This facility is extremely clean with no odors when you walk in, you know like a wet dog. Everyone who was working/volunteering the day we went were so very helpful. One was answering questions while another was gathering sheets of names and numbers of contacts for our needs! They were all playing with the puppies, which only showed their love and care for the unwanted babies. If you ever want to foster or adopt give them a call! Don't forget that you can always help them out with any donations, including your time, which will make your heart and soul feel good!

I had a very good experience here. I brought my dog, Maverick, here just a few days ago after he injured himself. They got us in the same day, and were very sweet upon entrance. They were kind and gentle with my dog as well. The veterinarian is very nice, and they went over pricing with me in the room. I’m very satisfied with this clinic. :)

They are overcrowded so it makes it hard for them to let out the fur babies like they need to. You can tell they are well loved. Added picture of her first day at the beach.

We had a sitter staying at the house while we were on vacation and our 2 puppies managed to get away from her. They always come back when theyve gotten out in the past. These guys picked up our dogs and my parents had to go get them from the shelter. Within 30min of getting the dogs back to the shelter they decided to deworm them and gave them a full round of shots. This caused the pups to become severely ill because they had just received the same round of shots several days prior!! They vomited and had diarrhea for days! Now it's been 2 months later and my parents just received a notice that we have to pay $900+ dollars because our dogs were not vaccinated!! WHAT! I requested the vet send over the records to them!! I thought this place was great and doing something to help out the community. Turns out they are just charging the public for whatever they want without regulation. I am so unbelievably disappointed in this "public service".

This place does such an amazing job with taking care of their pets. It is a lot of work that is done daily.. When I volunteered, I was impressed with how well these animals were taken care of. I wish dogs didn’t even need to go to a shelter, and that every dog found a forever family to love and take care of them. Unfortunately, that is not the case. When taking in a new pet, it is always an adjustment for the pet and the owner. However, this is a great place to find an animal that is well taken care of and loving.

We adopted our lovely girl here and are so thankful for Bayou Animal Services, its staff, and its volunteers! While the shelter does not operate like others with a walkthrough to view each and every animal that is up for adoption, they have a binder at the front desk that shows all of the cats and dogs (shelter name and photo) that are currently available for adoption (also available online on their website). They are also more than willing to bring out any given animal at your request for you to meet.As for the adoption process itself, we were very happy with how much Bayou Animal Services was willing to help us out with in regards to bringing home a pet with everything that was necessary to start out with. We did not expect to go home with our girl when we came out to meet her for the first time, so because of that, we had zero supplies at the ready. Bayou Animal Services gave us a traveling crate large enough to accommodate her, a bag of goodies for our adoptee, a 10-15lb bag of dog food, a collar, a leash, and even a blanket. We later returned all of these items after we were able to gather everything that we needed on our own. However, we can see how this can be extremely helpful for others who are seeking a pet but under different circumstances than our own. They also offer and strongly recommended their week-long take-home "trial" period. We agreed to that but ended up coming back just two days in to finalize the adoption because we knew we wanted to keep her. The forms and payment were completed on a mobile device at the front desk which was actually pretty convenient. Our adoption fees included spaying (in which they partner with Houston Spay Neuter and handle the scheduling as well as the transportation for, there and back) and additional medications (we did need and came back for deworming meds). I would like to give huge thanks to the gentleman who usually runs the front desk, Nadine, Colleen, the volunteers, and Nina for all assisting us throughout this process. Our pup has come a long way from her timid self when we first met her at the shelter in late Summer. Since then, I have been following Bayou Animal Services on Facebook and have never ceased to be impressed by how many animals they find and save on a day-to-day basis. The shelter really does its best to take in as many animals in need as possible. Thank you for helping all of these animals find new and loving homes!

Wonderful folks! They really care about the animals and go out of their way to track down the lost owners and to find new forever homes for the ones they can’t. I wish I had a big farm so I could take them all! Awesome work guys, know that you are greatly appreciated!

It was nice in the beginning, we found a dog we liked and went to adopt him we were denied as there adoption age is 21 and we were 18 in which we were not aware of, and then due to a conversation in store our sister was denied to even apply for the adoption of the dog. A conversation of having 7 cats in which 6 are strays that we do not even own they just happen to shelter under our home. After that they would not even allow us to see the dog we were trying to adopt. They got fairly rude about things as well. Not all of the workers.

It breaks my heart to have to do this and I’ve never written a review in my life. We adopted 2 baby kittens about 2 weeks ago, and were told they had an upper respiratory infection by the staff. They said they tested for other things, and that they should be fine. $2000 later in vet visits/hospital we found out they both had FVR ear mites AND Feline panleukopenia virus. We lost our cat of 18 years and were finally ready to adopt, and our babies were only with us for 2 weeks. I hate that other cats might not be adopted but i don’t want anyone else to have to go through what we just went through. FVR and Feline panleukopenia virus are highly contagious, and they were in constant pain, one passed on their own, and another was put down in the emergency room. The hospital said the shelter should have known about the Feline panleukopenia virus. Please be careful, we’re now broken hearted over their passing, and broke from the expensive treatments.

We've called multiple times whether it be for a loose, aggressive dog, a bat that we found on the ground not doing well, all the way out to adopting from this shelter. They were extremely understanding and delicate when we lost two of our pups due to a rotten plank we didnt catch in time. Unfortunately, our pups didnt make it, but this shelter helped us look, and reported to us when they found our late doggos. Every interaction we've had with these people has been amazing! They truly care and want the best for all of the animals that pass through here. We love our Freyja Bell Larsen and can't imagine our home without her now.

Today we adopted a kitty from This facility. We have searched many facilities over the past few weeks. Let me tell you this shelter gets 100 stars for cleanliness and compassion. Walked into the cat area and it didn’t make you want to puke. It was organized and the workers as well as the volunteers offered lots of help and information for us to pick our fur baby. First facility to go in and the animals are healthy and taken care of. Very easy process and just an all around great experience!

The service was good, but it cost almost 100, to do rabies and other shots for a cat. It used to be a lot less 2 years ago. I know things have gotten expensive but that was high i think.

By far the BEST shelter! From the facility to the staff our adoption experience was awesome!!! They really care about their animals and make sure you are the best fit through the adoption process. They made sure our pet was already spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and given a microchip. I would definitely adopt from them again in the future.
