I put down my deposit and waited (very impatiently) until I was finally called back to pick up my female pup. That was now over a year ago and my sweet Darla Jean is a healthy, happy, little 12lb bundle of energy and love. Could not be happier. The Masons were great to work with. If you have your heart set on having a pet Border Terrier, I would highly recommend Wartrace Borders.

Spent many great years with our Wartrace Heidi until her time came to pass through old age. Will be looking to get another Border in the next year or so.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE.I spoke with the owner David Mason on the phone, called references, sent in the down-payment and waited 4 months before getting an email notification of when my puppy would be ready for pick up. I called to discuss picking up a puppy. I also emailed requesting 3 photos (mother, father and litter) and asked about the border terrier ears. .... not too much to ask.Several photos were sent, but Mason quickly replied in an email that he would NOT sell me a dog. After several additional emails (with me being completely nice and respectful) and an undeserved apology from me, Mason quit responding and refused to sell me a puppy. This was a shock when I was willing to drive over 5 hours to pay him $1500 for a puppy. This process was a waste of time and Mason is not reliable. Spend your time and money with a different breeder, who is happy to discuss their puppies. If anyone wants additional information I would gladly provide it along with a copy of the email correspondence I had with Mason (find me on Facebook if needed). Border terriers are too hard to find to deal with an unpredictable and unreliable person like Mason. To find a good reputable breeder, try: Border Terrier Club of America On-Line Directory, Facebook inquiry on United States Border Terrier Owners page, etc. With some patience it IS possible to get a great border terrier and not deal with a run-around from Mason.James HarmsIllinois

I love my border terrier, Hardy, wouldn't give him up for any reason but... I picked him up from Wartrace in April 2017 & he was healthy and adorable. When he was fully grown we realized he is quite a bit bigger than a border terrier is supposed to be (I chose a border because of their smaller size). He looks exactly like he should but he is taller and weighs more than other borders I have seen. I have taken him to an official dog show and he was noticeably bigger than borders we saw there. My veterinarian is happy with his weight, ranges 23-25 pounds, but he is not the 15 lbs breed groups say he should be and he is not the small, easily carried dog I expected. I don't know if he is a "fluke" or "outlier" but I do absolutely love him. Just thought future owners ought to know.

My Sherman is 15 years and a few months. He's the best dog ever. No health issues ever.
