Best place to stay if you love the Smokies but not the chaos of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge! Rooms are nice and the staff are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Their complimentary breakfasts are a nice way to start your day, meet fellow travelers and just slowly wake up! We have stayed here several times and have always found the staff helpful and considerate. Definitely recommend.

I stay here every year. Sometimes with my husband, sometimes alone. I absolutely love this place! I am glad the Gatlinburg mob don't know about Townsend, it's so much more tranquil and peaceful than the other side. I appreciate the old fashioned aesthetic of the Highland Manor and LONG MAY IT LAST. I hate modernized rooms that feel sterile and cookie- cutter, and worst of all, when they "upgrade" their bathrooms and do away with bathtubs altogether! The dreaded oversized walk in shower! I like to relax in a nice hot bath after a long hike. HM is so welcoming and charming. Awesome mountain views. Close to Cades Cove, Foothills Parkway for the best sunset drives. The fridge and microwave are a huge benefit. The pool is a decent size and has very cool retro poolside furniture which I appreciate. Staff are courteous and friendly. The rooms are spotlessly cleanParking is a breeze. We'll be back in May and can't wait. To the management: please do not change your establishment too much in the name of modernization so that it loses it's charm. Some of us LOVE that cool 70s vibe, it's getting harder and harder to find. We appreciate you very much!

After staying in Gatlinburg for years, this was a breath of fresh air, literally. We stayed on the "quiet side" driving around most of our vacation and stayed two nights at Highland Manor. What a relaxing and quiet stay we had meeting wonderful staff and guests, as well as lots of other travellers and locals. Southern charm, well kept, clean & quiet. Comfortable bed, great view of the mountains from the window & balcony, heater/air conditioner worked extremely well compared to hotel rooms. Thank you Kimberly & Wanda for a wonderful experience and stay. We will be back!Sincerely,Janet & Todd Hall

I've stayed here 3 times over the past 10 years. great location very convenient to the park and shopping and restaurants. Great friendly staff. House keeping was a bit hit and miss this time. kept throwing away the soap and not leaving a new one. had to hunt someone down twice to get replacements. The rooms are a bit hit and miss. My 1st two times, the rooms were fine. a bit dated with some minor updates to floors, but this last time, I was a bit grossed out at the bathroom in particular (rm 201). Black mold on the base of the bathtub and tile grout so old and dirty it was mostly black. Door was damaged. just in pretty bad shape. Sink didn't drain well, kept backing up. Water pressure in shower is great but the shower head needs to be replaced. no way to modulate the flow, it was like being blasted by a fire hose. Floors in the main room look like new laminate and generally the room was comfortable, decent bed. Just needs some work. I don't recall the last two rooms I stayed in being quite this bad in the bathroom. I really do like this place overall, I just hope they get around to updating the bathrooms, particularly the floors and fixtures. they are waaay past it.

The rooms are super clean. Staff is great. Cleaning crew where there everyday and very friendly. Price is also great. And location to cades cove is perfect..my only thought are a few more breakfast choices. Beds are clean and sleepable but could be alittle softer. Otherwise i will definitely be staying here again. And i am very picky on hotels ..five stars for meRooms: Clean comfyNearby activities: Clean river , cades cove, and tons of other shops and activitiesSafety: Very safe area. Lots of families walking aroundWalkability: Trails everywhere to walkFood & drinks: Near a great breakfast place ...

We recently had an excellent stay at a charming family-owned inn in Townsend, TN. The staff, including Wanda and Tim, were incredibly friendly and provided valuable recommendations. The inn was cozy, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. The blessed atmosphere, surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, offered a peaceful retreat. The entire staff was attentive and dedicated to ensuring our comfort. We highly recommend this inn for its warm hospitality and serene ambiance. We will definitely come here again!Safety: Safe and quiet.

Pleasant hotel in a great location close to park visitor's center. Rooms older but clean and well maintained.Breakfast minimal but gets ya' going. We requested a balcony room, which had lovely views of a quiet and relaxing open space with trees across the street.Wifi was not accessible in our area of the property.Lovely staff. Overall, would stay again.

Lovely old fashioned style motel. It is dated, but incredibly clean. Every staff member I met was friendly, and welcoming. I received a lot of information on the area, which was really great. I didn’t end up in a room with a mountain view, but I only needed to step outside to get one. The view from the front of the main building was my favourite. They offer a pool, which is unheated but refreshing and also very clean.Breakfast in the morning is small compared to other hotels/motels I’ve been to but still enough to fill you up :) usually set out boiled eggs, pastries, and cereal. There was also juice, milk, tea, & coffee.I will certainly be coming back :)

My husband I have stayed here a handful of times and each stay has been wonderful. The staff is friendly, the beds are comfy, and the rooms are always clean! The only suggestion I have is it could use just a bit of updating. Update the bathrooms/doors and remove all the carpet. But don’t update it too much! I always tell folks it reminds me of my grandparents’ home and that’s what makes it so special and cozy! :)

The Inn was quite nice but needed a bigger refrigerator and I would opt for a softer mattress. It was clean and well stocked. The office people were friendly. The pool looked great but we didn't swim. We didn't eat breakfast there but they did have a small assortment of breakfast items every morning at 8 AM. They have the best location - close to the tourist areas but far enough away to relax. I would stay there again.Nearby activities: Close to the Mountains and Cavern and so much more.

Of all the hotels I've stayed at this is without a doubt the best. Yes, it was built in 1982 but has been unbelievably well maintained. Our room was spotless, no bugs, no dust, nice and quiet. They had a Samsung Tv in the room as opposed to usual can't pronounce- never heard of tv. The pool was great, well taken care off. There are gazebos which are great for smokers with wonderful views of the mountains. The staff were warm and hospitable. It was kind of like staying at a friend's Mamaws for the weekend.

I enjoyed my stay at Highland Manor Inn. We were there for 4 nights. The front desk/office and housekeepers were very friendly. The housekeepers visited our room each day supplying fresh towels and making our bed. I enjoy being able to support local businesses. The area of Townsend is absolutely gorgeous. I would stay here again. The restaurant options are limited. I do not recommend the Pancake House across from Highland Manor, friendly server but the food wasn't to my liking (pancake too dense, grits too soupy). The Abby was awesome, great atmosphere, beautiful building and friendly people. We drove into Pigeon Forge, not a terrible drive.

Extremely clean. My daughter and I played with the basketball and hoop having an absolute blast. The kids even went in the pool which was nice. Pool is not heated but we are from Michigan and are use to cold waters. Staff was very friendly and there are restaurants right across the street so we didn't have to drive for food. I would highly recommend this place as the views are beautiful and it is so relaxing. Thank you staff for making our stay so wonderful.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here. The king bed was great and jacuzzi tub were excellent. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a small continental breakfast available with various breakfast breads, cereal, and hot coffee. The Highland Manor Inn is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg that it's relaxing but we were able to easily drive a 30ish minute drive into Gatlinburg to spend most of New Year's Eve around town.

Excellent stay. Our room was very, very clean. Way beyond what's typical. I went around on my last day looking for something that wasn't clean and struggled to find anything at all. Price is very good for this area and time of year. The motel is older - I see some people taking off points for this. Really? Did those people not research or look at pictures of the place before they stayed? Yes it's older, seems like late 80s or so, but the TV and other stuff is up too date. Everything works and is in expected shape. My bed was FIRM so be aware that yours may be too, but bedding and pillows were great. It took a night to acclimate to where I could sleep well.Front desk and staff seem really nice. House keeping was always spot on.Location may be a hit or miss depending on what you need. It's 30 minutes away from pigeon forge and Gatlinburg and pretty quiet. Not the best for if you want to be right in the middle of things but great if you want to be near all the action but not actually there.I will almost definitely be here again one day.

My mother has been bringing me and my sister here every summer for as long as I can remember. So so many memories with the Highland Manor. We never have anything to say against it. Rooms are always clean, house keepers and owner are very nice, and of course the views are wonderful. Plus it’s Townsend, “The Peaceful Side Of The Smokies.” And as our mother always says, “it’s our home away from home” lol. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a great stay in the smokies.

Very clean rooms, nice pool, playground and propane grills with picnic tables. Yes it is a little dated but cleaner than most newer hotels. Very friendly check in staff. We also loved how you parked right in front of your room. Gives peace of mind when driving an expensive car. Only negative was breakfast doesn't start till 8 and we had to leave at 7:30.

We had an excellent experience at Highland Manor Inn. I don't want to stay anywhere else next time we are in the area! Rooms were clean, even a fireplace (which we didn't use in July)! Sweet playground. My son loved the pool with diving board while my daughter loved the toddler pool. Upon our arrival home, I realized we left behind a tablet. I was so upset. I called the office & spoke to Cory. He said he had to go check on it. He called me back promptly & my tablet had been turned in! He told me he'd go to the post office the next day to ship it back to me. My tablet arrived a few days later in pristine condition. I am so thankful & grateful for amazing customer service & such kindness.

Not our first stay here, and when back in Townsend it will not be our last. The staff is very friendly and helphul, the tooms are nice sized, clean and comfortablem, the bed and pillows were comfortable also and the shower is great. I admit that the shower is my start to the day and it means a LOT to me, so great marks for that! Breakfast is welcomed and they do a pretty good job of providing some options.
