Have stayed here 3-4 different times with motorcycle group. Rooms are renovated and very nice. Clean and well furnished, good TV selection, good mattresses and bathroom. Newly added rooms are excellent too. Would be nice to have full-time person at motel desk but he/she is there during core hours and easily accessible via phone during off-hours. Absolutely the best choice if staying in Sanderson area.

This is a great stop if you are headed to West Texas!! We stopped here for a night on our way to Big Bend National Park and it was the perfect place to rest before camping. I only wish we had longer to enjoy the backyard and pool area!! The renovations are very nice, but match the vintage motel theme, which is much appreciated, giving the place a true authentic feel. We spoke with the owner on our way out and he was friendly and kind. I will definitely be back to enjoy the final backyard renovations!!

We stayed here after our visit to Big Bend and it was absolutely a wonderful experience. To find a motel these days it is truly independently owned is a rarity, and Matthew loves his property so much and it shows in every aspect of it. So excited to see the finished product as he works on it more and more it is genuinely going to be an amazing space. The price was on point he was so kind, the rooms were clean and you just fell the heart and soul of everyone who works there. Matthew shared so much with us about his very interesting background, his love for the hospitality industry, and his dreams to just have a simple place that he lives out his dreams and visions in, was simply amazing. The house Kitty kept my kids Happy And entertained as did the fun shaded hammock area. The pool is going to be so cool and it is finished. Thanks for an amazing visit, making us feel welcome and sharing so much about Sanderson. Having the gas station across the street with food available very late at night was pivotal. Arriving so late, it was nice to be able to grab something to eat and anything else we'd need. Us Germans are excited to come back!

I was biking across the country in early Feb of 2024 and stopped by this hotel in Sanderson. The rooms were clean and had a nice somewhat "retro" feel to them with the room appliances. The room was very clean and comfortable. The shower had nice hot water and clean towels. The hotel was well located, near the local restaurants. When I showed up, and asked the owner where to go for food, he had the town's picture map behind him at the front desk and pointed out a few reccomendations. Also, I needed to do some laundry and he had no issues with letting me use his washer/dryer. All in all, it was a great experience!

!Being renovated! This 1960s motel is coming along nicely. Plans, according to staff, are an in-ground pool, and the bus will be a bar 🍸. We stayed in 118, where the space was nice, but the beds could be upgraded. We loved sitting outside in the swings listening to the windmill creak as it spun. If stopping in Sanderson, this is your place. Did I mention the three kids' swings in the courtyard? Pretty cool.

We accidentally left a sweater behind at the motel room, and the owner mailed it to our address in California within the same week without charge. We were on a long roadtrip and couldn’t turn back, so it was very helpful and so sweet of them! Definitely recommend staying here.

This was a great place to stay near Big Bend National Park. Check in was fast and easy, and the rooms were clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a small laundromat just down the street (I believe it was called Two Lobos), which was really helpful. This was definitely worth the price, and if we ever come back to Big Bend, we will plan on staying here again.

We stayed here on the way back from Big Bend and had high expectations based on their other Google reviews and photos on social media. All I can say is Bait and Switch. Our bed was uncomfortable, the showers backed up, there was horrible lighting, a TV that did not work. My friends bathroom was disgusting, with a tub from 1974 and ring around the toilet. I just resent the oversell on Instagram which somehow made no mention of the truck stop and train directly across the interstate. I recommend you skip this place and get a lovely sandwich at Ferguson Motors, which is a really great local establishment.Safety: Location on interstate with a truck stop. Flimsy locks.

We had a nice night at this motel.. Customer service was great. The people are super nice as well. Sanderson is a small little town, very nice to Stay the night and get up and finish your traveling for the next day. The rooms were very clean, with clean towels and a pink retro bathroom. We even had a bonus, a Little patio with a cowboy hot tub and a table to eat. It was late at night when we got there but it was still nice. I'm giving them 5 stars. The only negative thing I have to say. Do wish they had coffee pots in their room 😊

We very much like this motel. Enjoy the reto feel. Very fair price.Room was clean and quiet. Staff helpful and friendly.I loved the motel magazine, which gives history of motel and owners. I'm always curious about history of older non-chain motels. We brought food, can't rely on nearby restaurants, however The Ranch House was open, very good food.I would have liked a coffee maker in room, not a deal-breaker though.

I enjoyed my stay here. The owner was kind enough to let me arrive at 930 on a Friday night.Loved the neon light out the front and the perfectly restored rooms that still had some features of years gone by.Recommend staying here if life takes you out this way but the only eating option around is the gas station across the road so you may want to bring your own food. There is a fridge and microwave in the room. Will stay here again when I come back to do the Big Bend.

I gave five because they are very nice welcoming, and the rooms have such a charm to them. You get the old charm of a roadside motel from decades ago outside, with many upgrades inside the rooms. The grounds are comfortably groomed with ample area to walk your pet, yes they are pet friendly. The room has a small retro mini fridge and matching microwave, updated mini split AC, newly remodeled room and bathroom yet still has some of the antique tiles, so cute! I will definitely return here when I come thru again!

One of the best motels I’ve ever stayed in. They were accommodating of the fact I came in on the train, and was coming in after midnight. They had a wonderful magazine describing their story, Sanderson’s history, and what to do. Beds were very comfy and traffic noise was minimal.

Where do I start? Thank you for being gracious & generous hosts during my stay. The room was tidy with a comfy bed & streaming services to pass the evening watching my favorite shows. I had the best time ever. The Desert Air is a true gem in West Texas. Also thanks for recommending the Ferguson Coffeeshop for a tasty cup of espresso. Can’t wait to come back for a longer stay!

Spending the night on our way to Big Bend, so we arrive there with plenty of daylight. The room was clean, smelled good and plenty of hot water for showering. You can tell the owners are working hard to make this motel an updated version of a blast from the past. The man managing the office was pleasant & we enjoyed our stay.

Nice small motel in Sanderson to stay - quality is definitely better than the average motel. They have microwaves, a fridge, and plenty of parking. The rooms aren't that soundproof, if you pay attention you can hear conversations of people in adjacent rooms. The showers are good, hot water comes quickly. Beds are comfy. There isn't any breakfast, but the gas station right across the street has breakfast starting at 6am.

Great service. Simple motel.Four people stayed in rooms 16 and 17. Old rooms with some updates.Shower water got warm but not hot. Sink water was hot.Don't rely on restaurants. But motel is conveniently located across the street from a gas station with a Laredo taco. The gas station was open before 6:00 am. Good coffee (at least that morning).Sanderson is beautifully surrounded by hills of Sanderson Canyon. Probably prettiest town in Texas.

Returning from a Big Bend trip, we stopped in Sanderson for the night at the Desert Air Motel. It had the feel of a vintage motel from the 60’s, but it had been recently updated with new paint, floors, etc. The beds were extremely comfortable and we loved the Big Bend and West Texas photography as well as the new vintage-style appliances. But the real highlight was the huge walk-in showers! A handheld sprayer AND a rainwater shower head and we were in heaven, especially after several days in the Chisos Mountains.Grabbed a latte from Ferguson Motor Company before leaving town, but didn’t have time to see the pistol-packing waitresses at the Ranch House (next time maybe!). We were only in town briefly, but would love to return and would absolutely stay here again on future trips to Big Bend and West Texas.
