We were in town exploring Boerne and drove past this pet shop. The sign is faded and the building is in need of paint. However, there was nothing that would have indicated what we found inside. There were SO many varieties of fish, snakes, lizard, birds and 3 Great Pyrenees shop dogs napping throughout the store. The owner was so helpful and knowledgeable. I am so glad we stopped!

This place has everything! You would not expect this kind of selection in a small town, but they can take care of just about all your pet needs. Cat, dog, small mammal, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish both fresh water and salt. You name it. All of the animals seem alert and healthy. The owner obviously loves animals and knows his stuff.

Great Store!Pros: Staff is very knowledgeable about the stuff they sell so they can give me answers to my questions right of the top of their head. Gigantic selection of reptile and aquatic animals and equipment.Decent pricing. Very local.Cons: Store is pretty dirty but that isn't to big of a deal because all of their equipment is very organized. Marketing needs improvement, their website doesn't give any information except the stores hours and their phone number .

Been going here since I was a kid (20+ years). I trust them 100% for my pets needs and they can always order what the big box stores have if you don't feel like going to San Antonio. They are super knowledgeable about their animal care and products they aren't just there for the paycheck. They helped save my fish from an ich outbreak ( some of the happy survivors pictured).Plus who doesn't want to step over huge fluffy marshmallow dogs in a pet store?!

Love this pet store. The dogs walking around are like the most gentle and kind polar bears laying around. So welcoming, love the small town feel. My daughter bought her pet snake there and we make the drive there faithfully for her live fuzzies. 🐁 they are the only pet store that has them, everywhere else only offers frozen fuzzies 🐁 . Best pet store ever!!!

Although I am not a Boerne resident I was there for work reasons and found a newborn kitten litter. I looked at other places for kitten formula and most places were out. Red Crest placed me on a brief hold and actually went to check their stock, they had kitten formula and bottles in stock.When we arrived at the store I could tell it was a local place and people were super friendly. I was trying to figure out the feeding amount for the kittens but needed to weigh them, they allowed me to use their scale and I was able to feel more at ease knowing I had most of the supplies needed.The vet said the kittens may be too young to make it on their own but thanks to the care, patience, and help from the people at Red Crest I was able to get the items needed to give these little guys their best chance.Oftentimes as consumers, we look for the lowest price or the convenience of delivery when making our purchases, Red Crest is the type of place I hope continues to exist by being supported locally. Thank y'all!

I love Red Crest. Hayden is so knowledgeable about fish, and freely shares her knowledge. Although it is about an hour drive from us, when we are beginning to stock our large fish tank, we will go see Hayden for all of our needs!

I had a really great experience here today. A kind woman (I didn't catch her name) helped me and my son pick out some shrimp, live plants, and a fish to add to our tank. She was very knowledgeable and helpful, even answering questions for my *very* talkative and curious 4 year old. We will absolutely return

I have done business with Peyton for years. He is knowledgeable across the board on all animals/reptiles/fish. Good people like Peyton are hard to find. Love everything about Redcrest.

Very friendly people who work there. Very helpful. They had guinea pigs, fish, frogs, snakes, hamsters and bunnies. The animals were reasonably priced. There are three dogs that just lounge around. They are friendly dogs. The only negative is that is was VERY hot in there. Very, very hot.

The owner is nice but the animals are not well cared for. Bought three dumbo rats and two of them died within the first 2 weeks. The remaining one is very skittish and non social. I’ve owned rats before and they were sweet and cuddly. It’s pretty clear that these animals are not being treated properly

Drove over 2 hours to get to this pet store. Smaller than I expected BUT, not a sick animal in the place. Had a nice variety of animals.All appeared very healthy and alert. The people working here were knowledgeable and weren't trying to push sales. Large selection of animal supplies. Makes the local chain store look weak in comparison. Wish it was closer but, will definitely visit again.

I always enjoy coming to Red Crest. They have a good selection of animals and foods. I have been able to find fish there that other stores tell me are “hard to get”. The only reason I didn’t give them a higher rating is comparing them to other pet stores that are alittle more up to date with their displays and layout.

I was with daughter killing time was not expecting much from the looks of the place but must say they have the best and biggest selection of fish, snakes and lizards of any pet store I may have ever been in. Also spiders and rodents. They sell top of line pet food as well not the usual "garbage" you see in the grocery let aisle

I stopped by to grab a few fish...this was my first time visiting this establishment. As my wife and I entered the store.....we had to step over this massive white dog, but no worries....he was quite friendly. We wandered thru the store and looked at all their critters. No pressure to buy anything, but when we were ready to pick out the fish we wanted, there was a young kid with curly hair that was both helpful and knowledgeable. Without a doubt, I will definitely be back. I'd much rather frequent a mom and pop store. 2 thumbs way up!!

My cousin and I decided to get into betta fish a few months ago and it’s been a blast. Red Crest deserves credit for the good experience. The staff is personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this business to anyone thinking about starting a fun hobby. Be warned however, we started with bettas and are currently looking into a salt water aquarium. It’s addicting

They have many interesting creatures and the service is great.. But i have been fighting ich (in my once very healthy aquarium) since the last time I bought freshwater fish there which was about 2 months ago. I have been a fish owner for as long as I can remember and I have never had this many problems with my aquarium.
