I have had only positive experiences with my pets at South Park Animal Hospital. This hospital has been taking care of both my dog and cat for about a year and a half. The thoroughness provided by the vet techs and doctors, specifically Dr. East, has been exceptional every time, even with the added difficulty of my extra spicy kitty. The standard of medicine here is unmatched and I never feel like I am being pressured/guilted into services (which is very important to me at a vet); the staff has always presented me with various options for top notch care that take my financial constraints into account. The facility is clean and the front desk staff are always super friendly. I highly recommend!!

Dr. East was very helpful and quick at helping out my 8 year old Husky, Apollo. Apollo went from being normal and able to see, to running into things and looking confused. After running a few tests on him Dr. East was able to find out what was going on with him and quickly set a POA. She also took the time to send detailed emails and hop on a phone call to fully describe what was going on. Evie was also amazing at helping me find the medication my dog needed by calling different stores and calling in medication for me. What a Team Player Evie! Great vet office. I've been bringing my two senior cats here for 4 years, and they've the best office I've ever been to. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. They explain everything very well and upfront.

We had a wonder encounter with the doctor and staff. We were traveling through Austin and needed to see a veterinarian. We chose Southpark as it was close to where we were staying. Their online appointment app is very easy. When we got there, we were greeted by name. We were taken right away. After a brief time with the veterinary assistant, the doctor came in and spoke at length with us and answered all our questions. Because they require a deposit to secure your appointment, we did not have to pay anything additional. They send a detailed after visit summary the next day. I highly recommend South Park Animal Hospital.

Took my dachshund mix here for a back injury and everyone here was amazing! The front desk ladies were so nice and caring about my pup and Dr. Myers and Dr. Berkman had amazing bedside manner and answered all of my questions. This staff truly cares about their patients and it shows! I won’t be going anywhere else from now on.

Friendly staff, clean facilities and semi-fair pricing… Would definitely recommend but be ready to take out a second mortgage if you’ve got any complicated work to do for your pets. That goes for any vet these days though, so lovely place!

Heard about this place from a friend when I welcomed my new family member. Was the best recommendation! Love this place! It has always been a challenge with previous pets to go to the vet, but my lil guy loves coming here. They are so gentle with him and talk you through any concerns and issues going on with your (non-human) family member.The waiting area is a pretty intelligent set up as it separates where dogs and cats are welcomed so the comfort the animal is an obvisous top priority for this group.If I ever have questions, they are more than willing to help come to the best solution for my lil man.Highly recommend South Park Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a vet clinic in Austin.

We have been patients for more than 5 years. They always took great care of Indy and were conscious of her random fears and anxieties. She passed in February and the staff sent a beautiful card, very touching moment. Vet care is expensive but the staff make the experience worth it.And the care continues with Thrash'r as he ages and has more issues with every passing day.Thank you South Park.

My partner and I trust these folks with the lives and well being of our precious dogs. Since we moved to Austin, South Park has taken care of our beloved family members. While we began with Dr Liu who was very kind and very honest about the needs of our dogs, she has since left. We have been just as pleased with the vets and techs and staff that we’ve worked with since. Everyone is kind, empathetic and very helpful. They do a great job of explaining health needs and treatment options. We recently had one of our girls go in for a bigger surgery (CCL repair). They bring in a specialist for TPLO surgeries. It’s not a trivial surgery and includes a long recovery. Dr Shuman was the surgeon and provided and in depth overview week by week of the recovery process and needs. We’ve brought her home today and she is doing well. I was pleased that their estimate was higher than it actually cost - always a pleasant surprise.I am also a fan of their cat wing. The cats go into a separate area. It was great to see them expand and I really like the thoughtful approach that reduces stress for all the animals.Highly recommend this vet practice. Very communicative, great with questions, paper printouts are helpful for having something to review… especially if you do not go to the vet yourself with the pet.I want the best for my little family and South Park ensures they have great, healthy and happy lives.

Not great with traumatized rescue animals and very unorganized when it comes to planning our pet's care.We were originally referred to this vet by a friend, and we have been going here for years. One of our dogs has trauma and fears the vet, making her super reactive. Most of the time, the vets here put this back on you as the owner and offer no solutions from their end. If your dog has trauma, I would recommend finding a location that has certifications to work with these types of animals. My poor dog (and us) leave more traumatized than we arrive. They make no effort to get to know her, calm her, befriend her, or anything prior to dragging her back and forcing her to do things she is already afraid of. They then blame us because medicines don't calm her and there isn't anything we can do to control her reactiveness. This is how she is and you're either part of the solution or the problem. South Park OFTEN chooses to be part of the problem.Additionally, we don't live near this vet and I have asked them for years to help us plan out treatment in a way that reduces cost and visits. They always agree and rarely deliver. Using my last visit as an example, my other dog has a serious condition that requires medication. He has been on this medication with this vet for years. We were just there for his annual and they offered 'optional' bloodwork without explaining that it would be required for my dog to get refills. Today, he is almost out of NEEDED medicine and they're giving me trouble with his refills because they need a test I could have done while I was there. This is just one of many examples.Overall, if you have simple needs, this isn't a bad place, but otherwise, RUN THE OTHER WAY!I hope this helps someone.

I would not recommend this vet. We recently moved to the area and were looking for a new vet. We took our pup in for a routine exam and ended up leaving with a $400 bill. We didn't care about the initial $400 bill, it was the fact that when we came back for a routine follow up, they tried to charge an additional $250 for an exam on top of charging more for additional tests (which were not needed). When we had scheduled the follow up no one told us there would be any additional costs. This practice is greedy and I would not recommend. Will find somewhere else.

Southpark Animal hospital has the most knowledgeable, caring staff of any veterinarian I've taken my animals to. They text following up your animals appt, text checking on your pet and allow you to drop your pet off at 7am, if you're unable to get off work. When my dog went into liver failure following the administration of steroids for an ear infection, they did everything they could to save my pet and didnt mind my continuous texts with questions and concerns. They are always available for questions, respond to phone calls and texts promptly and show genuine concern for the animals in their care. I HIGHLY recommend them if you are looking for a vet.

Amazing staff and amazing service! My mom and friend had to take my cat of 18 years here & had to put her down. It was very hard for me because I was sitting at work and was not able to go with. My friend FT me and I was able to stay on FT while the doctor explained to me what was going on and made me feel like I was truly in the room. I can’t thank this vet enough for making it a little less hard and the process fairly smooth.Your staff and doctors are so greatly appreciated❤️

Dr. Copeland and the other vet techs (wish I knew their names) are very knowledgable, kind, and understanding and I can tell they really care about our fur baby. Once I'm back in Austin full-time this will be my preferred vet without a doubt.

Never go to a place that charges $80 deposit. Got stuck in horrible traffic and called to let them know I was going to be a couple mins late. tried to reschedule and they said that they wouldn't give me my money back. thieves with a con security deposit.You should be ashamed of yourself charging that high of a deposit, not even doctors offices charge that high of a deposit. Vet care is already expensive as it is.Don't go here spend your money somewhere else where they actually value customers and pets.You should tell your secretaries to be clear that the deposit is nonrefundable, even if you try to reschedule. This is literally theft.

I've been going to SPAH for almost a decade, and the staff knocks it out of the park every time.I had a dental cleaning appointment set up for my kitty on the day after the Great Treepocalypse Ice Storm of 2023. Due to the conditions, I was 3 hours late getting my kitty to his appointment, which they happily accommodated. Despite having signed off on allowing any necessary extractions, I got a call from Dr. Loke before she proceeded with an extraction to update me on the situation. She called again after his procedure to update me on my kitty and his procedure. I even got a call the next day from a vet tech asking how my cat was doing. They also communicate with their clients via text, which is super helpful, so you don't have to make a phone call every time.Also worth noting is that a few years ago, I had to put down my old kitty and the staff at SPAH was fantastic then too. They dimmed the lights in an exam room for us and provided my cat with a fuzzy blanket so we could say our goodbyes. The staff was all wonderful then too and gave us plenty of time and space to be with our kitty. They gave us a paw print from him, which was also a nice touch.10/10 service and care.

i’ve been taking my dog to south park for the past year. they are generally nice people who care about your pets. however, i’ve lost all trust in them after what they put my dog through. my 7-year-old frenchie has always been fairly healthy, but early in the year, she showed a lot of difficulty breathing. her regular vet had recommended a stenotic nares and a soft palate surgery, assuring me it was a common procedure for frenchies.setting up the appointment was easy and there weren’t many questions asked beforehand. in fact, dr. shuman didn’t call until my dog was under anesthesia. he recommended we perform both surgeries. when we went to pick her up, she was clearly in a lot of pain but the doctor said it was because she was under a handful of meds. he said my dog did well after the surgery and should easily recover at home within 1-2 weeks.this is when everything turned into a nightmare. when we got home, my dog refused eat or lay down and struggled to breathe. we rushed to the emergency vet around midnight. we found out she was developing pneumonia and had extra fluid in her stomach that had to be drained. she was kept at the ER for a total of 6 nights, costing us $7000+. i learned from the ER doctor that due to my frenchie’s age and her laryngeal collapse - she was not a good candidate for the surgery. it was high risk and it would of been best to monitor her at a practice that was 24/7. why didn’t south park educate us about any of this?the practice manager was apologetic and refunded the surgery that was performed. i’m grateful they were able to do that but it doesn’t undo the terrifying ordeal my dog went through. if you have a frenchie or short-snout dog, please consider going to a vet that specializes in them. they are too precious and deserves a vet that truly understands and cares for their wellbeing.

First time visit today & I cannot say enough great things about my experience & the entire staff! My cat Marlowe has been having some urinary issues, but today was constantly squatting trying to pee, and there was blood in her urine so I knew she had to see a Dr. I couldn't get into my regular Vet. A friend referred me here & because it was urgent they fit her in!!! It is so hard to get appointments nowadays!The receptionist, Sinista, was wonderful & she was trying to help calm me down which was so helpful. I was able to bring Marlowe right in (they have separate entrances for Cats & Dogs which was awesome!) The Vet Tech, Alex, was equally as wonderful, calming & reassuring that they would take good care of her. She told me on the spot which tests they were going to run & an estimated total. I had to leave her there and she told me Dr. Rush would be seeing her & she would call me if they needed to run more tests & also with the results so I could pick her up.Dr. Rush called me with an update & she was so soothing, listened to me, and said she would find out what's going on today. Excellent Dr. & she was so knowledgeable & compassionate. Marlowe had a UTI, and she put her on an antibiotic and gave her some pain meds. She also gave me some other recommendations as Marlowe is older & has been going through some stress. She gave me information on a few urinary issues that could be causing this as well. We'll be doing a follow up appointment in a week for a recheck & she told me if I need anything at all to call her. The gals who checked me out were so sweet & everyone loved Marlowe!Thank you to everyone who saw us today!I highly recommend this clinic!

From my personal experience I had very caring and professional staff many times at this vet. Easy/fast to access customer service for any questions and to make any appointments. I appreciated all the help and compassion for my sick pet and I and how they handle their appointments is more than just doing their job. Never feels like a rushed service, clean and organized. Strongly recommend this place and their staff.
