The main lobby, exterior and front porches are very charming but unfortunately the rooms didn’t quite hit the mark. The “turn of the century” feeling they are going for, at least with regards to the room we stayed in in the Orchard House part of the hotel, were outdated and strangely furnished. There was a lot of room, which was great, but the rooms just had a weird vibe. Also some frustrations like that the water could only get warm and not hot.

We spent one night @ the Hotel Limpia in Fort Davis, TX, in our swath of West Texas. It was delightfully quaint and quiet.Everything was so clean and my wife commented on the adequate lighting in the bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would both highly recommend this hotel & Fort Davis.Walkability: Shopping, dining & drinks are all within walking distance. Most just across the street!Food & drinks: We had supper @ Blue Mountain Bar & Grill which was delicious & great casual atmosphere! We were welcomed into the crowd that was already there just like we belonged. The food was perfect temperature.Breakfast @ the Double Shot Coffee Shop was the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had in my life!

Old-style hotel where you get authentic old-style comfort. If you do not expect much and a romantic look is all that matters, then go for it. This is unfortunately not our case. The equipment is noticeably dated, rooms smell a bit stale, and our bed sheets were slightly dirty. These things could somewhat be tolerated but there was yet a bigger issue. We came on Superbowl Sunday which was a pretty cold day. Upon arrival the thermometer was showing 52F inside. The in-house heating could not cope. After calling the reception we had to wait quite a while because the maintenance guy obviously had to first finish watching the Superbowl before attending to us. Btw the hotel cable TV was overloaded, and we had to watch the game in Spanish on some Mexican channel. Not exactly how I imagined watching game of the year but anyway. We were given additional heaters and told it will soon get warm. After fully blasting those heaters all night the result was 72F inside by morning. We complained about this, demanding a refund only to be told that the problem was dealt with. Well, I guess we all have a different perception of comfort. As for me personally, I would expect more after paying $230+ a night. That is just my own opinion. Nevertheless, life goes on.

This hotel is over 100 years old so if you've never stayed in a historic hotel know that the mismatched and "outdated" furniture is part of the charm and character. We had the Junior Suite and it was spacious and comfortable and had everything you'd need (hair dryer, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, shampoo and conditioner). Check-in was smooth and welcoming and we got all the information we needed to be comfortable in a new town. This was a great little oasis after a few days of exploring West Texas.

Stayed at Hotel Limpia, specially casa limpia rooms across the street so we could wake up and see fort Davis and McDonald observatory. This was the perfect spot!!!And it felt like being in old west town but with modern luxuries.Everything was so beautiful and felt like being at home. Even the daughter of one of the employees made welcome signs. They were even so helpful to allow us a late check in and print my daughters 4th grade national park pass from her teacher so we could get her official badge! My husband adamantly declared, “we are coming back here just to experience the town and this hotel”Thank you Hotel Limpia family!

The old "bait and switch" game. When I booked the room a week in advance (at the full, ridiculous price), I was assured a 1st floor in the main, original building. When I arrived, they pushed me to a 3rd classed room on the 2nd floor of a poorly kept building. They offered me a room in the main building on the first floor at 50% higher cost.Don't stay here. Book a room in Alpine and drive the 30 minutes. You will be happy you didn't get ripped off!

We arrived after hours and had no problem getting into our room. Shelly had everything we needed in an envelope waiting for us.Our room was comfortable and clean. This hotel is a piece of history that you must see.We were told that the owners of this lovely place are going to remodel it. If I may, remodel isn’t what should be done. It should be restored. The carpet on the second floor and from all of the rooms should be removed and expose all of the hardwood floors that I know is probably under it. I would paint the walls and ceilings as well as adding more antiques and period light fixtures. This place is a gem from history and would benefit from just a few fixes. We will be back!! Thank you Shelly for being so kind and sweet.

A great hotel in Fort Davis. For a town that has only 1 main restaurant, 1 deli, and 1 grocery store, the place is a standout. It’s older but they’ve kept it up to date. There’s lots of relaxing spaces, including tons of rocking chairs. For colder nights they have seating areas indoors as well. The service is top notch and the front desk folks are always very sweet. Definitely worth staying here if you’re in the area.Rooms: Old but not dated. The rooms are spacious and the bed is comfy. The bathrooms are a little small but they are functional.Walkability: The town only has one major street, but it has a wide sidewalk on each side. You can walk all the way up to Porters without any trouble.Food & drinks: They have a coffee shop / breakfast spot in the morning. There’s a bar/restaurant with a patio in the evening. They give 10% at the restaurant if you show your key. Both meals are great and a nice value.

When I booked this hotel,I had no idea we would find this place as wonderful as it was. Located in downtown Ft Davis, the Limpia has saved the past yet made the hotel comfortable amd welcoming. The ambience was genuine southern hospitality from the staff to the book-lined library and the rocking chairs. We stayed in a suite in the Orchard with its high ceilings and canopy king bed. We enjoyed a leather sofa in the sitting room and again the rocking chairs in the porch. High quality linens gave us a great night’s sleep. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel in historical town! The rooms are cozy and spotless with great period furniture and decor. Each room offers a different experience, and they really thought about every single detail when creating their room environments. They are also pet friendly, and the treats are nicely wrapped and labeled for your fury companion to enjoy.

This is a great hotel in an out of the way county seat. It was relaxing and beautiful hotel. It screamed of history and charm from an earlier and simpler time. The room was comfortable and very pleasant. If you are looking to get out of the rush of modern life, choose this place. I hope to return when I need to recharge and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Have stayed at Hotel Limpia several times and love this hotel! It’s close to Davis Mountains state park, the McDonald Observatory and several other outdoor activities. I love the charm of the lobby. Restaurant, bar and coffee shop are excellent and make the stay convenient. Rooms are comfortable and have an old school charm. EV chargers are reliable for those with EVs.

we went a long time ago and stayed in one of the cottages outside the main hotel. It was before the updates but I keep posting a review and it keeps deleting and I have no idea why. When we went they really didn't have a room available but they knew we were desperate so they got us in one of the cottages. Service was good, pricing was good but it is absolutely haunted. My children and husband went and all went to bed. I had a weird feeling entering the place and people claim Im sensitive but I don't believe in all that normally. Anyway, at about 2am I was woken up from a dead sleep to what sounded like someone beating the fool out of the wall. I got up got armed and went looking. NO one else got up. I searched and it was dead silent inside and out and I went back to sleep. My husband apparently had a similar thing happen about 330am and again nothing. NO explanation, nothing. Super creepy. When my son woke up he was 17 at the time he said he woke up to water running and banging on the wall at about midnight. My youngest son who was 8 had no experiences at the time. It was creepy and there is a total uneasiness for me, no one else felt it.

The photographs on the booking website did not at all reflect the poor quality of the rooms available to the outside booking agency. The room was not in the old hotel, but across the street in what looked like an old boarding house. The furnishings appeared to be thrift store grabs with no sense of the history of Fort Davis or the local buildings. Incredibly disappointing.
