There is an excellent small visitor center here with great exhibits. There is also a great video that explains the pictographs.I joined a group led by a ranger guide into the canyon and up to the pictographs. It's a short but slightly demanding hike (depending on your fitness level and your joints) since there are many steps up and down. I'm glad I did it!If you're interested in the hike to see the pictographs, be sure to reserve in advance!!

Excellent park but call ahead to check to see if there is a canyon tour. Great canyon rim hikes too.

Staff was very friendly and nice. We made reservations for a 3 o'clock tour. The Park Ranger was nice and the tour was amazing. Lots of great cave paintings that were made 4,000 years ago! But there are a few challenging parts along the way. Take water with you. Very glad we stopped it was quite a memorable experience!

Wow! Beautiful park. I would love to go back and see more. I was not there in time for a guided tour to see the pictographs.

Full Hiker Rundown:So i started out on the 7.5mi "Canyon Rim" trail. After hitting spot 5 where the Presa and Canyon rim intersect, i decided id rather get all the way down to the Rio Grande faster than doing all the winding around the rim. I took the "Presa" trail, hit the "Fork" to the "Rio Grande" trails and then came back.So i had a really good sense of all of the trail options. I did about 6.89 miles of their system. IMO:*Its all "Easy" trails. None of them have steep inclines, 0 scrambling, they are all *nice walks*. I wouldnt take someone with a walker by any means, but someone up for a decent walk would make it pretty easy.*The most challenging is the Canyon Rim; its long, winding, and rockier than the others. Great if you want a long hike right next to the edge of the canyon. I got to the point that i didnt want to spend 1000 steps going around something that in a straight line would have been 100 😅 But i met back up with it at point 7 by the river and that bottom loop was my favorite.*Presa had some incline but not too much. Pretty simple.*Rio Grande/Middle Fork trails are basically an "Old Ranch Road" per the map, my Chevy Spark Rental car could easily have navigated it. 😆*Basically ANY other trail but Canyon Rim, just look around at the countryside and imagine walking through that on a dirt road. Thats their vibe. Theres no view of anything *canyonesque*, just scrub, dirt, cactus' and flowers. And the best cactus flower pictures i got were actually on Canyon Rim.*Staff at the Visitor Center were great. The museum there is worth a look too. The park office there has done a great job.Overall, worth the walk down to points 6 and 7 by the Rio Grande, i very much enjoyed the scenery down there. My super zoom even let me catch a picture of the Panther pictogram in the cave across the river.

The visitors center has a nice museum covering history of the region. The park is known for pictographs made the local tribes going back thousands of years. Guided tours are available to go into the canyon to view them. I didn't take a tour but hiked one of the many well maintained trails and ended up overlooking the Rio Grande River. I would definatly go back!

I would have been more impressed if I could actually get access to the Rio grande turns out the only way to get there is by walking track and several miles of hiking the visitor center and the RV parking is quite away from the canyons

First, the rangers were very helpful and nice. Very personable. It was so hot we did a lot of road trips, with the AC. Very pleasant place to visit, hope to go back for some hiking when it's cooler. Very clean. I'll go again. C.

The visitor center is a great place to learn more about the history of the area. The tour guide and counter person were awesome! They took the time to answer our questions and talk more about the history of Seminole State Park. I wish I could remember their names to thank them individually!! You are so awesome!Thank you!!

Must visit state Park, unfortunately it's a long drive from Austin. I went to the park while driving back from big bend NP so made use of my driving break. Did a canyon rim hike and went on a guided tour. A guided tour is a must if you've 1.5hrs, it was $8 and they've one at 10am and another at 3pm.

Although the gift shop was closed off the center was open for information and the ranger was very helpful recommending good hiking trails. Unfortunately the guided tours were cancelled due to weather but we enjoyed hiking the self guided areas.

They close the visitors center earlier than the advertised hours with no notice. We showed up 10 minutes before close, hoping to check in, only to find the one employee already driving away.
