Took my grandsons out and picked up 6 chickens today. Gene and Cindy made us feel right at home and picking out chickens was quick and easy. This is the place to go for healthy quality chickens. Very happy with our experience. Now to go back and get bees so we can have honey.

Cindy and everyone at the farm is polite and easy to talk to. They will take time to answer any questions you have. I have purchased many Rio Grande Turkeys from this place; all have arrived healthy. We now have hens nesting in the yard. Highly recommend giving the turkeys a try!

This is the only place I’ll go to get my chickens. It’s a beautiful, peaceful environment, and the owners are so helpful. It’s immaculately clean and their birds are healthy! We had an Opossum take out our flock and after his capture ( our Daughter-in-law is the local animal control so she took him and release out in country by a pound) we needed to replace our lost chickens. The Bird and Bee Farm was our choice after some searching and research. We drove here from Clyde (about a 4 hr drive one way). We just made the a complete day trip.So please that we choose here to get our birds. They are very healthy and beautiful.This is not the run of the mill chicken farm it is well kept, certified, very clean, the healthiest birds you will ever purchase, and beautiful to top it off. We will be back to get a couple more to add to our flock (do that earlier in the year than we did! Some of what we were wanting were already gone. Gene said after March they go fast!) and we are going to add a small hive to our yard for the garden and fruit trees. We now know just where that purchase will be made also.The owners are very knowledgeable in what they are doing. Gene was so wonderful. They have most everything you need and the know how to get you there!

Wonderful farm, incredibly kind owners. We enjoyed the beautiful country drive to get there from New Braunfels. They run a wonderful farm with well cared for animals. They are incredibly involved in educating people on the wonders of nature. Truly wonderful caring people. We have bought a number of healthy happy chickens from them, and have been so happy.

I never knew I could have such a great buying experience purchasing chickens. Gene was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when I went to Bird and Bee farm to pick out my birds. I came with a list of what I wanted and he made it happen. I purchased 7 started pullets and they’re healthy, gorgeous birds. I purchased 3 Black Copper Marans pullets from here and so far they are very healthy. Although I didn’t get to visit the farm myself I’m very happy to have found this three girls since they are so hard to find, especially at their age. I’ve had a negative experience with a similar place, but this reassures me that I can get healthy birds. They are beautiful birds and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I love that Bird and Bee Farm sells more rare, hard to find breeds and it also makes me very happy to see that they label their Easter Eggers correctly instead of labeling them as Ameraucanas. I’ll definitely be back!

If you haven’t visited Bird and Bee Farm in Rockdale Texas, be sure and plan to go! What a hidden gem this place is. You will find the proprietors Cindy and Gene Rek and their helpers to be warm and welcoming as they introduce you to their vast array of laying hens, raised with expert science and lots of TLC. They have so many fascinating varieties. Some are absolutely beautiful, some especially gentle, and you will find those that best fit whatever traits you may prefer. They also have guineas and turkeys for sale, and bees for honey. YUM YUM YUM!Tour their butterfly garden. Admire the first rate chicken coups built by Cindy’s brother and order one to be delivered and installed to house your hens. You will be impressed with the way almost the entire farm has been developed using salvaged materials and repurposed finds. You may even come away with creative ideas to use in your own backyard! Whether you live near or far away, Bird and Bee Farm is well worth the trip.

I wanted to love this place, but I am torn. Unfortunately we do not have healthy chickens! I question the vaccination information on their website. We got 8 wk old Brahma's in April. One Brahma died this summer from Marek's (supposedly vaccinated). Another is suffering through a pretty bad case of fowl pox and may not make it. I know that things have been crazy and farms like this have been overwhelmed by demand, but I can't help but question if our pullets were really vaccinated. Our chickens have a clean coop, an entire large backyard for grazing, good feed, and clean water. I raised ducks previously and never had a single health issue.

Best chicken purchasing experience I’ve had! Super clean, good variety of chickens and the owners were so kind, patient and knowledgeable. It’s worth the drive from Austin to get healthy hens! Will be coming back in the future!
