Dear Goodwill Management,I am writing to share my recent experience at the Goodwill Outlet in Austin, Texas, which stands in stark contrast to the positive encounters I have had at other Goodwill locations across North and South Carolina, as well as Florida. My visit to the Austin outlet initially seemed promising, given the abundant selection and the quality items I found. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by the behavior of the staff on duty that day.The employees exhibited an alarming level of discourtesy and aggression towards customers, which included yelling, and in my case, an unwarranted invasion of privacy. While I was taking a moment to rest, I noticed employees surreptitiously observing me from over my shoulder, scrutinizing the content I was viewing on my phone. They then confronted me in a highly aggressive manner, insisting I delete a photo I had taken. They remained by my side until I complied with their demand. Although I adhered to their instructions, the photo had already been backed up to my cloud storage, rendering their abrasive approach unnecessary.I understand the importance of adhering to store policies, including those regarding photography and videography. However, I firmly believe that a simple, kindly delivered reminder of such policies would have been sufficient and far more appropriate. The use of rude and aggressive tactics was unwarranted and detracted significantly from my shopping experience.I hope this feedback is received in the spirit of constructive criticism, with the aim of improving the customer service provided at your outlets. It is my belief that fostering an environment of respect and courtesy will greatly enhance the shopping experience for all Goodwill patrons.I will add that we went to the North outlet the next day & the employees there were extremely nice & chill unlike the multiple staff at this location.

Great place for treasure hunting. If you’re not experienced at Goodwill Outlets…. then do research on other reviews, ask friends, or get an employee to guide you through. You don’t want to get in the way of the land rush when they bring out new bins. Wear gloves and be careful. That said, there’s some treasures here for a very low price (priced by weight). Great people watching. Huge amount of clothes, lots of books.

I normally like outlet stores where you dig through the bins, but this one is just overwhelmed by animals. Literally. All was well, quiet in the store, everyone minding their business, until they brought out TWO bins and everyone lost their mind. I got trampled on by a stampede of people flocking to the bins like cattle. I will never be coming back to this store.

Great stuff, but no carts! The resellers hog them and have them lined up on the wall all day, and the workers don’t say anything!!!**Edited to answer to their response: all the more reason to have a rule for 1 or 2 carts per person!! If you know there aren’t enough carts, why do y’all allow them to be lined up on the walls all day???

I was very , very , dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience at this particular location. The receptionist, Dee Thomas, was very unpleasant, unprofessional, and did not have the decency to even say " Good Morning", also the store manager for the warehouse dept. , Carlos Galvan deliberately lied to me on several occasions regarding me trying to find employment with Goodwill, Carlos was prejudice, racist, and bias against me for no apparent reason, and he was not professional enough to tell me that he didn't want to hire me, so he used Corey, another Goodwill employee, to lie and tell me that no positions were available at the Warehouse.

This location shows favouritism to resellers. Rather than making sure that all customers have shopping cart availability they allow the resellers to take and fill up shopping carts line them up along a backwall and do nothing about the fac that they have other customers in the building. This should not be allowed. One shopping cart per family is what it should be. There should not Is the shopping cart stacked along a wall full of merchandise. If these people really want the merchandise they should be purchasing it and taking it to their vehicle. By allowing the reseller to keep shopping carts you make them unavailable to others. You then have customers who much carry their items in their arms. This is not fair. The management of this location should stop this immediately. Stop allowing resellers to take over the store. I was highly disappointed in this location. The location in Hillsboro Oregon was way more organized. Books, we're kept separate as we're shoes and clothing. Glassware of handled better as well. Not being able to get a shopping cart was just the icing on the cake. Shame on management for not controlling the store better. Also there was no social distancing. When new bins are brought out the resellers rush them so you end up with 3 or more people at one bin. There should be one person per bin to be able to maintain social distancing. If rules are enforced then shopping is safer for all.

Updated review: Goodwill needs to do something to prevent the book hoarders. I understand it’s hot to scan barcodes of books to sell online. There is usually more than 1 person interested in that. Which is why Goodwill needs to make people play fair.Book hoarding is when Goodwill rolls out a fresh bin or bins of books and a person starts grabbing armfuls and throwing them into carts and boxes without even looking at them. This is to prevent other interested customers from seeing the books. They eventually take the books off to a corner somewhere and scan them to see what they are worth and end up putting a lot of the books back, books other people may have been interested in but never had a chance to see. So then allll those books get taken back to the back (bins only stay on the floor for so long and get traded out for new bins) when they could have been sold if more people had seen them. If people want to scan books they can stand there and go through the bins with their phone with everyone else. That way everyone has a chance to see. Today there was a father hoarding with his preteen daughter, they had 2 shopping carts and tubs and were hoarding as soon as the fresh bins were rolled out so they could scan. This is NOT okay and Goodwill needs to stop people from doing that!!Original review: Please, Goodwill, it is time to stop the cart hoarding. Make it stop. It’s wrong. It makes the place super crowded and gross. People can’t get their hands on a cart because they are all filled with stuff, parked along the perimeter. End this practice!!

We went here after work with my boyfriend up from the airport and it was crazy. I've been to lots of Goodwill outlets and this one was insane. People were camping out on the sides and staying there all day to get all the good stuff for each time they bring the bins out. When they brought all the new bins out everyone was like on top of the bins and it was so loud you could hear like so much glass getting broken stuff. It was crazy. I got a cute pair of white overalls and we got some other stuff but I can't remember what now. We sell a probably pirated copy VHS of honey I shrunk the kids so that was funny. There was a lot of broken glass and some of the bins which worries me about kids or people who aren't paying attention reaching their hands and looking for goods and coming out with one less finger. Cool place though, personally I love Goodwill outlets so my favorite place to shop and get clothes because it is so cheap.

This is the worst store I've ever been to. No carts and no organization whatsoever. Everything just thrown together in giant dirty bins. I'll gladly pay a bit more at a store with carts and some organization.

Today I heard a tall employee with dreadlocks tell someone over the phone exactly what row and bin a bunch of vintage Levi's would be located. Someone walked in and grabbed them knowing exactly where to go and paid for the items and left. The employee followed shortly after presumably to be paid for the tip. It feels really unfair that people can pay to get an advantage over people who are going through donations that goodwill got for free. Does the money go to the store or is the employee doing this for his own gain? Is this the type of thing goodwill encourages employees to do to supplement low income? Very upset customer.

Overall, it was good.I found some GREAT stuff. Most of the experience was average. But keep in mind, I arrived as soon as they opened and it was a small crowd.Bathrooms were clean. As far as the carts….I was able to get a cart. BUT I noticed this HUGE outlet has MUCH LESS carts than another one I go to. It should have MUCH MORE carts because of how many people shop here. And I wonder why they keep allowing people to hoard carts? I’ve seen this complaint several times and I saw it myself but management keeps allowing it. Hmmmmm. What’s going on there?Staff was a little on the rude side but whatever. If they want to go through life that way, that’s their choice. How sad.I had my share of jobs I didn’t like but in my day, we were trained to be polite to every customer. That’s rare nowadays EVERYWHERE.But like I said, overall it was good.

I had read the reviews about this place so knew about the cart hoarding and rummaging but I was not prepared for the bum rush to the new bins. It was wild! I was with my 4yo daughter and we just avoided the area where they set out new stuff. They all line up and just run in, grab a bunch of things and then sort them off to the side. No one was rude or pushed us out of the way, but they're definitely on a mission so be conscious of that. If you're not looking for anything in particular, I would say this was a fun experience. Very loosely organized, a lot of broken items to sift through, (be careful of glass!), But we found a lot of great books and brand name clothes. Everyone I interacted with was super friendly, can't wait to go back!

Go shop at bargain bins. Their clothes and stuff are new and affordable. Goodwill is way over priced and greedy.

This is the first time I come in here and was disrespectful not by the staff but by the manager. I was in line and customer behind me was speaking in Spanish firstly saying racial slurs to my boyfriend thinking I didn’t know Spanish. I spoke up and said please back up and give us some personal space. They were literally standing behind us an inch away. The lady kept being disrespectful and said I’m not moving. My bf moved the cart because it was literally touching his back and they wouldn’t move. Again, she spoke in Spanish and was being racist. I don’t take that. The manager came out asked what happened. I told him they weren’t giving us personal space and they need to follow COVID guidelines. He proceeded to say COVID isn’t real. So you’re not taking safety procedures? but you guys provide mask and hand sanitizer right? This goodwill should be reported due to not following the 6 feet rule. The lady was close enough to feel her breath.

Ugh, this used to be a great place to shop but it’s impossible to get a basket now. People come early and take 4-6 baskets and sit with them all day. There should be a limit on how many baskets each person is allowed or they need to invest in more baskets. There is no way to spend money if you can’t shop. They are losing money from shoppers that actually want to purchase the items in their cart. No basket, no money spent.

MANAGER and Cashier took an item from me at check out and said that wasn't suppose to be in the bins. Extremely unprofessional for a manager to do so.. OBVIOUSLY KEEPING IT FOR THEMSELVES. They make no attempt to clear any computers from bins, but if you find something nice they wont sell it to you.. there are plenty of laptops and desktop towers in the bins. There are no signs of said policy's.

There are rules. Be sure to ask about the stores rules. I went and was not informed not to pick from certain bins because they were off limits until the entire row is filled with bins. I went for the first time on a Thursday afternoon. It felt like I was in a third world country they way the people were running to the bins and trying to get as much clothes as they could at one time ( which was actually another rule. You are not allowed to pick up things in a bundle all at once). People were camping out there and had multiple buggies stored away in the middle of the store and family watching over it. Over all it was a cool experience. Be sure to bring gloves for sifting through the goods. Also, they have a food stand in the store and benches if you get hungry. Everything is weighed by the pound. $1.49/lb and if you get something less than a pound you will most likely pay 0.88 for it. Lots of great stuff there, just have to have the patience and time to get it.

I accidentally found this place and got some cool stuff but as a first timer, I didn’t know that there are entire FAMILIES that will run you over and scatter to the bins like roaches. I also found some items in a cart but it turned out to be someone’s stuff and the guy got all mad and in my face about it but nowhere does it say that the 30 carts lined up along the sides are items that are taken already they really need to get that under control

People will hoard EMPTY carts. I get if they want to hoard full ones but I got into a heated arugument with someone when I tried to take his empty cart he was 10 ft away from backed up on the wall. This should not be allowed. Also people will run in there, this isn’t a very safe place. I would not go again especially not by myself. Come here if you want a friendly reminder of how greedy society is. The only reason why I came here was to buy stuff for my classroom, but probably won’t be returning. Is there someone I can contact to tell them this?

Recently checked south location out and was very disappointed. Not only were other shoppers rude to my wife. When I mentioned it to short bowling ball manager he asked if we wanted to settle my wife’s issue outside like men. At that point we proceeded to try and pay and that is when he told us we had to leave. If they have ghetto managers I’m not surprised the employees and environment is as hectic as present.

It's big. It's loud. It's dirty. The patrons camp out all day and almost "party" together. There are Not enough carts and you have to push and shove to get around. Plus you better speak Spanish or you won't get any where. Totally crazy. You must get over 70 lbs of stuff before your price drops to 0.99 cents per lbs, otherwise it's $1.49.Good stuff, yes, if you can put up with the crazy.

I have to agree with previous posts about the cart situation. It seems like you shouldn’t be able to keep carts parked on the side. I did address this with staff. They told me to follow someone to their car and then ask them for the cart. Someone did this to me on one trip and I was a little thrown off as a woman having a man follow me to my car. This is a super popular location so some sort of solution about cart hoarding or occupying at the side of the store would be a good idea. Another option would be to just supply the store with another 50 carts. Thanks!

Hopefully they can find better store management because from what the other customers were saying it sounds like GRACIE is a terrible manager and very disrespectful. My wife and I have been coming here for at least 10 years and usually have good time. This past week was a legit nightmare. Started off with the half bald screaming “manager” they have to keep people in order. She is very rude and you can hear here talking trash about the other non Spanish speakers in Spanish and is very unprofessional. My wife speaks Spanish fluently and when she called my wife cabrona my wife corrected her in Spanish and told her to never disrespect her. Obviously, the weak bald headed power tripping chihuahua looking jefa told my wife she had to go and can not come back. Even though she was the one who started the issue by calling my wife out of her name.

I hope managers see this. The employees are out of control as they are all friends with the reseller family's. The reseller family take all the carts and horde them all day. Other cities they make it be one cart per adult and don't let you use all day. They let them push and shove and literally scoop all the items out of the bin without looking at the items so that no one else gets an items. Other location in Other cities make people toss back items who do this but the employees are all friends with families. It's getting worse. I have seen these families shove elbow and kicke people. Goodwill dosnt care who gets injured. Recently for books they like to slam down these plastic bins in front of the book bins and empty the bins. They do it in front of people and trip others. Happened to me and nearly bashed my head in. Employees do not care. This is a dangerous situation, with the regulars thinking they own the place. They need strong and better management.

I always find something good here--and a lot of the time, it's something new in original packaging. Avoid the weekends if you want to take your time and actually get a cart (though I haven't been able to get a cart in the past month or two). Yes of course things will be dirty, just wear gloves and be prepared to dig. This is the first place I go when I need a certain type of fabric for tablecloths/reupholstering/blankets/etc. You can also find tables and stools and small furniture in pretty good condition. Go for a browse and get creative!Things I've found: an 8x10 jute rug, a Free People dress, brand new tassel yellow pillow case & insert, butcher block cutting board, and still-wrapped IKEA shelves

I've been coming here for about five years. The selection has gotten worse, Goodwill is pulling the nicer items out of the bins before they make it to the floor, and selling them online. If you look hard enough you can find a nice deal. It's smart to bring gloves. Please don't take your cart down the new aisles when they open them up. For new aisles it's more courteous to take a box or bag than your whole cart. Best to leave kids at home.

Seems no matter what time of day you'll always be fighting a crowd. Items are very hit and miss with a lot of junk scattered in but the prices are VERY cheap, though I have yet to find any pants in my size (32x32). Have found all kinds of other cool items though including led light ropes and tool chests.
