The owners, Haley & Mark, we're both extremely generous & helpful. During my commute from Dallas to Austin, I ran into some car trouble and had to leave my car with them until the part needed came in. Mark stayed late working that day & kept checking in on me & my pets I until my ride showed. Then, Haley offered to pick me up in Waxahachie (closest Enterprise drop-off to Gene's) & drive me back to the shop in Hillsboro to pick up my car when it was ready. The whole situation was a mess, but I am truly grateful for such kind individuals. Great customer service & service in general! 10/10 recommend.

Very fast with inspections but a couple years ago I brought my car here for repair after an accident and they parked it out in the front of their shop and it was broken into and damaged even more a week later when I went to check on it. They basically told me it was already like that and to get it off their property bc I was upset. Terrible service in that area.

Gene's service is great. He is,always looking out for you and your wallet with everything going up. Thank God for Gene's !, He is Honest and reliable. But you have to wait about two weeks bc he is really busy.

Very grateful for these guys. Alternator belt snapped on my way to Dallas and they were able to squeeze me in same day. Price was a lot less than what I was reading online. Very nice people! Wish these guys were closer because they would be my permanent mechanic hands down.Appreciate it Mark and team!!

Wonderful, wonderful people! Even though we couldn't afford to stay in town long enough to get our broken down car repaired here, Haley and her crew did everything they could to ensure we got our car onto the trailer we rented - and in the middle of the night! These people genuinely care about their customers. I fully intend to visit these guys for an oil change or something next time I drive through.

I've grown up in Hillsboro and Gene's has been a consistent and reliable place for auto services. They recently replaced my entire motor and did an excellent job. Expect a wait due to how just they are, but the quality of their work and the amount of work they do make it 100% worth it.

They did a fine job with my ticking hemi. Replaced cam and lifters and at a decent rate not like the dodge dealership that wss considerably more. No more ticking and poor performance.

My wife and two daughters were driving back from East Tx to Austin on a Friday afternoon and the car wouldn't start up after they had stopped in Hillsboro for the restroom. Despite being less than an hour until their listed closing for the weekend, the folks not only agreed to wait until we were able to get the car towed over but also said they would make sure to give my family a ride to a nearby restaurant/Starbucks to wait to be picked up if they couldn't fix the car. After determining the starter had gone out, they stayed late, picked up the part, and fixed the car - all at a price that is probably cheaper than what I'd pay in Austin. My wife was so impressed with how friendly and helpful all of the staff were and we are both very grateful. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Had a job that may have been to big for this shop. Overall I had head gasket replaced, timing set, injector replaced and manifold gaskets also recharged a/c unit replaced ac conectors and o-rings. when I picked the truck up service engine check light was still on and a/c didn't work and the truck still bogged down when tried to accelerate. I initially spoke with Mark and he insured me that his mechanics are top notch and will do a good job. I reiterated exactly what needs to be done and if he finds anything else he has my permission to fix it. Unfortunately $1300 later after returning the truck for the service engine light to be reprogrammed, fix bogging (egr valve and solenoid) and replace a/c compressor. I decided that being double or recharged for work that should have been completed initially that this shop is totally unprofessional. I think that Haley was great and customer service was excellent but overall experience of this mechanic shop results in loss of my business! This is just my personal experience. $$$$ is never an issue but trust and honesty is what keeps small businesses afloat. Next time ill trust BBB ratings and issues.

I was headed from Austin to Sherman TX today when all of a sudden my alternator failed. 'GEN' was displayed on my Dodge Ram 1500 instrument panel and the battery indicator gauge began to decrease. Despite them being busybusybusy and nearing their closing time I was quickly and pleasantly greeted at the front desk by TWO staff members - a friendly lady at the front desk and a well spoken mechanic just passing through. They assessed the problem quickly and correctly then gave me a fair quote for installation and part cost. Of course I arrived in Sherman a bit later than expected but the shop and staff had diagnosed the issue correctly, fixed it...AND_I_got_home. This shop and staff sincerely deserve these five stars! Thanks again Gene's Auto Services! Dog friendly waiting room too!

These folks are the BEST. You know, if you find a mechanic that is honest, does good work, and charges a fair price, you should keep them. I've been using Gene's Auto for my auto repair needs for a few years now and I'm always grateful that I can count on them to take care of whatever needs to be done.

Driving Austin-DFW during evening, Idler Pulley broke and shredded relatively new Serpentine Belt. Losing electric power and power steering. Pulled into Love's, diagnosed problem myself. Didn't want to tow, tried unsuccessfully to get mobile mechanic. Googled if driveable for short distances. Most strongly recommended "no" due to danger of overheating, even less than a mile. Spent night at Motel 6 next door, Googled Hillsboro auto shops, found Gene's.Called in morning, explained situation. Very nice, listened to issues and gave opinion on driving. OK as long as I stop if engine gets too hot. Drove 3.5 miles to Gene's, car didn't even get up to normal operating temperature. So, Gene's already helped me avoid a tow. They ordered parts, I saw them delivered, I was in and out of there in about an hour, Only charged me for 1/2 hour labor, vs. some shops will unethically charge by the full hour. Excellent service!

Had a small vehicle issue, I'm not from around Hillsborough so I wasn't sure who to have work on my car. Had to just guess and leave it over the weekend because everyone was closed. They got the job done on Monday in time for me to make it back to work when I expected to. Very professional and courteous staff! Thanks guys!

We were stranded in Hillsboro bc of some brutal weather. We were able to leave our car over night and a key in a lock box for the morning. The guys there were very nice and didn't over charge.

Don't try to get a vehicle inspected. Tried twice, turned away both times. Short handed one day, then they don't do inspections on Tuesday or Thursday. With partial day on Wednesday. Got inspections there the last 9 yrs, never had a hassle like this.

Got a transmission there paid almost $1,000 and within 2 months it went out and when we opened it up it had a dirty filter and dirty oil in it I wouldn't recommend this to anybody honestly the work done there could be done better at home then when I brought it in after they told me it was under warranty for 6 months they said no it was only a couple weeks and when I had ask them at checkout if my receipt was enough to prove the warranty they said yes and then Upon returning they tried to charge me for looking at what they hadn't fixed given the guy did let me get my car and leave after I got upset that they were going to charge me $40 about being incorrect on the warranty I do appreciate that he was kind of understanding but they did nothing to fix the situation that was created by them
