There were not a lot of dogs when we went, but we found a great one anyways. The staff were helpful and friendly. We found a puppy that we clicked with and was able to take him home the same day. They were very clear on the terms of the adoption and in my case they waived the adoption fees. The puppy is great. Very happy and appears to have been well cared for.

Very clean and wonderful volunteers. I have actually filled out my paperwork to become a volunteer. That is done at the DPPD; that tells me they care enough to screen volunteer help. If there is anything in your background that isn't favorable to work around animals don't even bother to apply. If you can't volunteer for whatever reason, please consider donating food or toys. We can all do something ❤️

I seen some posts blaming the animal shelter for not doing something correctly. Well I have just one question for you. How come you are bringing your pet here in the first place. When you get a pet your supposed to learn all about them one girl said her do got to big. Well you should of checked how big the dog was gonna get before you even got the puppy. Your bringing your dog here because you are not a responsible dog owner. You just can't say oh my apt is to small are we take vacations a lot just one excuse after the other and then you want to blame these people who are here to take your pet in that you no longer want. I can almost guarantee you the people working here would not be working here if they did not care for animals. I am sure it is a sometime depressing job when they see pet owners bring a puppy in that they got cause they were to lazy paper train it. The people that work here see the poor dogs after you leave them behind and left the responsibility up to them to do something with your pet. No don't criticize so fast before you ask your self why am I bringing my dog here? and maybe you should put your own self 0 stars for being a lousy pet owner.

I should have looked at the reviews before coming here. I took my dog there to get adopted. I had to give up my dog because he was too big for my three year old son. He was very playful but he would jump on him and knock him down. I wanted him to get adopted by a good family who had older or no kids. Staff told me they had a big adoption event the next day, hopefully he would get adopted. My dog was a little hesitant going with the staff but I put him in the cage myself. They told me if he was not adoptable to call back Monday and they would return him to me. I called today and they stated that my dog attacked an employee and he was put to sleep on Friday. I believe that was poor judgement!!! My concern is why didn’t they call me directly and tell me that my dog was giving them a hard time, give me an option of whether I wanted to take him back before Monday!?? If I would have known they were going to euthize him before telling me, I would have never taken him there. He was a good loving dog, he was just probably scared cause he didn’t know what was happening! It was a mistake taking him there. I do not believe the staff has the animal’s best interest at heart. I am deeply saddened by their decision to not come to me first.

Very well taken care of when MARSHA is there for sure! I'm not sure what the guy behind desk on computer does all day when there is animals with out food or water...of course Marsha wasn't there...but the supervisor was so I'm just waiting for the vote for next supervisor?! Can we take a pole?

These people are doing the best they can in what is often a very bad situation. If you’re able to adopt a pet please go here! If not and you want to help, VOLUNTEER!! Don’t just gripe, grab a brush, sit down and start interacting or throw a ball.Wonderful staff doing a great service in our community!Thank you Gina!

Marsha was very kind.But the shelter is infested fleas. It know it's my fault for my dog being picked up, but she has NEVER had that many fleas... she was covered and smelled terrible when I picked her up...

I tried calling to get info about adoption a puppy put on their Facebook page yesterday; no answer.Left a message and NEVER got called back!!They don't seem too serious about getting these animals good homes which is terrible.I'll going up their Monday in hopes there is someone in charge who does care!!!

Larixza is a great worker there for adoption n her parners too Very kind people I told them this Christmas I was looking to adopt a kitty my last job had a stray baby kitty who brought the place so much affection n happiness I was so attach to the kitty n I found a look alike male kitty who's super sweet n very cute and small u can go see the pets they have for adoption but wont let u take same day if the pets are not ready , super NICE place and experience , Will recomend this place and not bad for the price too

set me up for an interview got my hopes up told me my schedule showed me around the shelter and then proceeds to tell me towards the end they have like 10 interviewes and they picked someone else up a week later when i thought everything went great really bad management.

I don't understand what kind of animal shelter this is, very clean, but this lack of sensitivity and love. 2 months ago I am rented in a house in Deer Park, there the former owners abandoned two adult dogs and the female had 4 puppies, I attended them, but I am leaving that house and I do not want to do the same, 2 days ago I was here and They told me that since I did not own a house in Deer Park and my license does not have the address of that place, I could not take them. I was willing to pay the 150 dollars that they ask me to bring the dogs, but they said no. There I was attended by a tall, dark-haired man, half chubby and he speaks Spanish, because my English is not good. He told me that he could not do anything for me !!!!, I did not need help, they were the dogs that needed help and a place with love that received them. Thank God and other places in Houston I solved the problem of the dogs, not my problem as that man said, that for me if I were the owner of that place, I would not work there.No entiendo que tipo de refugio de animales es este, muy limpio, pero esta falta de sensibilidad y amor. Hace 2 meses estoy rentada en una casa de Deer Park, alli los antiguos dueños abandonaron a dos perros adultos y la hembra tuvo 4 cachorros, Los atendi, pero me voy de esa casa y no quiero hacer lo mismo, Hace 2 dias estuve aqui y me dijeron que como yo no era dueña de casa en Deer Park y mi licencia no tiene la direccion de ese lugar, no podia llevarlos. Estaba dispuesta a pagar los 150 dollares que me piden por llevar los perritos, pero me dijeron que no. Alli me atendio un hombre alto, trigueño, medio gordito y habla español, porque mi ingles no es bueno. Me dijo que no podia hacer nada por mi !!!!, yo no necesitaba ayuda, eran los perros que necesitaban ayuda y un lugar con amor que los recibiera. Gracias a Dios y otros lugares en Houston resolvi el problema de los perritos, no mi problema como dijo ese hombre, Si fuera yo la dueña de ese local, no trabajaria alli.
