Not sure if it’s open any more? Went during posted business hours and locked up tighter than a drum. Hours posted on door too. Drove 2 hours out of my way to see it.

This once fine sutler used to be very reliable if high priced, but they have been circling the drain lately. Orders take forever, even the smallest items. The phone is never answered by a person, e-mail inquires go ignored. I can't recommend them, indeed theyshould be avoided.

Great place as long as you don’t ask for a refund. I sent back a pair of sky blue trousers and for a week straight heard nothing from Blockade Runner. No confirmation, no clue as to when I’d be getting my money back, nothing at all. Still waiting on any type of response to one of the many emails I’ve sent. Would not recommend.

I am biased, as I've known the owners for nearly 25 years. That said, I really enjoy their store as it is a great place to pickup a lot of reproduction American Civil War items. Depending on your desired level of authenticity & your budget, this can be great place to start. Jerry reproduces many items exclusively, so Blockade Runner is the only place to find some unique & interesting stuff. The shop is well-off the beaten path, but if one is passing through the area, it is worth the little bit of extra driving. Be careful though, because it is a bit easy to drive-by & need to turnaround just down the road.

Low quality, high polyester wool, bad tailoring and bad service. I ordered a uniform in Cadet Grey, gave them my measurements and then had to call them multiple times to make sure they received the order. When I finally received this "custom" tailored jacket it fit like a big burlap bag. The waist was at least 10 inches bigger than my measurements, the cloth was at least 30% polyester and the stripes bore no resemblance to originals being too short, placed incorrectly and poorly stitched on. I asked to return it and the owner agreed. I returned it and then when I called to check on it the person working on it was never there. I finally spoke with the owner, told him that I wanted a refund due to the low quality material but that I'd be happy to pay the shipping. He cursed at me and said he'd refund my money. But he didn't. I had to file a grievance with my credit card company. If you're looking for a uniform from a company that's never read a book or visited a museum this is the place for you.

I have been buying just about everything they have for a mounted cavalry trooper since I first started reenacting with the 7th Tennessee cavalry, Co. D, since I first started in 1996! These people are the best of the best! If they have not got what you need, they will get it for you ! These are great people to do business with!

I love going to the Blockade Runner just for the atmosphere! I am a Civil War enthusiast and stepping in this store is like a step back in time. I have a dress I bought there several years ago made by their seamstress and I thoroughly enjoy every opportunity I get to wear it. This particular visit was to pick up a couple of kepis to use as Christmas gifts; they're very well made and authentic looking. Anything you want from hoop skirts and high button shoes to Sailor hats and canteens is there. It's well worth a visit even if just to be lost in time for awhile.

We went to purchase a new hoop for my wife. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection of period clothes for men and women. Plus a great selection of military uniforms and accouterments.

I bought a Replica (Non-Firing) 1853 Enfield Rifle online for about 200$ and this is my experience with it. The ramrod is fixed to the gun and the end of it comes off easily. The sights are not aligned and the rear sight was about to break off it was so loose. Then about 1 year later I picked it up and I was messing with the hammer, I pulled it back a couple of times and it flung off. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt because a friend of mine has had good experiences with the rest of their products.

While this is more of a store than a museum, it is still a must-see for Civil War enthusiasts. It does have a number of Civil War artifacts on display, it is filled with all sorts of reproduction clothing and gear for Civil War reenactors, as well as plenty of books about the Civil War.
