Great stop for good BBQ. it's quaint and trucker friendly. I got the ribs on recommendation, I usually like to get 2 or 3 meat so I can try a little of everything. Ribs were great and sides were fantastic. Another spot on my list of good eatin' joints across the USA.Parking: Trucker friendly. Truck entrance is first dirt drive way that circles around so pull through parking.

I spent about a whole 10min in here, from my ordering process, to eating, to leaving. 10 minutes. Now, let me tell you why.I picked my option at the counter, the nice gentleman's inside, plated my order and asked about all the toppings and sauces I wanted. I went with their spicy BBQ on the side. ( I love everything spicy, the hotter it is, the tastier for me. ) I had a half chicken plate with green beans and sliced potatoes. The chicken (plain) without the sauce, was super juicy and tasty. WITH the sauce. My mind was BLOWN. Not only was it super full of flavor, but it was actually spicy. I loved every bite. My fork never met the table again. Which is why it only took me the remainder of my 10min to scarf my food down. This place is a must try! 🙌 staff was super friendly, the food was immaculate and the area was cute and super clean. 👌 I don't mind traveling the hour to come back here.

Delicious food. The brisket was amazing. Big pieces. Flavor delicious and they actually let you eat the “bark” and the fatty pieces. The pies were individually packaged. For small eaters they have a plate that is just the right size. The “Texas trash” was like a frito pie but with bbq meat and so delicious. Everything we ate was Absolutely delicious!!!!

Excellent food & service! I had the lean brisket with chicken and as my sides coleslaw & potato salad. Everything tasted so good! Definitely coming back. The place was extremely clean and the atmosphere made me feel I was in my grandmothers home.Visiting from McAllen, TX ☺️

This little spot off of I 35 looked popular with truckers, so I gave it a try. The food is available in a buffet style warmer so you can be served quickly. (This is NOT a buffet). I appreciated the fresh coffee they made for me.The BBQ was a little dry, but they have a big selection of sides to choose from. I recommend the pea salad.

Finally had time to make the trip down here. Always stopped at The Turkey Shop when I was growing up on the way to Waco. I arrived just before 7pm. When I went to order the lady behind the counter seemed very rude as I had technically never been here before and I didn’t know what I wanted. She then asked for here or to go. When I said I would like it for here the rude response was the dining room closes in 15 minutes. I was the only one in line and felt very rushed. The smoked turkey was good the spicy sauce was amazing. The sides were meh. If I ever end up in Abbot again I’ll give it another try. I made a trip down here from Dallas to dine here and was disappointed.

I had the two meat plates, and my wife had just enough bbq plate. The sauce is fantastic. Super moist brisket, tender chicken, the greens were cooked to perfection. We both liked the potato salad and the coleslaw. It's a line to order, then pay place, and you walk to the dining area and find a table. So there is no waitstaff, but it's a great place to eat. There is only a small tv on, but no music. It's such an aromatic smoke smell that really makes your mouth water for the food there. The people are polite, professional, and friendly. It's a great place to stop and eat. You will enjoy the variety of smoked meats.

I love that they have truck parking. Everything was pretty good. The greens were a little bland tho. I needed to add salt. The prices were also pretty reasonable compared to other BBQ restaurants. So that was nice. I will definitely be back when I'm traveling through the area and hungry. 😋👍I would have given them 5 stars but the truck entrance was in major disrepair. Quite a lot of potholes. 😔

Really enjoyed their brisket, and chicken platter.Baked potato was huge and still that gentleman on serving counter gave gud size serving for cheese and sour cream. They are generous with their quantity. Its a nice country side BBQ place to stop on highway.I Liked their interior, its simple and clean. We found this place today on our way back to Dallas from Austin and will definitely stop again in future ☺️.

Great BBQ, easy in/out. Quick, friendly service. Nice selection, and they want you to be happy with whatever you choose. If you like brisket lean, they can take care of you. If you'd rather have it moist, they got you. I love the jalapeno sausage, I buy it by the pound. I haven't had anything there that I didn't love. Chess cake was a pleasant surprise. Jalapeno beans were great. The sauces are very nice also. Plenty of truck parking, and if you're in a hurry just call ahead, they'll have you ready to go.

After a long drive I had to get something to eat. Saw the sign on HI 35 and decided to give it a try. Walked in and could see they had good selection of sides. At the meat counter you could see the meat cutter doing his work. I ordered the 2 meat plate (turkey and brisket). For sides got pinto beans with spicy jalapeños (they had regular also) and peach cobbler. The turkey was moist and tender and tasted delicious. The brisket was also super. The beans were cooked perfectly and had a spicy kick. The peach cobbler was a nice to end the meal. I have to say this is really good food and the prices were good also. Will definitely come back when passing through!

Not your typical fantastic TX bbq place. This ain’t no Terry Blacks nor is it even close to that quality. but it is convenient right off the highway. Food is set up like your old fashioned high school cafeteria where it's already in the pan sitting there. I got the rib plate with 2 sides. Ribs were ok and the potato salad and Mac and Cheese were very bland. bbq sauce was meh. Clearly the folks giving 5 star reviews have never had real bbq before. Service was very friendly.

We love this restaurant! We found this place on a trip to Dallas and now we make sure to stop every time we pass by. I've been to barbeque places all over Texas and their brisket is right up there with Cooper's, without the high price tag, and I think their barbeque sauce is better! Folks that run the place are very nice and the place is large enough to accommodate dining in for many families, even with the new 6 feet apart restrictions. The building is older and not so fancy, but it is clean and the bathrooms are always clean and stocked.Four stars only because, to me, the sides are not at great, but where they are lacking in sides, they make up in homemade desserts. Give them a try, they are worth the drive.

As AWESOME as I remembered it to be!! Clean restaurant. Clean men's restroom. Clean outside. Friendly folks. But most importantly.OUTSTANDING FOOD!!Thank you.Note. Can't tip on your card so bring in some cash if you'd like to tip.Parking: If you drive a semi, they'll let you stay as long as you aren't costing them business. Understandably so.I understand this and appreciate it also. Hopefully everyone does and doesn't mess it up for those of us that understands business.

Update 11-4-2021: Don't eat the Potato salad today! It tasted of Joy detergent! Yuck! They must have not washed the dishes good enough! It happens when the water is soft like it is out here. Today's meal was horrible! The bread was old too! -2 stars for today! Got the Texas Trash today. The only difference between it and the fully loaded brisket Baked Potato is the trash uses Frittos instead of Potato. I fully believe the Potato is much better and more filling. I'm going to stay away from the potato salad for a few months.3 weeks ago:Total of $18.30 for what you see in the picture (3 meat pulled pork plate, baked beans, potato salad, jalapeno peppers, lays chips, dr.pepper). Restrooms are very very old, but seem clean as old can be.The spicy sauce is okay, but isn't spicy enough for a metal stomach like mine. Most people come here and takeout their food home as I sat there to eat and watch. So, if you think this place is empty, it's because everyone is doing takeout. They have several bottled soft drinks (coke, diet coke, dr.pepper, diet dr. pepper, big red, water, root beer, root beer zero, cream soda...I don't remember anything else, but there was several others), foundation drinks, and I think Teas. There's no beer or alcohol! But then I didn't ask if they allow BYOB, because Texas is a BYOB state. At least you pay now and not surprised with a bill later! There's no waitresses.A pretty young blonde skinny girl was severing me today. She's direct and polite at the same time.I hope I helped you with all this information! I'll update it the next time I go.So far, been going at least once a week.
