Bought this sweet girl a few weeks ago! She is so cuddly and loves being held or perched up on my shoulder. The employees there are very friendly and knowledgeable and I even got a call from them about a week later, checking up on how it was going with the bird which was appreciated. Definitely recommend buying from this shop if you are looking for a bird friend or even just supplies for your bird.

Great people!I got a quaker parrot in August 2023, they were following up with us many days and checking how the bird was doing which I appreciate that. Now our bird is one of family member, he started talking a while ago. I recommend this place if you want to have a bird.

Absolutely love this place! John and Chris H are absolutely fantastic.The selection of toys, food, treats, etc- is plentiful, and the store is always orderly and welcoming. I came here because I wanted to see the selection of parrots they had to offer, and ended up falling in love with a little sun-conure!John and Chris H are extremely knowledgeable. They provide a lot of services including break-trimming and trimming nails.I come here weekly for all my parrots toys, treats, and food!If you are looking to add a feathery friend to your family look no further to than this amazing shop, really friendly bunch, cute parrots, parakeets, etc. I can’t recommend this place enough!

We are from California and I found this spot for my parrot for nail trimming. What a deal! Staff is so helpful and friendly, we learned so much about our bird, more than we have from an actual Vet! We purchased bird seed as well. Awesome stuff here!!!!!!!

We boarded our goffins cockatoo for 5 days and they sent videos everyday. They took good care of him and he did well there. Stellar boarding prices! Would recommend!

I’ve been coming to Kookaburra for 7 years for bird supplies and I have never had a negative experience. John and Chris are really nice and knowledgeable and always willing to share helpful information. I got a green cheek conure from them last summer and if I ever have questions, John’s been so kind and generous with his time. I love kookaburra and I’ll be a lifelong customer.

Recommend 100% they are full of knowledge and are able to help you if you have questions. Whenever you get a bird with them they will talk to you about the care the bird needs. It’s a 20 minutes talk that is really helpful and need it because each bird is different. I love the care they have with each bird. The toy section is amazing they have different types of toy and prices.

Never been to this shop physically, however their online shop is great. Their prices are lower or similar to Amazon and I can support a smaller business. Great shipping and everything arrives well packaged. If I'm ever close by I'll be sure to poke my head in.

I went in to your shop to buy my dad a couple of parakeets and left with one of the coolest, sweetest, most chill birds ever! Thank you Kookaburra for introducing us to the little bourke. We got two cockatiels a while back ago and we absolutely adore them. They of course took a couple few days to adjust but boy are they well handled. They are super friendly and warmed up to us pretty quickly. We love the birds and got lots of tips on them at purchase. Definitely recommend.

we found this gem accidentally as our vet is next door . i walked into the store as it says bird shop and boarding as well .. Mr Chris was very welcoming and informative ,he showed me the whole place the kennel , the crates (which is so clean!! ) and the backyard (which is huge btw Ginger loved it) .. no nasty smells of urine or even birds!! John who is at the counter sometimes is a jolly fellow and very warm.. i personally thanked him for taking care of our dog Ginger because she was well taken care of for 10 days and did not miss us at all ,when we picked her up she did not have the nasty smell of urine or other kennel smells that dogs generally get at these places !! we boarded for long ten days for the first time since we got her and were skeptical if she could cope that long ,shes a little dog and very playful though and their staff gave her a lot of cuddles everyday :)!! as i took my time to research a lot of options.. i chose this for their PERSONALIZED ATTENTION TO EACH DOG and willing to learn details as well .. they sent videos of her each day in email .. they upload it to their channel on youtube as well and it just feels so better to see your babies well taken care of !! Thank you John and Chris and the other little guy i dint catch your name !! they have hilarious commentary in the videos too!! thank you!! we will come back soon FOR SURE

We love Kookaburra we have a cockatiel named Frankie and we are now getting a second one for my mom when it’s ready to come home. Everyone has been wonderful every time we come to the shop. Always teaching us new things about birds. Keep up the great work.

Me and my kids love this place! John (manager) is extremely helpful and never pushes on any sales. All the staff members are super sweet and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend this place if you need a feathery friend and supplies!

Updated review 2024:This is still an excellent store. I trust the food from here over any PetSmart or Petco (or Amazon) because it's much fresher. The prices are still very competitive and just as cheap, if not cheaper than buying online, especially since they periodically run sales.The toy selection is great, especially for larger birds which can be hard to find toys for. They also sell toy parts if you want to just try making your own toys (I'm not creative enough). I feel much better about buying from a local store than giving Jeff Bezos/Amazon any more of my money. There's a variety of cages from small to very large, and some cages are offered with beginner packages with toys and food added in.The staff is still great. I'm horrible with names but the gentleman with curly hair and glasses knows just about anything you can possibly think of when it comes to birds. He's a parrot encyclopedia.They also do a great job with clipping my Amazon's nails. He's the only one of my birds I don't dare do myself because he's a definite biter (everyone in the family has had stitches from when he's in a grumpy mood), but the guys here have it handled no problem. I noticed them disinfect the clippers too, which makes me feel good about germs not spreading from other birds.I drive an hour just to visit this store because I live nowhere near Carrollton. It's worth the drive.They also do bird sitting and this is the only place I would trust to leave my birds if I had to.Original review:This place is a bird lover's heaven. Lots of toys and perches to choose from as well as plenty of food mixes. Prices were about what I pay on Amazon, which is great since I can see the stuff in person.Staff were super friendly. They also do wing and nail clipping here if you want to avoid bites trying to do it yourself.

So I drive 45 minutes to see a bird that the wife liked. We met John and the experience was great. He answered all our knit picky questions and let us handle the birds. The kids fell for one of the Macaws and we purchased the bird. Johns knowledge and his obvious love for animals was amazing and made it easy to decide on getting a bird here. Thanks so much.

Prices of toys/food/perches seemed very fair, staff was very informative and knowledgeable and were happy to answer any questions we asked. The building was very clean and the birds looked very healthy. Absolutely recommend!

I purchased a Blue and Gold Macaw from you. He was 5 years old at the time. That was 1984. He died on December 22nd, 2022. He did you get posted or not I'm not sure actually had a nope it's been posted or notwas 39 years old. He was a very sweet boy. I miss him terribly. I can not afford a $1,000.00 bird. Do you have any suggestions for me? He was a very smart boy. I think about him every day.

Update 2023: Due to a death in the family, we are now fostering two senior dogs and have made use of Kookaburra's dog boarding several times - we (and the doggos) could not be happier! I highly recommend Kookaburra for dog AND bird boarding. I wouldn't take my feathered and furred family members anywhere else.(original review - we've now been customers for 9 years)In the 4 years we've been customers of Kookaburra, we've never had anything but positive experiences here. Making several visits before acquiring each of our birds (about a year apart), John & Michelle answered our questions and helped us pick the right birds for our household. Every time we board, I am extremely comfortable with the care our birds receive - and more importantly, the birds are happy and healthy. The shop is clean, well-stocked, and of course, MIRANDA!! I am thrilled to have this valuable resource for my feathered babies!

I bought two rosey bourkes and have had them about 6 weeks or so now. They are too cute! I’m surprised to see people saying they had an issue with rudeness because I personally interacted with the manager over the phone and via email, the owner on social media, and two other employees in-store without issue. Not discounting anyone else’s experience, but I didn’t personally encounter any negativity or anything. I had no issue getting prompt email responses to my questions, and was greeted and helped immediately upon entering the shop when I went to pick up the birds.I will say that if you are expecting to just walk in and find a selection of birds ready to go home, you will probably be disappointed because they do have a waitlist and seem to stay pretty busy. Check online first if you want to know what’s available. I secured my little dudes at least a month before they were ready to go home. For me, this wasn’t a problem. My personal hot take is that it’s not a bad thing to plan ahead when getting a pet that can live 20 years or more.Anyway, I’m posting a photo of my babies because they’re adorable. I would buy from this store again if I were in the market.

Took my African grey for a trim today and have to say it was wonderful.They are so kind and knowledgeable, I've gotten a great consultation about what would be good for my specific type of bird.I will definitely take all 17 of my parrots back and I recommend anybody that is looking for a great store to check them out.John is amazing in answering all your questions and they have HEALTHY, HAPPY and BEAUTIFUL birds...Store is super clean as well as the boarding room... great place

Over all the shop is great. The manager is always rude and pretty disrespectful to his workers. Not a bad day kinda thing its his behavior everytime i go in there. Dont want to give too low of a rating due to the actions of their employee.

This was our First visit to Kookaburra bird shop and it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted by Chris who is very helpful , super nice and didn't hesitate to answer many questions as well as allow us to handle the birds we were interested in. Shortly after we were greeted by John as well and he helped my daughter decide on the best bird for her. He thoroughly explained the care and other valuable information we needed to know about our new little companion, helped us gather the items we needed and was all around a pleasure to talk to. I will gladly recommend this bird Shop to anyone. The friendly knowledgeable staff, clean environment and happy, healthy birds made our experience at Kookaburra very pleasant.
