There’s a reason they won’t let you bring your phone in the building. Adopted a cat there that had one eye. He had gotten so sick there he literally scratched his own eye out. Understandably because they will let you get the cats out on your own and let them walk around the cat room. Cats can spread germs so easily to each other.Multiple dogs were shoved in small cages together and some were sitting in puddles or poop. They will let you take the dogs to the “poop covered play area” all by yourself.Besides the poor care the women in the front were very rude and just sat around talking to each other. Would adopt there again just to rescue the animals. It’s barely a shelter and it’s understood why they don’t call it a rescue.

I rescued a puppy from here, she was 2 and a half months old and had been spayed the day before. Her medical paperwork indicated she was prescribed medication for inflammation and pain, but they never gave it to her and didn't give it to me when I adopted her. As a result of that, he incision was leaking and he tummy was really swollen. I took her to a vet to make sure she didn't have an infection, but I have to keep her isolated until the surgery heals so I can get her vaccinated. She's had no vaccinations and has been at risk since I got her.

I got a puppy from the shelter he’s a sweet puppy but had a lot of emotional issues for one he would not go potty or number 2 outside, even though we spent several hours outside, when I took him back the staff was really rude and didn’t even try to understand or hear about his issues, asked about if they would put the money back on my card and she pretty much ignored me. I will never recommend them as the staff is horrible

These people think they the police or something trying to intimidate. All they do I harass and harass more. Cited me for no registration on my dogs and rabies shots. Took the proof to them and ate them up. And they still thinking they can intimidate. Haha they make me laugh so much specially when they look stupid and goofy on my ring cameras.

They were great, I went with no appointment on a whim (not recommended) as they require appointment. But I was lucky to be the only one there and they allowed me to see the cat I wanted. I brought her home in less than 30 minutes. The ladies working the adoption were very accommodating and super chill and friendly. I was very pleased.

This may be one of the nicest animal shelters I've ever been to. The pens were clean, the employees and volunteers were extremely friendly. I love how they have a grassy outdoor area. It was a great experience and we took home the sweetest pup!!

I want to start by saying that the facility is very nice and clean. However, a friend of mine surrendered her cat as a last resort due to a difficult housing situation. Her cat is the sweetest thing and has never been capable of being aggressive towards anyone under any circumstances. After only a week of being at this shelter, they told us she was being placed on the euthanasia list. Despite never attempting to bite or scratch any of the employees, they were going to put her down for hissing at the staff. Thankfully, my friend and I were able to pick her up in time to find her a new home ourselves. If we hadn’t, she would’ve been euthanized for being afraid. I think that shelters should show compassion and patience for surrendered animals that are traumatized and terrified. I wouldn’t surrender your pet here if you truly want to give them a second chance.

Do not surrender your pets to this shelter. It’s a death sentence for your animal. They show very little effort and patience to give your pet a chance at a new life. They considered a scared cat that only hissed as too aggressive and should be euthanized immediately. Luckily this particular animal was saved immediately after hearing what the “shelter” intended to do to the poor cat.

Vanessa is a blessing!! She helped my dog and I from an unexpected lay-off. Thanks to Vanessa and all the good people who donate here, my dog which I've had for more than 12 years, remains healthy and happy. They'll make efforts that animals don't have to live in cages, but rather in loving environments. Thank you to all the donations and to Vanessa for the much needed assistance. Great dog park, too! Is a great facility very nice and has a wonderful outside grass area as well as a pond for the animals. I recently dropped off Luna but they call her Moon, but if you do adopter the preferred name to call her is Luna. I'm hoping that somebody will adopt her soon she is a very fun loving dog knows how to shake, fetch , sit.and is kennel train. She is also very sweet and loves to show affection. She is also Blue Heeler as well which they did not post on her profile, she will be a great loving and loyal dog and I hope that there is a family out there that is perfect for her. I just came and dropped off 2 kittens that I found, they are siblings one girl one boy, I hope they get adopted to good people, they are very sweet. The girl is white with orange and grey with black like her brother and the boy is grey with black and has the cutest smallest face. If you adopt them pls let me know.

Not long ago I wrote a very good review about this place but due to recent message I am now changing it. First let me say they do take good care of the animals here that is their priority and they do a good job of that but due to recent events concerning my dog at least one of these people is a liar and a backstabber. What goes around comes around whatever you do in life will come back to you very disappointed in the way you people have chose to handle this I mean I'm really disappointed that you've chosen to handle it like this but it is what it is

My self and my husband walked in to the animal shelter looking for a cat. They had only two available. But one was a older cat (6 yrs) named Smokey. Myself and my husband thought well why not go say hi. Long story short he is now in my house and is the most amazing cat I have ever owned. Wonderful. We were able to donate unused and no longer used toys, and we wanted to rescue a cat.We saw the most beautiful talkative cat, and he was so affectionate and friendly. We couldn't leave him there, so we adopted him.The people made the whole process painless and easy.Thank you so much!

Shelter doing a great job taking car of pets but need more volunteer help and food for the animals. My husband and I are giving them bags of dog food each month but they are full of hungry dogs and cats so thry need more food for for them along with kitty litter.

We called them about 2 dogs running loose in our park. Some one came out , drove around for about 10 seconds and left. I know this because I witnessed it with my own eyes! Maybe our new mayor can do something to improve this. Animal Services obviously DOES NOT care about animals.

A little tricky to find as Carrollton itself meanders in many directions. The facility is very appealing from the outside, and equally as appealing inside. The conditions are very well kept up, but staff were not readily available for consult, and many animals were not ready for adoption, so for me it was a little disappointing.

Needed to adopt an older kitten with a friend who has skin cancer. Got the most beautiful kitten with her markings almost looked wild with her beautiful markings. Sweetest cat, have had her now for almost a year in December. Well-behaved, well socialized, jst a baby, was litter trained, listens and ironically great at the vet, with other people and other animals including dogs. The staff was so helpful in helping me pick out the perfect kitten for us and our needs. Just love her! Then went to Petco to pick the necessities and some toys for her. Ran into the lady who adopted the kitten right below Nova. She was thrilled with her kitten as well and his sweet temperament, totally different breed, (Blue Russian), and younger. Highly recommend. Not over priced, very reasonable, comes with city registration rabies vaccine and spay/neuter. Just had to get her regular shots but only paid may be $35 for the total adoption fee if I remember correctly. So much more price reasonable than Operation Kindness and literally rescuing and saving a life from a kill shelter. Love our kitten Nova. Facility was clean, staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Great selection of all different types of breeds from small to medium to large, all ages,lots of different breeds to select from. An outside area and inside area to introduce potential new family member. Drop by and take a look if you are considering a kitty or a dog for an extremely reasonable adoption fee! 😊

Adopted our dachshund here. Great service. Clean place. Super friendly workers. And a top all that it’s the cheapest place to adopt a pet. Which doesn’t make sense to me as I’ve been to my city shelter that charges two arms and a leg and service was poor. Place was filthy and workers seemed to hate their job. Anyway this shelter is the best I’ve been to. Great job city of Carrollton.
