We were staying in Matador and since there’s no place to eat, we drove down to Dickens and happily discovered TCs Ponderosa! The sliced brisket, peppered turkey and ranch beans were very good!They should probably play a little music, it was uncomfortably quiet inside.Other than that, great place to grab some excellent barbecue!

I stopped by today to make a purchase. I had my service dog with me.. his tags are around his neck. The manager told me I cannot have a dog in there.. I tried to explain that he is a service dog. However, it isn’t my job to protect my legal rights made into Federal Law. I am sick of being discriminated against because of my disability.. This has to stop..I am adding to this review.. the owner called me and apologized and assured me that all employees will be trained on what a service animal is and where they are allowed.. she is an awesome owner!! Very thankful for her call to me!! I give 100% approval:)

Chopped beef BBQ and creamy coleslaw was great! Charming c-store too and the people were really friendly. They even gave us a yummy dessert on the house. Excellent road trip stop - we'll be stopping again on future trips!

A great place to eat great bbq. It's our usual stopping spot coming home from hunting but it would work for anyone who craves small town fine dining. Truly is good bbq and good service. Do yourself a good deed and buy large sandwich and a pound to take home.

I eat there all the time! All the time. My favorite is the jalepeno cheddar sausage I also love their moist brisket. I enjoy the potato salad and pineapple pudding. It is always the best food! Staff is fabulous! However recently and I know it is a propane smoker but recently the last two times only I have been there it has smelled badly of cigarett smoke! I think someone is smoking there frequently when other staff isn't around. I'm sure of it. I couldn't eat in there and had to leave to go eat in my hot car. And still had a headache all day.🙁☹This place has fed me for years. I'm very appreciative of the community service that we have at TC's. Maybe they had some sort of an issue with the smoker, though I think it was a cigarett. I suggest an ozone machine and severalapplications.Parking: Always good!

A hidden gem! I stopped here on my way home to Austin and was really impressed. My wife had the pulled pork and I had the brisket. Both were really good! A quintessential Texas roadside BBQ experience that is definitely worth the stop.

This place is worth the stop when padding through. They had a variety of options to choose from and the staff was friendly and helpful. They even helped reccomend available dishes for my picky toddler. Because of its location it's not like you have a long line to stand in but if you dine in you will see that they have a good amount of ppl coming through. They are quick to serve you . Cheddar Sausage was good and so was the brisket. We preferred having it sliced instead of chopped as you could savor the flavors of the brisket. Their dessert was great as well!Parking: When driving through look out for it because we drove pass it and had to turn backKid-friendliness: It's nice and open and staff is friendly

Great Bar-B-Que. The brisket and ribs are the best we have had. Service is wonderful and location was very clean and very well stocked. We love stopping here every time we are near Dickens. Everything is homemade and very flavorful. Been coming here for the past 12 years. Very dependable food and service.

Brisket sliced sandwich with fat on , was passing threw too go fishing at lake Kickapoo had to turn around go buy another one best little hidden secret in Texas when I want brisket I always reflect of this little place good serving of brisket ,friendly service very clean homemade cobblers ,cakes , a must stop if your passing threw Dickens , won't be disappointed 😋

We'll have to go back and try this one again. With social distancing there was not enough seating inside for my family, so we had to eat at one of the tables outside and were plagued by flies.The BBQ was good, but everything except the ribs was a little bland. The potato salad was also really good.With all the great reviews this place has I have to think we just had a one off experience, and there were a bunch of people picking up orders the whole time we were there, so it's a popular place.

BBQ eatery that sells lunch plates and by the pound. Homemade sides and desserts. Good prices and large portions. Also sells custom meat cuts, salsa and other homemade treats. Small convenience store with beer cooler. Seating is limited and not private. So if you are headed west definitely stop in and create your own BBQ picnic basket and take it to beautiful Silver Falls rest stop just 30 minutes ahead. Good stuff.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stop here. Everybody thought that the food was delicious, and the service was friendly.We had chopped brisket sandwiches, beans, and coleslaw. It was ready in a jiffy and piping hot (except for the slaw).One of the best barbecue joints I’ve ever eaten at!

Stopped here to rest and grab a bite on a road trip. The brisket is good, but I was blown away by the baked potato casserole. It was exactly what I needed on a chilly day to perk me up for the last stretch of travel. Inside of the place was clean, staff were friendly, and there's a huge parking lot that can accommodate semi trucks and rvs.
