Great country grocery store. About 5 minutes off of the highway. They have a good selection for their size. They sell gas and diesel on site for a reasonable price. They have a nice deli and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. Parking lot is large enough for truck and trailer. I will definitely come back again when I am in the area.

I like the convenience of local grocery stores. However, the prices can not compete with some of the bigger chains. Regardless of the price, my family is a fan of the fried chicken at Brookshire Brothers in Hemptead. I stopped frying chicken nearly ten years ago for health reasons but occasionally purchase it as a treat for the family. So this day we drove to the Hempstead store from Houston. Mind you this location is 10 miles out of the way home. We drove all the way to the Hempstead store only to be told I could not purchase 24 pieces of chicken to feed the five men in my house. The cashier explained, “The manager said we sold too much chicken today and I can not sell you 24 pieces. I can only sell you a 12 piece.” Well that was unacceptable as my 13-year old can eat 8 pieces of chicken by himself.! To top it off, they were not selling the spicy fried chicken that my family loves. To solve my Sunday dinner dilema, I purchased one 12 piece and two 8 pieces (they were in the cold section of the deli). My family was happy I found a solution but was baffled by the purchase restriction.If you have a large family & desire fried chicken from Brookshire Brothers in Hempstead, have a backup plan. BTW, the sides always look suspiciously old and anything but fresh. I have never attempted to try any of them.Breakfast Side Note:Many people seem to enjoy the coffee & breakfast options. It’s been over five years since I have eaten breakfast from Brookshire Brothers in Hempstead & I remember being pleased with my purchase but I don’t recall what I ordered.

We visited the area to go camping at Jelly Stone park and came here to get some food for the cabin. I was blown away at how high the prices were here. It's a shame that they're taking advantage of the college students at the nearby university. Everything was almost double what I would pay at Kroger, HEB, or Randalls.

Everything is way over priced. Everytime I shop there I always buy at least one expired item, frequently more. A person would think that with their high prices that they would concentrate on getting a lot better better quality

Brookshire Bros in its most outdated, grungy, run-down, limited selection, slo-mo, fried food stinkin' state is still a pretty good store. The prices are fair and the people are always pleasant.

They carry coffe mate caramel creamer, low sugar ice cream that doesn't taste like doodoo and sugar free lemonade that doesn't leave a terrible aftertaste. Usually I can find some fair sale prices on fresh meat. The cuties are getting smaller and smaller for the same price. Cashiers are always friendly. Everybody seems a little perplexed about recyclable bags that I bring from home. Store brand prices compare to Walmart and I think their store brand is high quality.

I love the fried an rotisserie chicken. Everyone is so nice at the deli. I shop there alot prices fair Fruit an vegetable area well stocked meat dept nice. I've learned if you don't see it out in the meat dept.. Just get one the dept employees an they will get for you if they have it. Barbara at check out is the best an Mr.Jesse who bags is wonderful. Let me say that the staff is quite courteous and, except for one person, very helpful. (Customer service alone gets 4 star rating.) The store is obviously older but was clean and well kept. The bathroom was adequate but could have used a freshen up. (again 4 stars) But...We travel all over on business and have rarely seen prices so high as the grocery stores in this little town. We have noticed in our travels that this chain tends to operate in smaller, low income areas that truly need a discount food option and yet the prices in all their stores seem to be well above the average prices in neighbouring towns with other grocery chains. For this reason we almost always choose other chains to shop, and this experience has only re-enforced that choice.The options here are so poor we decided to move on before restocking the RV.

Most of the employees are friendly and the selection isn't terrible considering its a small store. The pharmacy u is awesome. The meat market has needed some improvement, its not as good as it used to be. Overall not a terrible place but I'd prefer shopping at HEB if there was one closer.

My Birthday party was on the 23rd, I ordered $400 worth ofparty trays. I was very disappointed. They had red sauce in the ranch dressing. They had gotten my wings wrong I ordered bone in , they gave boneless. They never offered to fix my order arebto refund some of my money. The meat pies where terrible. The deviled eggs tasted like rubber this was just horrible for me and all my guest. I would never recommend are order from them again. $400 very much waisted I had to throw some of the things away because my guest wouldn't eat it. This was the worst Birthday party ever.

I've got to say, this store has cleaned up nicely with great employees and management. Mr. Robert Base is my favorite store manager, known him since 1995, and treats everyone fairly, and cares for the customer. The produce is out of this world, the bakery/deli still serves up country favorites. I love Brookshire Brothers more than the competition here in Hempstead.I highly recommend everyone to come here to get great values, good prices, and friendly faces.

Very friendly employees and store good for cleanliness............ BUT THE PRICES.......... almost $5.00 for a gallon of generic milk. This store is outrageous in there pricing. Actually ridiculous prices. The worst thing about this is they charge these high prices because they know they can since they and small store Arlens are the only place to go without driving 20 miles. GOD PLEASE SENT HEMPSTEAD AN HEB GROCERY STORE

We stopped here to grab lunch out of the deli. The lady that runs the deli was SO kind! So sweet! Food was delicious. Don't go to a restaurant when you can grab the best food from the deli!

It can be a freindly and have good customer service most of the time. But there is some employee that are rude not friendly to their customers and do not provide good quality customer service. But beside that its a nice clean store with a wide variety of merchandise to choose from

I came in a number of times over the years.. but the last few times there was this young lady i believe her name was Mandy had the most amazing customer service i ever had there. Between her Prize winning smile and Excellent food preparation I was thrilled and look forward to seeing her again at this location on my nexts visit.. keep up the great job work and thanks for having employees like this young lady.... I had the joy of having Crieanna assist me this morning. Her beautiful, bubbly personality absolutely made my entire day! She made me smile just watching her help the person in front of me and then as I drove up to the window. Crieanna is a delight and her smile brightened up my weekend!! Thank you, Crieanna!--------------------this is an uodate to my review from 2 years ago.----------------Convenient shopping close to home. It's always clean and the staff is helpful and kind. Very pleasant for shopping and I hate shopping so that is huge for me.

It's always pleasant to shop at Brookshire Brothers. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can also usually find whatever you're looking for at Brookshire Brothers. I enjoy their collection of Gospel/Christian booklets, which are reasonably priced.

Z prices are a little high but its better than arlines an don't go after 2:30 in the afternoons the lines are long an mist times they only have 2 checkout lanes open I only go if I'm picking up 2-3 things I do my big shopping at Kroger in cypress

Brookshire Brothers in Hempstead is an awesome store always enjoy walking through and browsing lot of meat products. The young lady name Rachel that works in the courtesy booth and been there quite a few years she is awesome. I'm her father and very proud of her as well as her spouse and our grandson awesome family

Well known in Southeast Texas and Western Louisiana for serving their communities fresh produce and meats, it's a thrill to know that in an era where fast foods is the norm, home style cooked meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner is always available for takeout or dine in.Recently, I've experienced variety veggie party trays containing less than adequate veggies prepared at the 77445 store. The store manager made restitutions for the spoiled servings on (at the least) two occasions, only to be followed by another occasion with the same issue. Address the problem and become an all-star store again.

The kitchen area where they sell food is good. If you're going for meat you may want to try Houston or the surrounding area really good before making this place your number one choice.

Tiny town local grocery store... don't expect to find anything you need for anything you've seen on Martha Stewart, but if you need milk and eggs, they have 'em ... and they have THE WORST website in the world.. if you don't have the hard copy sales ad, don't waste time trying to get it from their site!

Decent sized store. Has basic groceries you'd find at most grocery stores. The employees are typical high school kids mostly.
