I adopted my dog, Archer, here last year in August. He's been my best friend and is currently on my profile picture. These people care so much about the adoption process and will go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need before you take them home. Yes, sometimes you get a sick dog when you bring them home. Archer had kennel cough for about a month. If you really care about them, you'll take care of them and not complain. I've released 2 other dogs here that I found as strays and the process was just as easy. Good job guys.

We found a dog online that we wanted to adopt. Visited him twice while in shelter. We were told her wasn't ready for adoption but could pay to be the first contacted once he was. It's been two weeks, with no updates. I must have called a thousand times, emails went unanswered and today i was informed that he is no longer available. It's literally easier to go through a breeder than this place. It's incredible how difficult they made to adopt a pet despite us offering to pay for his medical care/ make donations to the shelter/ and actually paid to reserve some sort of update on him. They are sabotaging their own animals to not be adopted and it's disgusting.

The staff (and dogs) we're amazing. They are a caring and loving group dedicated to finding these abandoned animals a good home. We ended up with a perfect match and friend for our dog Rocky. The handler even bathed Coco before we took her home!

I walked in with high hopes of finding my Siberian husky. As I walked up to the front desk to ask what was the protocol to look for my dog? She pretty much shut me up and told me to fill out green paper and told the gentleman to take me to the back. I wasn't even able to describe my dog. After not finding my dog she shoved a paper and told me to log on the website and look for lost and found dogs . I tried to ask where exactly that was located and she told me just look on the paper. Very obvious front desk staff is just there for paycheck and can care less about the animals. Very rude and unprofessional .

Very dissatisfied with the service received here. I called multiple days to confirm a dog was there and available. Never got a call back like I was told I would. Showed up in person on the 1st day of his availability, was told he was out of state adopted. Yet it says online adoptions must be made in person. I was given no option online to reserve an adoption. Very dissapointimh to say the least.

Probably one of the saddest shelter experiences I've had. There were so many dogs & not enough helpers. So much waste all over the ground, the poor dogs were laying in it, some of their waterers were flipped over & the kennels were SO SMALL! They had no access to outside. The medium-sized dogs had just enough room to turn around.

Dropped off a lost dog. They were really busy but I didn’t have a bad experience. If anything, I had fun talking with some of the other people waiting. I recommend coming in before 5 to drop off, as that is when they close their drop off. Thank y’all for the work y’all do!

is probably a nice place, but how they advertise is in my opinion not correct. I went there to drop off a cat which was a few days around our house and was crying like crazy. I drove there and find out that they do not take cats without chiped, They scan the cat, no chip, then told me to bring the cat there where I did found it. That is wasting time ,the should say that right away "we don't take unchiped animals "

My experience was really good. I interacted with and talked, a lot, to the front desk ladies. Very informative and sweet while trying to combat rude people coming in demanding to adopt animals even though they weren't a good fit, returning animals that they were told not to have around small children but they did and then the dog nipped at a small child etc. Just the ignorance of people. I also interacted with two other employees that helped me meet my new dog and with any paperwork. It was a long-ish wait, I think I was there about 2 hours total because they were busy, but I did not have a bad experience. I was waiting in a room full of many others who were approved for adoption. The shelter doesn't seem to keep animals from people who are GOOD animals owners, and animals that are ready. People don't seem to understand there may be a medical hold or kittens may be too young and have to wait. These dogs and cats are in the shelter through no fault of their own, they don't need to be put through more trauma with a bad or inexperienced owner. These employees try to mitigate risk as much as possible to the animal, and place animals with good homes while dealing with rude and entitled people. I couldn't be happier and my dog I took home is glad to have a safe home. The employees were very happy when we left together and seemed genuinely glad a dog found a home.

After my 11 y/o fur baby, Sasha passed away I decided to adopt. The staff was not very helpful and seemed disorganized. I was not made aware that the puppy I adopted, Leyvi was sick until I signed all paperwork to bring him home. He declined so fast and passed away 3 days later. Now I am left grieving 2 dogs. If a dog is going through treatment at the shelter they should...1. Inform the adoptee2. Complete the treatment before allowing the dog to go home.

Love the little pug I adopted. He is adorable. We named him Cooper. For mini cooper. Because he is very small. He has such a amazing personality. He definitely has a forever home. And never to be alone again. And the office personnel were very helpful and polite. Highly recommend you visit and adopt or foster.Thank you very much.

Has to be one of the most toxic work environments that has a trickle down effect on care and well being of animals there are a select few who truly care for animals but if you are not a favorite or having an affair with shelter supervisor you zero chance of success they literally have crack and herion addicts with multiple felony backgrounds working and this favoritism comes from top to bottom all the way from superintendent Anastasia to supervisor Randal Mize with zero accountability for any action they so choose to take they hire to city positions felons who at a moments notice will throw a full on tantrum screaming and cursing with no regard of citizens being within ear shot to a contract supervisor having a very obvious affair or at very least a very flirtatious relationship with city supervisor but use lies and excuses to terminate hard working employees to cover up obvious discrimination if changes do not come they will continue to lose good employees that cared and showed up for animals.

I have had my dog for over a year now I originally had gotten her from the Humane Society. She is an older dog and a big breed I just knew they were going to put her down. When I got her she was very sick with kennel cough and they failed to tell me that just handed her to me and I nursed her back to health. Over the year I have tried getting her comfortable with people but she always gets very aggressive with kids, strangers, and animals but I never let her trauma ruin our relationship and have worked with her. I take her to work with me because I work long hours and she’s going to stay alone for most of the day. I tie her in front of the shop with walk breaks in between next to where we work where I can see her, give her water and food but never leave her loose because she gets aggressive. Animal Control passed by and accused me of having her all day there without food and water and that she had to be put in a backyard. She is an inside dog so I didn’t want to do that, and they threatened to get her removed. Even though she is HEALTHY AND HAPPY. I decided to work with them because I was scared of them taking her and putting her down. So I put her in the backyard in which she got allergy reactions to flies and fleas from the dirt. Now her skin is irritated and has hot spots all over. SHES IN SO MUCH PAIN! ANIMAL CONTROL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS! They’re blinded individuals just trying to make a paycheck. SHE DOESNT DESERVE THIS. SHE WAS HAPPY AND HEALTHY

I adopted my dog Bruno here November 2017. I was blessed to have him for almost 6 years as he crossed that rainbow bridge to heaven June 13 of this year. He was truly a wonderful companion. Today I came back in hopes to find another beloved companion and I found my new fur baby whom I'll be naming "Kingston". He stole my heart after doing a meet and greet and I can't wait to bring him home next week!! I'm so excited!! Jo, Mina, Matt you guys were absolutely great!!! Jo and Mina are hilarious and Matt was friendly while doing my meet and greet with my fur baby. Keep up the great work 💜

One star is too many. When we walked in we picked a kitten and wee told it was too young. We went to another cage with several kittens and again were told they were too young. Another girl came in and said the first cage we looked at where the one my daughter wanted was available and a man said he wanted the same kitten. He got it. The same girl said the several wouldn’t be available for three more weeks as they were with their mother. Then she came back and took one out. I questioned her and she totally ignored me. Another girl came and took another one out. I questioned her and she ignored me as well. The first girl came and put the kitten back saying it’s weight was good but another lady and her husband who were up front got it. She didn’t say this I saw what happened. We asked several questions as to why but we’re totally ignored and not once did either stop and look us in the eye to explain what was going on. She went and got her supervisor who couldn’t explain the situation or rudeness either. Just I’m sorry. Never have I seen such rude and unprofessionalism in my 63 years of life. We will never step foot in this place again. We pray these animals are being properly taken care of and perhaps a cleaning house of employees would benefit everyone. And what is the weight for spaying and neutering. We were told 1.6 or 7 at the front desk and then 1.8 and 2 lbs in the back. Everyone had a different answer. We left and went to another shelter where we were treated with respect. Everything was explained in detail and the people were very kind and helpful. I recommend the north Fort Worth shelter if you want a decent experience where people actually know and explain situations as well as treat you with kindness and respect

I went on a very busy Saturday. Adoptions were $10 because they were full. This brought in lots of adopters and the volunteers and staff were doing wonderful jobs at helping everyone who needed help. I found a perfect dog who was fully vetted, is heartworm positive, but the staff assured me the treatment is covered by the shelter and I just have to make an appointment. I was given a folder with all kinds of information and a petsmart coupon. I picked out a collar and a leash for my new dog and was on my way. One of the best adopting experiences I've had.

Took my Dad to find a new companion, which he did. However when we went to the front desk the very lady said we had to wait til the dog was sent to the Petco on Hulen if we wanted to adopt him in two weeks. I mean we were there. The staff in the back said he was ready to be adopted. My dad was so disappointed. We ended up adopting from the NRH animal shelter.

If people are willing to go out of their way to bring in strays, they shouldn't have to wait outside in line for hours to drop them off. They should have an expedited line so people aren't discouraged about the effort to bring in a dog.

Went there on a Thursday to adopt a pup. Picked it out, went to the front with the lady showing me the dog's, only to be told by the guy I couldn't have it. Why? He said it was supposed to go to an adoption event the next wkend. I said I want to adopt it and to give a 2nd dog that opportunity at said event. Nope he said no and to go to the event if I wanted it. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I just hope it actually got adopted instead of being back at square one. 😢

I can't say enough bad things about this location. We went first to the Humane Society with a stray that wondered into our yard. This happened at 4 pm and I had to finish a meeting so we got to the Humane Society at 4.50. They redirected us to this location, and we arrived at 5.04. They ignored us when we arrived and knocked on the door. Someone eventually came out and refused to help us with the stray, saying they can't accept any animals after 5 pm. We were told to call animal control and wait for someone else to deal with it. We had to wait until 8pm and the dog had to sit outside in 100+ degree heat because the person at this facility couldn't bother with the paperwork and we have 2 dogs at home that don't share their space well. Absolute worst animal care I've ever seen. If you're not going to put animal care first, get people in there that care or close down.

Staff was very busy and seem quite irritable so if you care about customer service and take that kind of thing personal then just go somewhere else, I usually don't care about that stuff so I didn't mind. The only reason I'm leaving such a poor review is because I was never informed that the cat I was adopting was pregnant until months later whenever I was trying to take her to get fixed with the voucher they handed to me which completely covers the cost of spaying; I had been informed she was roughly quite far into her pregnancy with six kittens, which left me in an extremely tight spot. I decided to let my cat have her kittens and handled the weight of giving them all away/making sure they were healthy (and she stopped lactating) so I could be able to take her to finally get spayed but by then, the voucher had already expired. I have been calling and emailing to no avail for a new voucher or some form of extension. They seem to be completely unreachable via phone and email so I will be needing to set a day aside in order to bring this problem to their attention in person and hope they set some time aside to help me with a solution. I understand how busy they can be and how many animals they need to keep up with, I just wish their methods of communication were a lot better because this entire situation could have been completely avoided.

Listen. It's a shelter. An overcrowded, overwhelmed shelter. They do their best with intake. Some animals will present with illness and others could be infected but not showing signs yet. This is true of any shelter. Kennel cough will generally clear up. It's very difficult to keep animals apart when the building is bursting at the seams with drop offs and surrenders. They are doing their best. Volunteer or foster if you can. It will help the shelter become more efficient. Blame the people that don't alter their animals or keep them for their lifetime. But please go if you're interested in a pet. The animals are not to blame. Visit with the animal. Visit more than once. Animals in the shelter act differently outside of it. Do your own assessments. Most animals are brought in with no background information. The shelter has limited people to really observe the animals. I foster. Every animal is different. You need to see them for yourself. I've also never been attacked by a foster with anything but kisses. You know what type of animal you can handle.

Lost my dog of 15 years. A month later still looking I saw online someone found her and took her here far from where I live. I drove there and they told me she was rescued. I asked if I could have the information to the rescuer. They said no. That she wasn't my dog anymore. I saw her picture in the system. I think they killed her. I'm so sorry Molly I didn't come soonerI love you.

We foster a dog from there, she was sick of her skin, extremely skinny, she wasn't spayed, traumatized, when she was 4 o 5 weeks at home she has 6 puppies, nobody ever told me she was pregnant. After that I found a person to adopt her and take cate of the puppues until they were ready for adoption. I will take another foster from there because these poor dogs are living hell

A couple of the staff were super rude. Called before going up there and told them I found a stray dog. the lady replied over the phone “what do you mean by stray”…… What else could I mean? They told me the wait would be 30 minutes when I got there but i waited well over 30 minutes.. I had something else to do so I told them I had to leave and come back to drop off the dog… when I got back, a heavy set Hispanic lady (who clearly didn’t want to be there) just pulled the poor dog thru the door by the leash around her neck.I feel so bad for those dogs because if they treat people poorly, I wonder how they treat the animals.

If I could give zero stars for this shelter I would. They shouldn’t even be open. They have sick and healthy dogs mixed together. Dogs are coughing, sneezing, eyes swollen and red, urinating, pooping, and noses are oozing with green snot. Of course the dogs lick it when it drips. Then they are eating the infection. Dogs have severe diarrhea. So first off, I adopted a puppy 6 days ago. Later that evening, my 2 month old puppy started oozing the same green snot I seen dozens of other dogs with. Let’s be clear that these dogs were not separated and I said something to three of the people who were back there with them and I can name names because they tried to shoot at me(hook up with me). He had bites all over him which have scabbed over. When I picked him up, his nose was runny but clear. However, the puppy was cover with urine and fecal matter. Upon requesting that they wipe him off because the lady handed him to me dripping with urine, a younger African American lady yelled from across the room that he can’t have a bath for two weeks and that there are paper towels in the bathroom if I want to clean him. I had been there three times and this is my 4th time here. Each time the young lady in the front was extremely disrespectful and my daughters said something about her first. I have a disability as well if I may add. This puppy was supposed to be my service dog. The girl argued back and forth saying she walks in poop and piss all day and that I should just take him that way. So the lady who handed him to me took him very quickly and wiped him in the lady’s restroom. However he smelled like foul ammonia and poop. I mean you could just rub the top of his head with one stroke and you would literally have to wash your hands right then and there.Back to the oozing if the nose the night I took him home. I thought maybe it was allergies. I tried getting in contact with the shelter but when you call it, it’s a Fort Worth automated line with irrelevant extensions on it. At this time I had just lost a family member. So I’m out handling things for the funeral with my snotty puppy. The snot lessened over the course of a few days but today when my baby woke up, he was wheezing like he was about to die. I have scheduled a time for him to see a vet but i couldn’t get him in for an immediate appointment. So I drove over 4 hours away to bring him back to the shelter I got him from. This supervisor took me and my daughters to his office where nobody could hear us talking. He insulted my intelligence as if I couldn’t tell if he was sick. He asked me how do I know he was sick just because he had green snot coming from his nose. I also said something about his weight and I was told they give them only diet food. I even seen some dogs with vomit just laying in the cage. I asked how to go above to a manager and was not provided information on how to reach a manager or corporate and he stated I couldn’t go above him because they are the city and they answer to nobody. I asked him to write down the information to the city and mayor information and he yelled very loud at me while my two daughters 13 & 11 were sitting there. So I started yelling back at him because at that point it’s abuse and I teach my daughters not to allow men to abuse us. So now we have another problem besides this shelter giving my babies and I a sick puppy who is now having trouble breathing. I had just seen him respectfully answer the lady who called him up there for me. Soon as he brings my daughters and I to his office, he blatantly humiliated me in front of my daughters as I allow men to treat me that way and I don’t. I feel the way he treated that lady compared to how he treated me is racist and I won’t stand for it. The head huncho lady I was requesting is a sweetheart and I wanted to speak to her which is what I initially requested. She definitely shows compassion and respect. However, it does not negate the fact that her employees gave me a sick puppy who she did not see before he left the facility. I will be reporting this to the city!!!!!!!!
