Shiloh, her husband and their staff are knowledgeable, patient and highly capable professionals and it’s clear they care deeply for the animals they service - desiring a high quality of life for both dogs and owners. My dog Chase spent 4 weeks with Lone Star State K9. My biggest worry was that he would be well taken care of and that he would be better behaved when I picked him up. Well, all expectations were exceeded!! I enjoyed getting regular updates on his progress, what skills they were working on, and outings they had. It is important to know that no training will work without your commitment to keep up with the training and commands. I knew that from the get go, but Shiloh made sure I knew what to expect when I returned home. It has been a little over a month since Chase has been home. He is a better dog, less reactive towards other dogs, and less friendly towards strangers. (This is important because those were the 2 main things I asked the trainers to work on).I couldn’t speak highly enough about our experience with Lone Star State K9.Thank you for being available to answer any of our questions/concerns even a month later!

We took our 1 year old Cattle Dog Juli to Lone Star State K9 with the exception that she would learn the basic commands in her 6 week training. We enjoy camping and want to take her with us but she barked at everyone one and everything. We also wanted them to work with her on social interactions in public places.LSSK9 exceeded our expectations from the first week! We received video and picture updates twice a week on her progress. She learned fast and bonded extremely well with the training team. When we got her back she was a whole new pup (but still our corky fun Juli girl). We took her camping the first weekend we got her back and it was an amazing difference! She was calm and unbothered by all the people and activities happening around her.As she settles in at home she loves to please by shows us all she knows and learned.We will forever be grateful to the training team at LSSK9 for teaching Juli how to be a good girl!

During quarantine we adopted an extremely nervous shepherd mix from ACS and have spent the last four years bouncing through trainers who would eventually say she was a bit too much for them to handle.Our first visit to LSSK9, I almost cried because it was the first time someone had worked with our dog without being afraid of her or thinking she's too much.She's currently in a board and train program and the videos I've seen of her progress are mind blowing. They had her off-muzzle within an hour of her arrival. She's gone from totally shutting down and lashing out around new people to walking in a heel, wagging her tail with all of their talented trainers.Where others couldn't even get her to accept treats during training, she now happily responds to commands and takes treats.More recently she was even walking on-leash near other people and dogs without any lunging, growling, or barking.It's amazing to see her feel so happy and confident around new people. I can't recommend Lone Star State K9 enough. You can tell they love their animals and what they do. There's nobody better!

Our experience with Dakota and Shiloh of Lone Star State K9 has been excellent! We are very impressed with Dakota’s a long list of credentials and experience training, dogs for the military.We first took our Malinois pup, Diablo, to Dakota and Shiloh when he was just a few months old. We were immediately impressed with their facility which includes a large barn for indoor training and lots of acreage for outdoor training. Everything is spotlessly clean.Dakota, Shiloh, and their staff worked with him on leash training and basic good behaviors, which this rambunctious puppy seriously needed! He returned again to them at eight months old for training in personal protection. As you can see from the photos, we can now take him in public and we can count on him for personal protection in public or at home on the ranch.We also board Diablo with them when we go out of town. They always treat him with lots of love and compassion. Whether he’s boarding or training, he gets lots of exercise and playtime and loves going back every time!We highly recommend Dakota and Shiloh and their excellent staff if anyone looking for professional dog training.

Lone Star State K9 has been so wonderful to work with! Shiloh and Dakota truly want what’s best for us and our dog, Kaizen. I submitted a request online and Shiloh reached out almost immediately to set up an appointment with us and to meet our dog. Dakoda has many years of experience under his belt and makes us very involved with the training we partake in. The passion and care they show for all their dogs, you can tell they love what they do. We have been coming to them since Kaizen was 5 months old and it was the best decision we could have made. They were so friendly and welcoming from the first day we met. They really listening to our goals and accommodate our needs to the best of their ability. It was first time for us to leave our dogs at this place. We’ve tried a lot of other options prior to this, and finally, for the first time this place met all our expectations!!! It is a beautiful place with a lot of space for dogs to run, and exercise, and explore.We have 2 large needy dogs, and both of them looked happy and healthy when they got back home!! They were well groomed too! We were getting updates and pictures of our pups every day. The trainers were very communicative, answering all our questions along the way, so we never had to worry about if everything is going all right!Definitely would use this place again!!!

I boarded my pup with Lone Star State for two weeks and it was the best experience I’ve ever had with a dog boarder. My dog can be reactive/unfriendly with new people so I was concerned to drop him off to a new boarder when my old boarder shut down. But Shiloh suggested I bring him by before my trip so they could meet my pup and help him feel less nervous about staying. I felt very confident and comfortable leaving my pup there and got so many happy updates/pictures from Shiloh the entire time I was away! Will definitely be sending my pup here whenever I go away on vacation!

My 1 year old GSD mix, Henry, just completed the 4 week Board and Train program with Lone Star State K9. I primarily chose them due to their experience with GSDs and positive reinforcement training vs e-collars that many dog trainers use. Shiloh was super easy to work with on scheduling and pricing, and she sent me updates on Henry’s progress multiple times a week. Dakoda and all the trainers really know their stuff and Dakoda provided a comprehensive training session and summary when I picked Henry up. Henry’s training has made our bond stronger, my life easier, and he is much happier. Thank you LSSK9!Update: Henry has been boarded at LSSK9 once every month or two since his board and train due to my work travel. Shiloh is always on quick to respond when I request a boarding appointment and sends daily photos while he’s there. Henry always gets super excited when we pull on to their road for drop off, and comes back with better manners and a few days of sleepiness from all his playtime and training. I am so grateful for Shiloh, Dakoda, and all the trainers’ help when I travel!

I’m so beyond grateful for Lone Star State K9! They did such an awesome job with my 2 year old German Shepherd Koda! I had sent him to Lone Star for their 4 week board and Train to work on being more calm in overstimulating environments and gaining a bit more confidence in more public areas. Ever since I brought him home he's been a completely differently dog but in the best way possible!! I took him out on an outing after a couple days of adjusting back home and he did amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better outing for it being our first time out together in 4 weeks! He did get spooked a few times but he recovered almost instantly where as in the past it would take him quite a while to recover. We still have a lot of work to keep up on and grow in but I'm so happy overall with how far he's come! If you’re looking for any type of training or boarding I highly recommend Lone Star! They will treat your pup like they’re their own and keep you updated along the way!

Having a rescue dog with trust issues makes it difficult to find patient and trustworthy caregivers until I found Dakoda and Shiloh! Dakoda received my dog, he immediately started to try to gain trust with him and was on the floor petting my dog before we left! Shiloh answered text messages within minutes, she also gave daily updates and pictures! When I went to pick my dog up he was excited to see me but he was also happy to be with Shiloh that says a lot. I’m grateful to have found such great people to care for my dog when I have to travel!

Shiloh was incredibly kind and helpful when boarding my blue heeler, Dakota. Since moving to San Antonio, I had struggled to find a business that I could trust to handle Dakota's reactive behavior with other animals and people.Shiloh not only put my anxiety at ease by explaining her training experience and the measures taken to keep dogs safe, such as individual play time, but was also extremely communicative making the reservation (and paperwork) process seamless.From dropping Dakota off to picking her up, I could tell she was well taken care of. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Lone Star K9 family. The staff are not just professionals; they are genuine animal lovers. Their dedication to the well-being and happiness of all the animals in their care is evident in every interaction and decision they make. We felt a sense of trust and reassurance right from the start.Our dog underwent the 4 week board and train program and when we picked up our pup, it was like we had a brand new dog – well-behaved, responsive, and still as affectionate as ever. The daily exercise and activities kept our puppy engaged and happy and the facility is a fun environment for pets to socialize and play. They will tailor the training to each pet's individual needs, take them on outings and have truly set us up with such a great foundation to continue to work from. Cooper absolutely loved his time with them! He did the 6 week on and off leash training and now his duration to stay in a spot is incredible it used to be hard to get him to sit for 2 seconds let alone 2 minutes. I absolutely recommend them you really get your moneys worth and learn skills you would never thought of implying to your dog! Cooper sure is one “ Hot Dog” and will definitely be visiting his favorite Roa for boarding when we go on family trips!! 🐾

By far the best decision I’ve made to work with LSSK9! Dakoda is the most knowledgeable, experienced and humble trainer I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He is patient, kind and an exceptional teacher! He took the time to get to know my goals and my dog before we started the session. During the session he also explained what he was doing and why he was doing it which was such valuable take home knowledge. We are so grateful for Lone Star K9 coming into our lives. We purchased our puppy for our oldest daughter from what we thought was a reputable breeder. A couple weeks after bringing him home we started noticing some aggression issues towards our youngest daughter. After failed attempts at getting help from the breeder (except we just need to bring him back and pay for training which was 3 hours away), we started looking for someone closer. We were able to find Lone Star K9 through Facebook and reached out to them. Shiloh immediately contacted us and we scheduled in home training with Roa to help our Malinois Gunner. He loved her from the moment she walked in the door and gave her a hug. From her instruction we saw a huge improvement in Gunner from basics to some more advanced commands and training. We ended our training period with Roa and thought we had it all figured out. A few months later we had an incident with a neighbor and we almost lost Gunner. We contacted Shiloh who suggested we put him in their 6 week on and off leash training at their facility. We knew it was either that or we rehome him (which would have crushed our daughter). We didnt want to give up on him and so in a last ditch effort we sent him to Shiloh and Dakota for their 6 week training course in Devine. We received almost daily updates from Shiloh on his progress along with videos every few days of his training. We learned what we thought was aggressive behavior was more his reaction out of fear or not being comfrtable with strangers. His progress was unbelievable. The difference in his understanding of commands and understanding what to do and not to do is astounding. His improvement in public and around strangers is night and day. He is still "aware" of his surroundings but the barking and lunging is no longer an issue. He obeys commands and has also gotten rid of some of the bad habits we didn't know how to fix (counter surfing, running out the open doors, ect...) Dakota, Shiloh, Roa and the Lone Star K9 staff are not only amazing but life changers. The compassion and family felt environment we experienced during this whole process really exemplifies their love for what they do. We look forward to more training with them in the future and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to train their dogs with from simple commmands and public manners to specific issues and so on. Although he is still a puppy and still testing boundaries, he is showing his potential! Thank you Lone Star K9

What a fantastic company. We rescued two dogs and were having issues so we reached out to them and in twelve weeks we noticed a fantastic difference. Jen was a great trainer and worked with our hectic schedule.We then took them to the actual kennel for a trip and dogs were so happy while they were there. It was nice to not have to worry about them while we were away. Totally worth the money for ease of mind.

My two boys (Finn & Django) needed help with manners. I had looked around at several other trainers and training facilities for my boys but I always found something that I wasn’t fond of. I wanted trainers that were use to working with big boys while also having my boys in a home environment. Lone Star State K9 was just the place for my boys. My boys were with them for 5 weeks and I will say that the communication was top notch. I didn’t have to worry about how they were doing because I was getting texts, pictures and videos of their progress. That filled my heart with joy especially because my big boy Finn can be stubborn with who he accepts. I am extremely happy with the progress my boys have been making. I highly recommend Lone Star State K9 - constantly!

I have had an absolutely amazing experience with both training and boarding at Lone Star State K9. I have a lab/pit mix and her behavioral problems are now a thing of the past. Shiloh and team are always welcoming and patient with my dog, Daisy. They have been a god-send after a number of bad experiences with Rover and another dog trainer/boarder. Their setup allows for stress free handoffs and she gets all the individual attention she needs when I am out of town. In fact, her behavior around strangers and other dogs has improved dramatically since working with Lone Star State K9. They are well worth the drive from San Antonio.I highly recommend their services. 10/10

We would highly recommend Lone Star State K9 (LSSK9) to anyone looking to board and/or train. We actually found them through a recommendation on NextDoor and Facebook, and their online reviews were so highly rated that we immediately signed up our Mini Aussie (Rocky). Fast forward a few months, and our Rocky just completed his 6-week board & train program, and we are so impressed with how much he has learned. He is so much calmer now and is definitely more attentive to us. Taking him for walks is much more pleasant now as he follows all the commands well and isn’t barking at people or other dogs.During the 6-week program, Shiloh consistently kept us updated on progress. We loved getting pics and videos twice a week of our dog with the trainers. You can certainly tell that everyone at LSSK9 really loves the dogs and take pride in their training. On the last day of the program, they have an hour session to go over everything with you, from all of the commands to use and how to utilize the collars that go home with you. They were very patient with teaching us and answering all of our questions. Even after leaving, they continue to offer support with answering any questions we have. We truly appreciate all of their hard work and how much love they gave to our pup while he was in their care. We will definitely trust them in the future with any boarding and training needs. Lone Star State K9 LLC is fantastic. We have sent Belgian MalinoisMmelba many times over the last 4 years when we have to leave as long as 20 days!!! Shiloh and Dekoda boarding all types of dogs and also training all types of dogs. Unlike other places they have large areas to take care of the dogs. I highly recommend taking your dogs to Lone Star State K9.

Shiloh and her team are fantastic! I will not take my dog anywhere else. Annie (my dog) is very wary of strangers and has fear reactivity which although has gotten much better still has issues with meeting strangers and being boarded. Lone Star State are patient and gentle and within a few hours Annie is having a great time. Whatever breed your dog is, whatever their personality is these guys have it covered. Being able to trust these guys and confident that they look out for Annie's best interests has been so great and allowed us to board her knowing she will have a great time and we need not worry.
