I have been a loyal client of this veterinary clinic since 2018, and I cannot express enough how much I appreciate the care and compassion they provide. Dr. Richardson, in particular, stands out for his kindness and exceptional bedside manners when it comes to treating my dogs. Pearl Jam, my three-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, can be quite timid initially, but the entire staff at the clinic has shown incredible patience and understanding. They never rush her and take the time to help her feel at ease, which has made a world of difference in her confidence and comfort during vet visits. Unlike past experiences at other clinics where Pearl Jam was left traumatized by rough handling, the team here has helped her see that the vet can be a positive and reassuring environment. I am truly grateful for the gentle and considerate care they provide, making each visit a pleasant experience for both my furry companion and me.

Bulverde Animal Hospital has been helping me take care of our family's pets for years. Dr Richardson listens, teaches, and cares. The whole staff is so caring and helpful. On our last visit, I came in with my 15 year old dog and mentioned, mostly to myself, that next time I need to remember to bring something for my old girl to lay on. It's hard for her to stand up for long periods of time, and the tile floor is hard on her bones. One of the staff members quickly ran to the back and found a dog bed for her to lay in. That kind of Extra Care epitomizes the staff here. I also love that they are so upfront with their pricing. Once a treatment plan is recommended, the staff types up a quote with all the different prices included. From there, it's easy to determine what fits within your budget. They're always very helpful about trying to find the best way to care for your pet in a way that doesn't stretch your finances too thin.

Had an EXCELLENT experience. Dr. Richardson and his staff were very friendly. Took my dog for an emergency operation 1 hour before closing and they took her in without hesitation. Operation went great. When we picked her up the next day it seemed like she really enjoyed her overnight Stay. Definitely recommend!

Our darling Roxy battled cancer like a champ, but we could not have gotten through this tough season in our lives without the staff at the Bulverde Animal Hospital. They have known our doggie since she was born and watched her grow up. We never felt guilty going on vacation without her because the staff was absolutely amazing with her, and they loved having slumber parties with Roxy. Sometimes I wasn’t sure if they were going to actually give my doggie back because they loved her so much.When we found out Roxy had cancer, we felt like we were their only customer. They were so attentive to us, answered our multiple calls, provided treatment options and even stayed late a few times for us to bring our doggie in. All the way up to the last day, Dr Richardson and the team were very patient and total professionals handling this situation. We couldn’t asked for a better team with the best bedside manners.We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Bulverde Animal Hospital team for taking such great care of Roxy, all the way to the end. From the moment you enter to the office, you feel the genuine care of all the staff. Facilities are very clean. We had no wait time. The vet and the staff worked with our dog to get the care he needed since he is not social with other animals. They make sure no pets were around when he enters and we he was discharged. The Doctor took the time to listen to my concerns and the staff and him worked to check him thoroughly. I thanks all of you for being the best for all my pets!!! Highly recommend Dr. Richardson for your pet needs!!! Thank you all!!!

We recently switched to Bulverde Animal Hospital from a local veterinary office in San Antonio, and we could not be happier. Dr. Richardson first saw our aging 14 year old beloved lab for increasing mobility and hip problems. He immediately recognized that she was a candidate for hip injections, arthritis medication and with X-rays, she was on her way to playing with her favorite tennis ball again. Our old vet told us he puts down more dogs with her hip issues. We walked in fully mobile with our girl for that exam, and we also walked out. We're just so grateful that we have our puppy back, thanks to Dr. Richardson. This treatment plan was very affordable as well, and they offered all the medication at a discount online with auto ship, and even found other resources when cheaper. We now bring all our other fur babies here as well. These guys are really accommodating for appointments and call back with results in a timely manner as well. We're really glad to have found such a good vet with just a short drive up the road in Bulverde.

The wonderful staff at Bulverde Animal Hospital has been taking care of my dogs for the past four years. This past week they were able to get my dog in the same day for an urgent issue and take care of him quickly. Dr. Richardson and every staff member we encountered were kind and professional. My grandson and I brought our sweet family dog Captain in for my son last week and a follow-up today. I'm very impressed with all the staff here. They take their time to explain everything nicely. All the staff is upbeat and friendly and very professional. There was no waiting, we were seen right away on both appointments. The building is very clean and organized. I can see why my son chose this office to care for his dogs.

I was a bit nervous taking Oscar in as he get a little ansy w/ strangers, but when I saw him walk off w/ Sarah for his vitals and the way he was at ease (he can be a grumpy old man @ times when someone is messing with his bottom) w/ Dr. Richardson, I knew I had come to the right place. This place is the best I have to tell you the doctors here are so caring they set me an appointment at 5pm but I went home for lunch and my dog was worse so I called they said bring him in and they took such good care of him he's on a path to recovery thanks to these caring people!

I feel heard and understood as a pet owner and the staff and Dr. are willing to work with me while caring for my pup. I have a German Shorthaired Pointer and they can be quite the handful during vet visits. Their staff is compassionate, gentle and caring. They take the time she needs to not stress her or me out. This hospital was recommended by my sister. I called and was able to get an appointment in a few days. The person on the phone was kind and friendly. The place was clean and I was able to get into a room within a few minutes after arriving. I was so happy with the vet, Dr. Ashton Richardson. He allowed me the time to ask all the questions that I had and I had plenty due to us having a new dog with allergies. Dr. Richardson gave me plenty of recommendations, and even printed out everything that we talked about so I would not forget what he had suggested. I was very happy with this visit and I came home with a folder full of information and prescriptions for our dog. Dr. Richardson was an amazing vet and I would highly recommend him and this business.

Our very first encounter with the front office staff was excellent - very kind and professional. The tech was very thorough and when Dr. Richardson came into the exam room, he was very caring and spent all the time we needed to fully understand what was going on with our Bella. Dr. Richardson's explanation was detailed and not full of medical jargon. He listened as we explained Bella's history and was completely honest with what he believed would best suit her going forward. We were very impressed with his compassion and genuine care for our fur-baby.

I would have given a lower rating but tech and vet were very nice and caring towards my pet. I would not return if the tech was not as kind and patient as he was... he throughly explained everything and answered all my questions. My lower rating is due to the fact that we can hear you talking about us/clients in the back which is very unprofessional and disrespectful. Maybe go somewhere more private or come in the room and have the conversation in front of my face. Very happy with the level of service I recieved but definitely feel a certain way about hearing them talk about me in the back.

They were very nice and seem to care my puppy was very sick she needed to stay in hospital but they wanted to much money I offered a large down payment my debit card routing and account number for them to take payments out . But they refused. They would not let me make payments at all they sent me home with fluids and meds cost over 300 dollars and Abby died late that night . Broke my heart so bad . It's insane the cost of vets not everyone has alot of money I think for poor people they should allow payment arrangements . Basically if u don't have money your pets have no chance . That is sad to me . That's just the way it is .if I was a vet I'd help people rather they were rich or poor . I could never let a animal die because of no money . . That's just me .

Dr. Richardson went above and beyond! We are full time RVers just passing through and needed to find a vet to pull a bad tooth in our Collie. When he called after the surgery was over and told us that due to our dog having bad gums (because the tooth was infected) he was not able to close the gums all the way around the hole left my the pulled tooth. He recommended we see a Veterinary Specialist. But he didn't just stop at recommending we see one. He PERSONALLY called Texas A&M to see about us getting an appointment, then PERSONALLY (not a tech, not the receptionist, HIM!) called me back to tell me what he found out. He even looked up another specialist near where we are headed for me to call.I would totally take my pets here all the time if we lived in the area!His staff is also very nice, personable and friendly! They listed when we told them our concerns about anesthesia and drug sensitivity (and harmful side effects of said drug sensitivity) in the breed and were appreciative of the information we gave them for future herding breed patients that might have the same sensitivities.

i took my 17 year old chihuahua here after she exhibited episodes where she would cry out and fall over limp. i explained to the (male) vet i have seen her have small seizures before but absolutely did not think these were seizures, she had not had a seizure in several years after putting her on a medication. i made sure to make that clear as i knew my baby better than anyone else does that this could not be a seizure. i had done my own research prior to taking her in and syncope matched her episodes almost perfectly. i tried my best to tell him that, but he dismissed it immediately and said she would need a massive dose of seizure medication to stop the “seizures”. (my baby was 4 pounds at the time and a senior dog) i asked him to do further testing to see if this really was a seizure because my gut was 100% telling me otherwise and he would not oblige. he told me “he doesn’t like seeing dogs suffer and if i don’t get the shot, i should just put her down” are you kidding me?!? i was already very distressed seeing my girl go through the episodes. i walked right out in tears. he had no care to listen to me or my dog frankly. i took her to a 24 hour emergency vet clinic. sure enough she had stage 3 heart disease and was 100% having syncope episodes. this was something bulverde animal hospital could have caught years ago had proper testing been done as she was taken to them before this incident. the 24 hour emergency clinic was amazing with my baby girl. they put her on meds which stopped the episodes. i highly advise people to NOT use this clinic as they are quick to look over things and could care less to thoroughly test for health issues. and always always always trust your gut with your fur babies.
