Thank you for everything you do for our little brothers and sisters APA🐾We adopted 2 kittens, they were brought from Rio Grande under the care of Animal Control so I can only imagine the circumstances of their previous life (I wish I knew more). Thank you to the big soul ✨ that drove them here to Austin so we could find them and love them as family. Thank you to their foster Mama that took care of them before us. They are the sweetest girls and they already get along with their 2 older sisters. We're so happy we found them!

I recently adopted a dog from APA. I would like to share my experience with potential adopters. I recently lost my dog who lived with me for 15 years. To honor him I decided to foster a dog. I did not want to adopt a dog, but after I saw she treated my cat with a gentle manner even though she has not gotten over her fear of being a rescue dog, I had to adopt her. I never had a scared dog, so I reached out to the APA behavior team to get some advice. They had a home visit to diagnose my baby girl's symptoms and provide a customized training plan. My husband and I have a strong daily plan and have an upcoming site visit appointment for socialization assessment. Only cost I paid was the adoption fee, and I am getting the top tier support. I know the holiday season is coming up. If anything is thinking about adopting a fur family member please check APA cite. They will help you find a perfect match and support you to become confident fur parents.

Every single staff member that I’ve spoken to at Austin Pets Alive has been incredibly caring and supportive. You can tell they adore every single animal and want what’s best for them. They taught me a lot about misconceptions of cats with FeLV and FIV in the process of adopting my boy. I was so impressed. I love this place and the people who make it so special.

They set me up with a matchmaker to help me find the right dog. It was my first dog ever after I lost my cat of 17 years.The staff let me meet multiple dogs, talked about my fears in regards to adopting and helped me land on this amazing dog. They knew what my life was like and helped me get matched with a dog that would meet me where I was and wanted to be. I love this dog. I love the support I have around adopting her.I am so thankful for the support of this amazing organization.

Thanks for helping us find Lily Bean Kitty! She has been with us for 5 years now. The saying “animals pick their families” is certainly true in our case. I am adopting a dog from them at the moment and they have made the experience perfect. From helping the dog get warmed up to you through trainings to getting you all the supplies that you need for your new pet, APA will make 100% sure that you are either matched with the exact right dog or that the dog you pick stays with you in a happy manner.The dog I am adopting has a history of biting and is very defensive when meeting new people. To ensure that this dog finds a home with me, they have walked me through trainings to make sure I know exactly how to handle him. How to introduce him to new people, how to keep the smart dude entertained and happy, where to go for walks, and so much more. It's been wonderful.100% perfect place to get a dog.

It's hard work and a lot of money to run a shelter, especially when they give treatment to the sick/injured animals many other shelters would orange list and put down. Amazing to find a no kill shelter with a national network.

Lack of disclosure on ringworm from an unqualified member of the center has caused incredible stress and anxiety for our kitten. Shame on you all.We will not be returning there and will encourage others to use different adoption centers because of this experience.

Austin Pits Alive is more accurate. I've never seen so many pit bulls in one place. If this is how "no kill" shelters end up, maybe we need a different approach?

Went to this shelter dead set on a dog that was "good with kids" (my kids are 9 and 12). We signed in and was told it would be a 10-15 min wait. We waited over an hour to meet our "matchmaker." When we sat down with her, she informed us that the dog we came there for was not good for children...And instead offered us only one choice of a dog - a pitbull veiled as a "lab mix in which she admited had pitbull like tendencies"!!! I was very upset. They would not even let us try to meet with the dog we really wanted. Why are we not allowed to make the choice if we would be a good match with the dog or not?We ended up suggesting name after name of the dogs at the facility and finally found another dog that "could be with kids" but it had so many issues that we would not be allowed to get it until we went to "behavior training," but she was unclear how long that process would take... Ridiculous.

I attended Maddie's Canine Lifesaving Master Class here and I have to say how grateful I am for the opportunity to do so. APA is a fantastic organization that really puts the animals first and it was an absolute honor to take part in any part of their daily tasks.I learned an unspeakable amount about how we can more effectively save animal lives at our home shelter, and I am now armed with information to assist us in making changes for the betterment of our practices. I would highly recommend this course to anyone working in animal welfare so that you can make a difference too!Come in to see their large selection of available animals and take a forever friend home with you! Their dogs participate in the TOP dog and Canine Good Citizen programs, so if you're looking for a trained canine companion who will become a beloved part of your family, definitely pay them a visit.What they have done for us is absolutely amazing and I will recommend them to anyone, anywhere. Highly recommend!!
