. I might have caught them on a crazy day. One of the vets saw my goat. It's hard to find that.
