Good place to shop for groceries but to list a few issues for me is no meat market. You can buy meat prepackaged but not fresh cut meat at the Texas City store. They have a low selection. Why I'm not sure but it's a store that has more of the poor to middle class items. You can find MD2020 in Texas City but not the nicer League City store. They place products for the demographics of areas.

The 15 items or less is constantly busy with people who have a cart full. I understand the majority are Hispanic and may not be able to read English, but the cashier should send them to the other lines. I find this constantly. I know most of the employees are also Hispanic and should be able to communicate to them about the amount of items. I won’t use self checkout, because every time I do , my debit card gets compromised.

Sunday, i bought bad lunch meat again. HEB black forest ham in the 9 ounce tub. Even the 2 % gallon of milk smells not so well. Called them and the answer I received was only refund or replacement. So, no reimbursement for the 12 bucks of gasoline it will take for the trip. Long drive from countryside. Not happy. This seriously needs some type of upper management quality inspection.

Long checkout lines sour the experience. Whether the store is busy or not, expect long wait times. I will break down the contents of my cart and use self-checkout a couple of times (limit 10 items at self-checkout) just to get out of this store in a reasonable time frame. The persons who do the shopping for online orders? The ones who dance around filling up those white gridded carts? Possibly the most unaware and rude people in the entire store.If you shop at this store, you have no choice but to tolerate it. We try NOT to shop in Bay City, but when we have to...it's either HEB or Walmart.I don't live in Bay City, it's just the nearest city to commute to, so most of the time, we drive a few extra miles to avoid this store.Go to Lake Jackson and either of the aforementioned stores are refreshingly better! Not only is the Lake Jackson HEB stocked better, but the employees actually act like they are there to do work.I suppose they're lucky to get the folks that show up every day - let alone act like they care at all about their jobs.Don't even get me started on the pharmacy. Two days to get an antibiotic prescription filled. I'm pretty sure our doctor wanted us to begin taking our medicine on that same day. I could be wrong...

Bay City HEB pharmacy is activity conducting bad business. I called to have my prescription filled and was told by the pharmacy clerk, Liz, that the pharmacy manager, Candice, would get mad if my prescription was filled because she had already told other customers that they would have the prescription even though the other customers prescriptions weren’t due to be filled at this time.So, I was refused to have my prescription filled, even though HEB had it in stock, based on the “off chance” another customer wanted theirs filled, even though no one else had a validated prescription. One wonders if pharmacy workers, Liz and Candace, are holding prescriptions for their own benefit?

A typical HEB experience, although some locals with greater familiarity with other HEB stores suggest the lack of local grocery store competition means this store doesn't try as hard as it could. But it does have a wide range of good items available, and good produce and meat sections.My big gripe is when it comes to checking out. The self-checkouts have a ten item limit (and very small workspaces which makes it difficult to have more items anyway), and the lines for a cashier checkout are always long and slow. It is almost as though HEB doesn't want people to buy more than ten items at a time - how stupid is that???

Pleased the store is in Bay City and the staff have always been friendly. However, it’s unfortunate that Corporate has decided to install such a large self checkout section, while decreasing the number of checkers. We have no problem with self checkout, but do they really think they are saving money in the long term? Those self checkout areas still require checkers to assist customers.

I ordered through curbside so I could pick up and go since we were spending some time at the beach. I didn’t think I would need to go through the groceries before leaving, but I guess if this is my luck, I will be doing that from now on. The 2 meats I bought went out of date the day after purchasing (I picked up 8/2). I also purchased some little Debbie snacks and 2 of them went out of date 3 days later. Are you kidding? I was able to get a refund on the meat, but I didn’t discover the little debbies until today, so I feel it’s a waste of time and effort to even call now. I hate getting food that expires so quickly, and I’m frustrated there wasn’t a better system in place here to catch this sort of thing. Do better H‑E‑B.

The pkg of Pork Chops I got today was trash. As much as we are paying for food these days you want to push substandard meat on us. Nothing but bone and fat. Very disappointed. iI thought yall were better than that

This was the worst HEB I've ever been to.. Half the shelves were empty and half the stuff I could find at any other HEB was Non-existent. Management Do your major setups in your store after closing hours? And please clean your store. That place was disgusting.

Right now, the store is so confusing and frustrating. New freezers are being replaced. But I know it won't be long till all back to normal. Just have to be patient. I love HEBs and their brand! Won't stop me from always supporting this store.

This is prime spot in Bay City for groceries. I tend todo all my shopping very early because the place is a madhouse any other time. I will say though, they do have a very courteous and friendly staff and are quick to open registers when they see the need. This place is well managed, just wish it was bigger to accommodate the growth in our town.

Honestly, i love this store because of the sushi. I'll drive 30 minutes just to get a few trays of it here. It's all made fresh behind the counter by great chefs. All of it just looks so great! The store is also pretty large, and the checkout line is usually quick.

March 2023 Update: the very high standards upheld by the store continue to this day. These people are great, and the store is unbelievably well stocked.And, it should be noted, the people working there are very friendly and courteous.This HEB store is a truly wonderful place to shop, it is certainly the best place to find groceries here in Bay City. When I visited recently, the store was absolutely clean, and the staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful.This is truly a well-stocked store - it literally has everything you could possibly want. The bakery and meat sections are truly wonderful, and an exceptional variety of fresh products. The produce was outstanding.Thank you HEB for having such a wonderful store here in Bay city.

Way back in 2017, I was working in Van Vleck for 7 months. This was THE grocery store. It was my first time at HEB as it was my first stay in Texas for work, and honestly, it is at least part of the reason we moved to Texas (DFW metro). This store is fantastic, every time. Well stocked, helpful employees, and reasonably priced. I love how they put the coupons right by whatever it is the coupon is for, so we had guacamole and ceviche instead of just tacos, cuz why not, when they make it so easy to buy everything you need.This time we were passing through Bay City on our way from fishing in Galveston to Corpus Christi with our youth group from Church. We bought what we needed to have fish tacos for lunch with our fresh caught red snapper. In all, with the shopping, going to a place to cook and eat (LDS Church building a couple blocks away, where I attended while I was living there) cooking, and cleaning up, I think we were in Bay City for less than 90 minutes.5 stars, and no one got food poisoning from my cooking. All around win.

The HEB in Bay City is just great! I have only been there a few times since moving to Bay City, but every time I have visited, I have been impressed with everything, particularly their produce and deli/meats sections. Also, unlike their competitors, they always have plenty of lanes open and lots of cashiers and baggers. The employees are friendly and helpful, too! I just tried out their delivery service this morning, and it could not have been any better of an experience! My order was spot-on, and the communication from the store and the delivery driver was timely — I always knew the status of my delivery order. They were supposed to deliver between 9 to 11 am, and they delivered at 8:58am. You cannot ask for a better grocery store than this HEB in Bay City!!! To the team at HEB, I say WELL-DONE! You will have 100% of my grocery dollars!!!

3/23Significantly improved once the Biden scare theory and country controlled lock down was removed as fear factor.🤔 Thank the Joe Touchy Biden Demonicrates9/23 The store is looking good and getting lots of updated equipment and cooling units. Nice work👍1/24 most remodeling done and a easy shopping experience compared to last year. Clerks still don't know packing glass together without insulating them mdles things break. Got to return for two broken jars of salsa s packed together and broken after trip to homestead due to glass on glass pressure of packaging.🤔

This is by far the best store around to get everything you need for your home. From BBq to fresh seafood. I love there many options on fresh meats and they have the best bakery around as well. Love there beautiful plant section and they all so have fresh tortillas made fresh. As well a sushi. You can't go wrong by shopping here.
