I love this place but it’s frustrating that they only put 1 sometimes 2 cashiers and is you go to their self checkout a rude big lady told us to leave and i said where when theres only 2 cashiers? She kept saying go. Rude!

I had a horrible experience with a lady cashier. I did get her name and have her Cashier # from the receipt. I brought my reusable bags to avoid so much plastic. She rang up my items and handed me my receipt and left my items on the counter without bagging them. I asked her if I had to bag my items. She responded “yes “. I asked her if this was something new and when did this start. She stated she didn’t know how I wanted them. She started bagging them very rudely and practically threw my eggs in the bag. I told her that was rude. She never once apologized for not bagging my items and never asked me how I wanted my items bagged. I wasn’t being picky on how they are bagged. I would think you just bag as you normally do. I looked at her name tag and she offered her name. I told her I was going to remember it. Employees need to be taught good customer service if they don’t have the common sense to treat customers with respect. I have never had this problem anywhere else. I’ve been coming to this store for years.

The prices look low, but these snakes charge you a "10% Service Fee" for the total of your purchase. So you're not really getting low prices. Decent place to shop in a pinch but that 10% trickery is deceptive.

I  am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the current policy regarding self-checkout registers at your store. I believe it is essential that all self-checkout registers be made optional for all customers, regardless of the number of items they are purchasing.It has come to my attention that customers like myself who purchase more than 15 items are required to use the regular checkout registers. This has often resulted in frustrating and time-consuming experiences, as the lines at the regular registers can extend to more than five customers deep. It's particularly disheartening when I observe that there are approximately eight empty self-checkout registers available.The situation seems rather unfair to those who are purchasing larger quantities of items. In a time where convenience and efficiency are highly valued, the requirement to use the regular checkout registers can be frustrating for many customers. It's frustrating to be waiting in line when a more efficient option is available.I kindly request that you consider making all self-checkout registers available to all customers, regardless of their purchase size. This would greatly enhance the shopping experience for many of us and reduce the wait times at the regular registers.I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope to see a positive change in the store's policy soon. Thank you for your time and understanding."

Food king is the best period. Their incredible prices are rivaled by no one here locally. Today I got two packages of chicken that totaled close to 10 lbs for an astonishing 11 dollars. I would have paid 25 dollars for the same two packages at Walmart.Of course, you cannot forget about their excellent customer service. I have always had a great experience at Food King. Customer service reps ALWAYS willing to go above-and-beyond, and with a genuine smile on their face. I especially want to give a shout-out to a Ms. Minerva, who really helped me out today.Thank you for providing such a great experience and service to our borderland.

I really like to come to this store. The vegetables are in good condition and the staff is very friendly. It gets pretty busy around noon but I definitely recommend going early morning (like 7am) or late afternoon (7pm-9pm ish). I recommend doing a grocery list before going to the store to organized your trip to the store and to make it out more efficiently and quick!

The manager and the employees are rude. I left a bag with my groceries. I went back they told me they had to check the camera. I had the receipt so why check. I didn't like their attitude. They made me buy some of the items again. Poor customer service what do I expect from damn wannabes. They gave me such a hard time. I'm going to another store . They suck. They will yell at you where is the customer service at? They need to respect their customers

Terrible Customer service.They would not sell me a money order for less than $30.The meat was advertised on sale for $3.89 lb, the package was overpriced at $5.11 per lb. I asked the meat dpt to verify the error, I was told that they were short staffed and to "pay the higher price because he was not going to do anything about it" I spoke to a young woman "Mgr" about both issues she treated me with a take it or leave it attitude - very condescending. Food King does not care about customers anymore. I will be shopping elsewhere where customers are valued & welcome, and grocery quality is better.Customer Response:Please explain how you can remove the embarrassment and condescension that I experienced from a simple trip to the store.I was not able to procure the items I was going to buy, and was instead made very uncomfortable by your employees.The cashier and a young woman "manager" where you sell money orders told me that "Corporate" prohibited stores from selling money orders to customers unless the MO was for$30 or more. I wanted a money order for less than $30. The employee at the meat market was not willing to help a customer - me. The young woman manager and meat market personal, in my opinion, are a reflection of your Corporate culture - which does not value and welcome customers.

I have been coming to this location for over 6 months and never had an issue until today. I ride my bicycle everywhere since I don’t have a car so I bring a backpack to carry my groceries. As I was a walking in I was told by the manager to leave my backpack up front which had never happened before. I have established trust with all the other employees but the first time the manager was ever on the floor. The employees at this location are all wonderful this review is for management. there is a different food king that doesn’t give me a problem about my backpack, I will start riding to that location moving forward even though it’s an extra 4 miles away.

Lots of unique choices due to the large number of Hispanic customers. I think I was the only non Hispanic there and the store was packed. I am quite OK with this. The store employees were very helpful and congenial. My only negative comment is the checkout lines were long and slow.

Great prices. A bit disorganized. Cash register lines were alarmingly slow, and twice cashier's closed their line just as I approached my turn. Why give them a light if they don't turn it off when serving the last customer? Two cashiers had no mask and one was coughing regularly. Customers are supposed to adhere to mask usage but not employees?

I don't recommend food king, quality is bad, I always see flys all over the fruits and vegetables and the prices aren't even that good, only for some items it is but other than that Walmart is way better and nicer

This place always brings back memories of my childhood. May not be Big 8 any more but they sure are doing a good job of keeping that feeling of a family friendly grocery store alive. Prices are decent and they always seem to have deals. The atmosphere in general is what makes it great. 👌

Its a good store overall I like how they clean the bathrooms frequently. The cashiers are fast most of the time considering the volume of clientele they receive. However the managers are not great at solving customer issues especially when the coupons placed in the items are not "valid" or "nonexistent". Some of the cashiers are not welcoming either pretty rude at times, especially when they expect you to bag everything yourself and are 9months pregnant! The meat and produce staff is pretty nice they help you out in any way they can.

I've been coming to this place since it was big 8, and I think even something else before that but I forgot what it was called. One thing that I always notice is that no matter how much time passes, no matter how many companies buy out the building, the layout, the staff, the inventory, is always the same. But the prices are what goes up. Walmart is down the street. A 3 min drive. And a simple loaf of generic bread will cost me here 50% more than it would at Walmart. Now, I prefer to support small mom and pop shops like this but when you clearly are price gouging your customer and then try to pass off your lack in renovations and improvements to your stores, its a slap in the face to the customer. Now don't get me wrong. A lot of their items are fairly priced. But its the lack of innovation that keeps this place so... 1980s. Maybe they want it this way? It is el paso after all. But hey, maybe some self checks outs would alleviate the 20 minute long lines at check out? Maybe training the staff in customer service could make the customer a return customer? Maybe a fresh coat of paint would bring some pride in your store? Removing the moldy carpet could be a good start. Until now, I need something more modern that can cater to the world's 21 century needs. ✌

Can't beat the prices of fresh produce here! We stopped buying produce from Walmart because of how hard it is to find truly fresh fruits & veggies at most Walmart stores. Food King has fresh quality produce like you find at Albertson's but at a fraction of the cost.
