We love this place. They care so much about all animals!! The staff is amazing, everyone we have had the pleasure of meeting. Our little girl, Michaela "Mikey", dog, loves it here. She rushes to the door to go in. She only gets nervous once we are in the exam room. Some random pics of Mikey after she broke her ulna. They took such great care of her. Thank you so much!!

I came here when my dog ate a corn cob and we needed him seen asap. When I tell you this is the best and most compassionate vet’s office I truly mean it. They got us in same day, did a thorough check on him and were able to get him to bring up all the cob pieces. The dr and staff explained everything to me very clearly and were so understanding. They also took my dogs personality into consideration and made lots of steps to make sure he was comfortable and under the least amount of stress possible. We will definitely be coming back for our other animals check ups and health needs. Thank you again Twin Lakes!-Sincerely,The Corn Cob Bandit

This clinic was amazing. I came in to bring my pet rat that was sick. He did xrays and was very caring and kind when he told me my pet rat had a large tumor, which was my suspicion. He prescribed pain medicine. Everyone there was so understanding.

I do not believe that Twin Lakes Pet & Bird Clinic is able to properly care for the small pets that they claim they are able to treat. We brought our new rescue rat in due to respiratory distress, a head tilt, and suspected mites. We were given antibiotics, told there was no mites, probably just a skin infection, and rushed out of the practice as fast as possible as I guess they were closing.Over the next few days, despite antibiotics, he began to deteriorate quickly. His head tilt worsened to the point he could no longer walk, eat, or drink. He began having fits, where he'd gasp with his mouth wide open, discharge pouring out of his nose. And he did in fact have mites- i watched as piles crawled through his fur. I brought him to another vet, who basically told me that the antibiotics they provided were only really effective for a skin infection, and that the antibiotics they provided left his respiratory infection and inner ear infection practically untreated. He was diagnosed with a rather severe case of lice, and now I have a colony of infested mice that will all require treatment.Due to being left untreated for so long, permanent damage to his inner ear had taken place and he was barely clinging to life due to his respiratory infection. His chances of even making it was a generous 10%, and even if he did survive, it was likely his head tilt was permanent and his quality of life would always be severely impacted. We made the difficult choice to let him go.Had he recieved quality care and correct antibiotics from the start, he likely would have recovered. But now, he's gone. On top of it all, I have a full blown infestation of my entire mouse colony and the rest of my rats due to failure to diagnose his obvious case of mites, despite me bringing it to their attention multiple times. On top of all that, the building was crusty and old- far from modern. Everything felt old-timey, and it appears the treatment was too.EDIT based on their response: I was told by another vet that all of their treatment and tests were an inefficient method of treatment, and I tend to believe this other veterinarian over Twin Lakes due to the fact that through further research I have learned the doctor who works with exotics at this location is NOT board-certified to work with exotics or avians. This other vet is. I also tend to believe this other veterinarian because on Twin Lake's care, Toll Road deteriorated extremely quickly. You can claim that "his test came back negative" but when your entire test process was sticking a single peace of scotch tape on his back and charging me $15 for it, saying he's mite free when he is crawling with them- I mean, seriously, guys! And if they geniunely believed that this antibiotic was efficient but Toll Road just wouldn't have pulled through, I should've been told this so I could make the decision to let him go. But then again, maybe that would've taken too long for them to rush us out before close....That being said, when I have a board-certified exotics vet practically laugh at the treatment my little guy recieved here for how ineffectient and incorrect it is, telling me that had Toll Road been given the correct course of antibiotics for his URI and inner ear infection, he would've pulled through- and that the mites are so obvious an amatuer should've spotted them- I cannot in good faith reccomend anyone visit this facility. Also the bird cage in the lobby is tiny and pathetic, and goes to show how "old school" this place's exotic care. I wouldn't use that cage on my conure and they've got a huge bird in it. I'm sure they're a great spot for dogs and cats, but NOT for exotics, and I would doubt for avians too.

We've used Twin Lakes Pet & Bird Clinic for over 16 1/2 years.Dr Bray and the entire staff took such good care of my little Otis.Everything was explained with patience, and when needed, sympathy. We received excellent care for our dog the entirety of his life. When his little body started to fail him Dr Bray walked us through all the help available and what would be the best course for our specific dog.Otis lived to almost 17 with the help of Dr.Bray's expertise. As Otis aged and moved beyond the realm of help Dr. Bray and his staff showed compassion and love for not only Otis but us as well. They went the extra mile to comfort us as we told our friend bye.Thank you, Dr. Bray and all the Staff,I sincerely appreciate all of you!

We had the WORST experience ever yesterday! Our Poor Ruby had a bumble foot which is very common in chickens. Dr. Head immediately recommended euthanizing her. I suggested several common bumble foot removal procedures which have worked for us in the past and she continuously suggested that we just "put her to sleep!!" She claimed that because "Ruby was so sick and unhealthy" she would die during any procedure! Ruby was perfectly healthy and otherwise fine!!! I took her to Aubrey and their doctors immediately took Ruby to the back and performed the surgery to remove her bumble and sent us home with meds. They also said she looked otherwise very healthy!! Dr. Head DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS!!!!

When our Mangrove snake was ill, we were reminded of this vet who once treated another snake we owned. Dr DeRusha is an excellent veterinarian who is well versed in the care of exotic reptiles; such as ours. Furthermore, Dr DeRusha also presented my reptile loving son with the book pictured below about medical diagnosis and procedures on reptiles. Because of Dr DeRusha our snake is well on the way to recovery. I would highly recommend this outstanding practice.

I am so grateful for this group of people! My family and I were feeling quite overwhelmed when our little boy, Oreo, suddenly had a seizure, we called and they compassionately advised us to go to the ER. On our way to the ER, in the car, he did pass away in my arms. We made a U-turn and went to twin lakes instead, even though, they would be closing soon, they quickly gave us a private room to confirm his passing on and allow us to grieve for a bit. They then gave us the option to get his paw print and let us know what we could do next. Thank you all again for being patient and allowing us to have the time.

I've been going here for years. It may not be a brand new facility, but the love and care your pet receives is what really matters.

Been going here for years. Great and honest vet. Very fair pricing. We recently had a small emergency with our dog. We took him to an emergency vet and they quotes us over $3000 for stitches, antibiotics, and pain meds. We ended up just taking the antibiotics and pains meds ($500) and taking our pupper here the next day. They told us the wound didn’t actually need stitches. $130 for all the meds and the visit.

My Parakeet "Sweet Pea" Had his first check up today with Dr. DeRusha and it was a great experience, very professional, nice family office vibe. The Dr. did an over all exam, explained and asked me what i wanted done before doing any kind of treatment. Dr. removed his leg band which i wanted removed, and the tech- Kinleigh and the Dr. Clipped his wings, beak&nail trim that i requested to have done, and he is doing very well and i can tell he feels a lot better! Will be back for a routine visit in 4 months and transferring my dog bear to this office. Front office staff didn't catch her name but she was super sweet and professional.

100% recommend them! I have been taking my chinchillas to Dr. Derusha for over a year now! He knows his stuff! I spent thousands at an ER who could not read his X-rays and tell me what was going on and they can send him to the exotics ER next them and to take him in the morning. Drove another hour again the next morning to Grapevine to take him and they refused to help him. Dr. Derusha is always pretty booked but for good reason. I decided to make an appointment the earliest I could which was about a week later. He instantly knew my chinchilla’s leg was not gonna survive. And he charges reasonable prices! It’s been over half a year since my chinchillas leg as been amputated but he’s back to being is energetic self. When I was scared to death that I was gonna lose my chinchilla because he looked so sickly and exhausted! Thank you so much Dr. Derusha! You are the only vet I trust with my exotic animals! And Ashe thanks you so very much!

I have been taking my 2 dogs here almost 2 years now and can't say enough good things about them. I first changed vets when my dog had a stroke and my vet in Frisco was too busy to see him. We could not get him an appt. for several days. Long story short...he almost lost his eye. I called Twin Lakes and they saw him immediately. They went above and beyond to save his eye. They are compassionate and always take our dogs health seriously. It is apparent they have a passion for what they do. The prices are also much better than most other vets in the area.

Love these people!!! Very friendly staff and the doctor wasn’t trying to up sell or prescribe useless things for our 2 dogs like other vets had in the past. They seem very understanding of our dogs conditions and have been easy to give treatment without unnecessary diagnosis. (2 amstaffs with chronic ear and yeast infection for over 4 years now) Price is a bit on the higher end, but should be expected with a small place like this.

The people are rude, need help in customer service experience and do not really care about your pet. I told them my pet was sick and needed emergency surgeryThey said they don't have any appointments. Understandable. I then asked to they recommend another in the areaThe lady said sorry no and didn't seemed concerned at all that my pet was in critical danger. She was in a rush to get off of the phone than to be empathetic to the needs of the animal.

Dr. Donald Bray and his Vet Tech, Christina, were AMAZING with my dog who has anxiety issues, and doesn't want anyone touching him. They actually took the time to try and put my dog at ease before the examination. My dog is 10.5 years old, and we are new to the area. Never in my dog's history have I experienced a vet clinic where the doctor, a tech, and everyone I encountered at the front desk were SO kind, professional, helpful, and on the ball! I feel so blessed that out of all of the vet clinics websites and reviews I researched, I decided to try this one. Outstanding Team here. Truly!

Took my pets for a much needed visit to a new vet, as we just moved not too long ago. The staff was incredibly helpful and very kind! The last vet did not do so well with my dog, so I was worried about how she would do today, but they were able to get her shots and do a check up with just some encouragement! They are amazing with her! And my cat seemed to be pretty satisfied too! I was blown away with the service. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area who is needing a vet.

Wonderful, kind staff. Dr. DeRusha and Michelle helped us out immensely today with our little baby. Unfortunately, we were not able to save him, but he was in good hands. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye, and helped us prepare for the after. I'll be bringing the rest of our babies here from now on. Thank you so much!
