Friendly staff. The only reason for my 4 stars is I asked if they can order something for me. I waited a week to hear from them and they never notified me so I ordered the item. 2 weeks later they let me know they got it in. Communication is not their strong suit.

Bought some chicks to add to our own hatch and bought starter at the same time.Turns out the starter we bought was molded and we ended up losing 7 of the 20 we bought and 3 of our own.They refunded the bag and gave us the ten chicks we said we lost.Love this place.

This is by far the best spot for dog food. Also a great selection of equine and tack accessories. Not the standard feed store, as it sets the bar. They will take back your Victor dog food that has a salmonella recall. You must bring the food for a refund.

This feed store will spend plenty of time telling you what you would like to hear so that they could gain your business only to find out that they do not have a reliable source. They cannot fulfill the promises that they make as far as delivering products to you, and then all you will receive from the front end staff is lies and excuses, which just compound upon themselves when they get caught lying and management says they simply just don’t know what’s going on. It seems sad if the management doesn’t know what’s going on in their own store shelves are empty five days after trucks come in it’s still supposedly on a pallet outside. I would avoid doing business with them unless they are your last resort.

The staff at Steinhauser's have really stepped up and helped a ton of people during this winter storm hitting the area. Despite most everywhere else being closed they have been open and refilling propane for people who would be without heat without it. Despite the cold wind the manager was out himself refilling every tank he could, and despite almost running out he made arrangements to have the supplier come and refill the tank near closing time so he could be sure everyone waiting for propane would get their propane. My wife and I would be without heat tonight in our camper if it wasn't for him and his staff.

Looks really nice from the outside, sort of an old country store look. Inside is what you would expect from a farm store. The few things I looked at seemed to be a bit on the overpriced side. I'm giving two stars because 1) the two young women working there didn't quit talking long enough to see if we needed help, and 2) when one of them did look at me I said "hello" and there was no response. I was something like five feet away from her. Probably won't be going back.

What’s going on with the girl in front ? She seems to hate her job and has a horrible attitude towards costumers . We drove 40 minutes because they have a good hay but I will for sure Go to the tractor supply next time . Bussines are nothing without clients , please don’t forget to be nice . Bussines have the responsibility to have a great person in front , the person who deal with clients are representing you .

I purchased Diamond dog food, person didn’t know what or where it was and once I got it home and opened it had worms. I called and all they can tell me is bring it back. The bag was now open and being disabled I’m supposed to load it and take it back. Be careful, check before leaving!

I really don't know why I keep going back here to give these clowns another try, I have even complained to their upper management about how poor this store is before. from the Management down to the guys on the dock. Extremely poor customer service and rude people. I have been doing business with Steinhausers at three other locations for years and they do not operate like the Alvin brunch does. I called ahead today to verify they had what I needed in stock, they said they did, I showed up even paid for it, went to the loading and dock and nope they don't have it. When I discussed it with the manager she was so rude and just shrugged her shoulders and said this location does not carry what you need. But I said I called and you all said you had it and even sold it to me when I got here. She just shrugged her shoulders and said oh well they can refund you at the register. No apology, no offer to get it from another store delivered too me, no nothing just a "Oh well" She must be related to the Steinhauser family otherwise she would have been fired a long time ago.

I buy my cattle feed here and I absolutely love this place! The employees are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Great selection, clean store, and wonderful customer service. I have to drive 30mins because they carry more options for cattle feed than any other store near me but it's worth it.

Had a great experience with several of the employees this time. Went in to pick a couple things up and also to ask them to support a local seminar hosting with the extension office. They were very supportive in fact they may actually be one of the presenters next year. Really good and very supportive of the communityUpdate: This time didn't have a good experience. I have a pesticide license and have purchased restricted chemicals here before but they've always had problems with their computer system. Even though I can prove I'm legal to buy it takes forever and this time they weren't even able to sell it to me cuz somebody at the main office somewhere couldn't check a box. Really frustrated of wasting the time to go there and then the time while I was there for a sorry can't do it. I don't see how business that's been doing it as long as they have can't get it to where their computers work better. Hopefully they'll get the record straight soon.

What a great place! Hardware, feed, yard and farm needs. Outdoor furniture and decor is really well built. If you need chickens, ducks, pheasants, they are also available. The staff is friendly and helpful!

Strangely Facebook asked me to rate the place I work. So I of course think we are a great place. We love our customers and enjoy our jobs. As with any retail operation sometimes things go wrong but we try hard to minimize that and we work hard to make each customer have a pleasant experience. Have only been twice now. Both times were to assist someone in picking up feed and materials for their horses. Having been a lifelong patron of the steinhausers store in Hempstead and can see differences between the two stores related to customer service experience. Staff at the Hempstead location are always cordial and genuinely ready to help. This particular location had several associates more concerned with carrying on with personal conversations rather than helping with customers.
