This place is worse than Petco. At least at Petco I assume they are informed about fish keeping but they are very knowledgeable at Aquatek. They obviously just don't care about proper care of their bettas. I recommend Tiny aquatics. Here is a picture of a betta I bought from Aquatek because I felt bad for him. The second photo is one week after proper care. Do better.

I've been here many times with my son, getting fish, shrimp, snails, and supplies for his aquarium. The staff are always friendly and helpful, even when they're clearly very busy. They've answered countless of his questions directly and honestly, with answers from their own experience. I feel lucky to have Aquatek in town - this place is a gem!

This place is kinda over priced . Staff so and so . Bought Cleo (female betta) here was beat up from all the other female betta fishes and looked depressed and sad now she’s happy and fins are grown properly . She was my best purchase here so that’s a silver lining.

Will and I like to visit this store ever so often. Will is the fish person and has 2 tanks. He considers this store one of the best in Texas. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable. If you need any kind of supplies, they have it. They have a great variety of fresh and salt water fish. Their prices are comparable to the big box stores. If you are thinking about setting up a tank or you need help, this is the place.

We are novice with our fresh water system. As we learn and troubleshoot Aquatek is an amazing resource. Super knowledgeable staff. Amazing inventory. Plants and animals look healthy. Looks likes a ton to offer as far as salt water goes but that’s way beyond what I’m dabbling in to say for certain. We definitely enjoy looking at that area when we go in. Worth the drive.

Love visiting this store, the only problem is I always spend more than I plan to. Staff are always eager to help you and full of all the great advice and suggestions you could ever need. Enjoy looking at the display tanks for inspiration and rummaging through the containers of wood to find interesting pieces. Photo is my most recent setup following my last visit to the store.

I am getting back into the hobby and have a 20 gallon aquarium I needed to fill with fish. I went to petsmart first, and they were understaffed, so they weren't selling fish. This was close by and I saw it online and figured would stop in. I was immediately welcomed by the staff and as I looked they checked in a couple of times. When I was ready I was able to get help and recommendations as well as answers to any questions. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and isn't afraid to tell you no or if the idea you have may not work. That I can appreciate. They had a Black Friday sale going on as well. I will be back soon to get some live plants!

Amazing small business! This store has everything for your aquarium needs. They have common and rare fish, invertebrates (shrimp, lobsters and coral), aquatic plants, and even pre-assembled and aqua-scaped tanks. They have a great selection of food and nutrients, lighting, pumps, protein skimmers, and other tools for aquariums. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and does not attempt to sell you anything you don't need. Unlike the big chain pet stores, they don't ask pesky and patronizing questions about your aquariums or make assumptions about your skill level. They are polite and honest. Mark is particularly helpful.The only down side is the pricing of certain merchandise. Some live stock are more expensive compared to other fish shops locally. This is partially offset by the membership card that offers 10% off of items. The catch is that there is a fee of $25 for the card, but is worth it when making big purchases. All in all, this shop is at least worth a look. It is a straightforward, clean store with no pressure to buy. Check it out.

I just called Aquatek with questions on a sick fish that I purchased from a totally unrelated fish store. The place I got the fish from sold me a sick fish and they were very unhelpful in helping me figure out what to do, so I called Aquatek and the person who answered helped me so much. They literally stayed on the line with me for about 20 minutes answering my questions, they were so nice and helpful I could literally cry from the relief.They will forever have my business from now on.

I absolutely love Aquatek. I’ve spent literal thousands of dollars here, and I’ll continue to be back for plants or tank related items, but no longer for fish.Pros of aquatek are:Excellent plants. They always have great selection and they’re very healthy. I will definitely come back for any plants. They do almost always have snails if you care about that, which I don’t.Service is great. Always attentive and happy to help or give advice.Great aquariums and aquarium supplies. I’ve been very happy with the tanks and equipment I’ve gotten from them.Cons:The single con is the health of the fish they sell. The survival rate of some that I’ve gotten here has been just dismal despite drip acclimating, quarantining in a tank with aquarium salt, and proactively medicating when noticing issues, always testing my water before and after deaths, doing water changes. I got four platys from them, all dead within a week. I can’t even remember how many of my guppies from them have died, at least half of what I’ve bought, all within the first week. I got three Cory’s, two died. It’s very demoralizing and sad to spend a week picking dead fish out of my quarantine tank when I’ve paid extra for them and done so much to give them their best chance. On the upside, every one of the six mollies I’ve gotten there have survived. And I got six tetras and only one died. So it seems to be very hit or miss, some tanks have issues and some don’t. This is also with me avoiding any tanks with dead fish or fish that look like they have obvious issues, and there’s always a few of those.If you do decide to get fish here, hope you have better luck than I do. I’ll be trying some other places around town for that.

Love it here. I always learn a new factoid after talking with the employees and I love how my 20 gal. Has progressed! We have 2 tanks and will probably have many more in the future. Long story short, this is the place to visit if you are going to start a fish tank. Rather than other places, they want to make sure your fish live so they were really patient with me and my questions. Again, me and my fiance love it!

*Fish hobbyist* I should've taken pictures, but I was too busy in awe in the amount of freshwater tropical fish they had!I drove 30 minutes to check this place out, and I didn't regret it. They had some aqautic critters that even the Aquadome doesn't have. Which is an old school ATX lfs that's also a great visit.The employees were always ready to help and even asked me if I needed help or if I had any questions several times, lol! Which was great, because I did! I spent a long time looking at everything and deciding my new aqautic critter!It's the first time I saw an orange dwarf crayfish in a fish store! Researched it, and bought it!They have everything you need for fresh and salt water aquariums and every single thing else you might need. More than any other fish store I've been to, that's for sure! And I have been traveling to all of them in ATX!

I always get excellent advice here. I've been able to keep my 29g tank well balanced with plants, fish, snails, and cherry shrimp since coming here. I've never had any fish from them get sick.They have a great selection of fresh and salt water fish and equipment. Even if you don't have a tank it's a cool shop since they have several example tanks set up.I moved to Cedar Creek and I still make the hour drive to come here. So worth it.

The care and cleanliness of the shop is excellent. They have a HUGE variety and are extremely knowledgeable. Every week, new stock is posted to IG! The set up in the shop is very well done and staff are quick to help when you're done looking and ready to pick something out or get advice.
