Stopped in for a break from the Hwy 290 traffic.... this is a fun convenient store and gas station. Odd assortment of art and knick knacks is available alongside the usual drinks and snacks. There is also a great bakery onsite for your sweet tooth--- but get there early, bakery treats go fast!! Restooms are available, and a dining room, too. Overall, more than the common convenience store stop.

A super cute convenience store/antique store with the cleanest and best smelling restrooms ever! That alone is worth a stop but they have good food and all the regular stuff as well.

I stop here for one reason and one reason only: they have fresh kolaches from Weikel's bakery. They charge an arm and a leg for them, but if you gotta have a kolache (a real Czech kolache), you'll pay and enjoy it.

This store has everything you may ever need. Boars head meats and cold cuts, table service nice seating...Great place to buy fun stuff, and necessities for your home.

Employees are great, tons of products if you don’t want to drive all the way to giddings or brenham, some items are over prices but that’s based on location and convenience. They have a little deli inside that makes fresh breakfast burritos and they just added lunch items that are all delicious. Outside is a sea of metal work art and cool signs for your house or ranch.

I make the drive 1/2 way to Houston twice a month. This is our meeting place. We wandered into the liquor store, and I'm glad we did. I have never seen such a large selection of moonshine in my life.

Always good. Though I wish the person who was checking people would pay better attention as he didn't see that I put two pens down next to my drink. So I didn't get the pens. I'm not complaining about not getting the pens. Just complaining that they need to pay better attention. I know other customers can be a bit harder but that isn't everyone.

They've got things you didn't even know you wanted. Prices are a little high but you're paying for convenience. Service is generally friendly and efficient. I recommend stopping in when you're in the area.

Absolutely love this place. The breakfast tacos, bakery items such as kolaches, doughnuts and cinnamon rolls are yummy. Their hamburgers are fresh ant tasty, and their deli sandwiches are top notch. They have all sorts of gifts to buy, the bathrooms are nice, and they also have a decent selection of snacks and drinks. Every time I'm in town I eat here multiple times.

This is a nice little store, and a great addition to this town. The Weikel’s Bakery that is inside has the most delicious Kolache‘s that you will find anywhere. They are the best reason to visit the store. The young lady working at the Weikel’s bakery was wonderful, and has great personality. Lotta great selection in the store, but no one else in the store has any personality.

Hi I'm traveling Houston to Austin every week? and I stopped specially in the Village Market this Mart is clean and organize restroom are clean too they have staff for everyone they get a sandwiches chicken wings pizza and they have a delicious burger too . cashier is very hospitality all the employees are greeting well and give a good service that's all we wanted

The breakfast tacos are always a must!! So big and yummy. Great price too. The manager is always so nice and friendly. Also a good place for forgotten groceries as they have a good selection. I dont like coffee anywhere but from home, and this place does have good coffee. One thing I would change is the ladies making tacos have zero personality. I mean ZERO.

stopped in for a quick pit stop and a pizza pocket and drink from the little cafe.. i remember the guy at the register was really nice and friendly... i left thinking wow, what a nice guy... and that's exactly what all places should want their customers to think when leaving.. good job...

Great store for a little pit stop gas station in a small country town, along your journey.This place has everything & anything for anyone's convenience or needs, in your family. Complete with cool metal statue's out frontAs well as a great tasting steakhouse to dine at if time is available to do so, behind the gas station. Believe it's called J&W steakhouse.

I've been stopping here for years. The Weikel's bakery sells kolaches and the store has beef jerky for sale as well. They also carry breakfast tacos with your choice of fixings and a generous serving but you need to get there early or they're gone. It's a nice little convenience store with a pretty good variety of homemade goods. Even if I am not in the mood for a kolache I must stop for their coffee. I love the pecan flavored brew they carry from the Independence brand. Only somewhat negative things I can comment on is the bakery clerks could use a little more personality and perhaps try to smile once in awhile. Their gas is a little overpriced at times but for a one stop shop they are definitely worth stopping at.Update March 2022.I am late posting this update but life has been a bit busy.I stopped here to get my usual kolache and coffee whenever I happen to be passing through omw to Houston. The clerk was not at the cash register but behind me stocking coffee cups or something so I waited at what appeared to be an open register. Another person came up and stood at the other register about 2 minutes after me. The clerk approached and waited on the other person. No big thing but then other customers lined up and the clerk continued to wait on others and ignore me. I looked around thinking perhaps I missed a sign saying register closed but there was none. Fortunately a gentleman in the other line invited me to go before him so I was able to make my purchase without having to wait behind the 3 other people that were then lined up behind him. After leaving I was getting annoyed and a little mad at being ignored by the clerk so I called the Brenham location to inquire about the manager for the Carmine location. I was told the business had been sold and apparently it was the new owner who had been rude to me. The lady in Brenham was very nice and explained she believed there might be some cultural difference and that might possibly be why the man was waited upon first. She apologized but as I told her, I appreciated the apology but it wasn’t her fault. I will say I find it unbelievable that someone would serve a customer first based on gender. I do not know if this was the actual reason but I am at a loss as to explain why the owner would ignore someone patiently waiting to make a purchase. My family and I have been shopping here for years but we will never shop at the Carmine location again.

Great place for a pit stop and a snack. The kolaches are terrific, especially the cream and cottage cheese. Sweet rolls and sausage kolaches are wonderful. Stop in when your can... you won't be disappointed!

BEWARE. Cashier doesn't wear a mask. I like to stop here for the clean bathrooms and nice bakery, but when I visited today, the cashier wasn't wearing a mask. I mentioned it to her and she said she didn't need to because there was plexiglass between us. I informed her that masks were mandated for everyone, but she disagreed and said employees didn't require masks. OH REALLY? I visited at 10am on Sept 14, 2020. I won't be back.

Lots of cool stuff. And GREAT breakfast tacos.It's at almost the halfway point between Austin and Houston, so it makes a great pitstop. Fuel prices seem to be a bit high though. If you are looking for fuel though, use the GasBuddy app...

Cute country place with all kinds of food, drinks, kolaches, and souvenirs or yard decor. Bathrooms are nice. Good place to take a travel break.
