My wife and I made a quick trip to Abilene last week. We decided to eat at a place we haven't prior. We decided on BAR-B-QUE but with the condition that it is on our way home. My wife read a couple of reviews and chose Bar-B-Que Barn in Buffalo Gap, Texas. Great little town!! Great BAR-B-QUE!!!! The brisket is very tender, moist and the sauce is slightly tangy and just compliments the brisket, beans and potato salad!!! We loved it. My wife's Chopped beef sandwich was so moist and tender that it just crumbled so delightfully in her mouth!! Also, the sausage was very tender and great taste!!! The atmosphere is small home-town-Texas rustic with multiple original traditional memorabilia: All kinds of hats, both military and general businesses, with the dates and small messages of who's who and territorial allegiances. Multiple news headlines of local, state and US events and history. WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO MAKE TIME TO SPEND MORE TIME IN BUFFALO GAP AND EAT AT BAR-B-QUE BARN!!!!😃👍

My dad would take me here to hang out as a kid in the 90s, play shuffleboard and it looks exactly the same, I loved this place. Texas to a T.Be back someday to try the food for maybe the first time.

An out of the way old fashioned Texas hole in the wall bar & grill. It's been there forever and I love the place. I saw a single 1 star review on here for this place. Just consider the source of that review.

I came here with couple of co-workers. When I walked in I had a cup of water and was told I couldn't have it so I had to take it back to the vehicle. Not a problem.The young man who our order was very polite. As well as the man who was the pit master. The other man, who told me to take my water out, well he tired to be nice but I could tell he had a problem with me being there from the jump.I didn't order much seeing as to how I am doing my best to cut meat out of my diet. I ordered the coleslaw and a bowl of beans. Both were very good. The coleslaw was not at all vingery as to how most are. It was more sweet but not too sweet. Just the right amount of sweet.Now most bbq establishments I've been too did not have the best beans. Mediocore at best. At least to me. And I am an expert on beans. But this establishment has some truly amazing beans. Not over or under cooked and had just a hint of sugar in them. They were seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend the beans here.Another thing I found unqiue about this place was that they offer FREE dessert. Who does that?! That day was a strawberry cake with sprinkles. Let me tell u, it was AWESOME! Very moist and just perfect!Will I go back? Probably not. Seeing as to how not very many people who look like me would be welcomed there. If u know what I mean. However, I wouldn't deter anyone from going and trying it out for themselves.

My wife and I went there last year based on a recommendation from my brother, who was stationed in Abilene in the 1990s. My wife and I LOVE barbecue, so we left VERY disappointed. The brisket looked and tasted like it had been baked in an oven and came smothered in sauce. The sausage seemed like it was store bought. The lady who served us was very nice, but she seemed a bit embarrassed to bring out our food. It felt like their business wasn’t doing well and they were forced to serve warmed up leftovers. Maybe our timing was off, since we got there in mid-afternoon, but that’s no excuse to sell bad barbecue. To their credit, it was a neat looking place with a lot of character. I imagine their drinks are better than their food. It’s a shame, too, because I really wanted to like the place.

We stopped in on our way to Lubbock. The staff are the best and the brisket sandwiches were awesome! I asked for a little fat on mine and it was perfect. They even noticed we had a dog and gave him a little taste of the brisket (he loved it too). I will be back again.

Very friendly, small town, all Texas. If you want an authentic, every day real Texas dining experience, go here. Bar and family sections, but everyone is respectful and well behaved. You can bring the kids and not be concerned.

We love this place! Has a special place in our life. Newly married and moved to Ovalo we found this place and they made us feel so welcome. Friday night date night we go back and forth on where to go and we always agree on the BBQ Barn. Wednesday night pool night is the funnest time for us. A great place to hang out and meet the locals who know everything you want to know. We love it and love the hospitality of the staff and owners. Thank you, BBQ Barn, for always giving us a second home! We love you all!

Y'all we couldn't have found a more awesome little gem then this! We are on vacation from Houston and wanted to drive through the gap. Everyone was SO friendly (staff and the locals) and the food was amazing. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

I used to love this place when it had the old staff before the pandemic. Have tried it twice in the last month including today. Have tried both chopped and sliced sandwiches. I didn't care for the chopped so today I tried the sliced. There was less meat on it than there used to be. It didnt fill me up. There was no bbq sauce on it that I could taste and some would have helped because it was very veryyyy dry. They used to give thick slices and now they are paper thin. It was awful. I will never go back here again. Trust me it used to be a lot better.

Friendly staff, gives a real home feeling. Oh, and the Brisket is awesome. Definitely a must have and worth the short drive out to Buffalo Gap. After a morning of visiting the Flea Market, this is my families first thought for lunch.

It was definately delicious!! The portions werent so great and well when I was given a can of soda and had to ask for ice.....but they staff were friendly and the food on point.
