With the recent return of the exceptionally hateful and bitter manager this store has went right back down to rock bottom. I had gotten used to the new staffing and began shopping here again, then I walk in and see Cathy the manager. I gave her a shot tho, bad idea. No service, store is a wreck, parking lot stays trashed ,and heaven forbid you pay with cash. The corporate office should be ashamed.

Always friendly service and they offer a variety of household, personal items, etc. they also offer a variety of selections on food (cold, frozen, canned, boxed, bagged) at a fraction of the cost. This is my go-to place. If you want to skip the chaos offered at Walmart, I highly recommend this Dollar General where you’ll receive friendly service with a great shopping experience.

On vacation went to get marshmallows for the camp fire at this store. Got there at 1040 pm and they were closed! I called and this girl stated they were closed that she locked doors at 10 til. I said well its 15 til right now. She said well I've worked 50 hours and I want to go home and hung up!!!!

Great little store in Townsend! Has lots of staple items at a decent and fair price. Helps to have this store here so I don't have to drive all the way to Maryville to get groceries! This is a new store as well. It used to be located next to the Pizza But but they have moved down the road into their new building! Great customer service too! Recommend for getting some quick groceries!

This DG is one of the worst I have been in. The main register is cash only and the employees are offended if you ask to use it. They expect you to use a card and check yourself out. They don’t care how many are in line and have rude handwritten signs all over the store. The employees are more concerned with taking smoke breaks than actually working.

Really enjoyed this place. Not the most well stocked, but employees were working hard to refill the shelves. Was able to get propane here too! Prices were 100x better than the IGA.

Perhaps Cathy should look into different employment. Cathy was extremely rude. Talking about how she had worked 104 hours last week. Her DM is out of town this week, but when he gets back she's going to "have a conversation with him" because she "didn't sign up to work 104 hours a week." She was extremely rude. I purchased a product that turned out to not work for my needs. I attempted to return it 5 minutes after I purchased it. Cathy refused to process a return because the item had been opened. After I found the return policy, I sent a friend in to try again. She was rude in that interaction as well. Even after being shown the return policy, she was adamant that she wasn't going to process the return. Finally, she said she would do the return"this time". If you can't do the return, you can't do the return. So, she could've all along. It's just that she was unhappy with her work situation and was wanting to be hard to deal with. I just feel like someone needs to be aware that Cathy was outside smoking and left a line at the counter ready to check out with cash (which couldn't be done via self check out) and complaining the entire time.

Be a really good place to put a dollar general,I bought 15$ worth of stuff and had to listen to the manager talking to the clerk about buying diapers and her husband being in prison for 10 min before they took my money and got home with items missing..instead of dealing with that again I went to rockybranch and re bought the items they didn't put in my bag cause they were too distracted by their conversation that should have taken place private, the manager is the one that is holding that location back ,need to be lots of changes at the Townsend dollar general...I recommend going to Rocky branch dollar general if in townsend

I live within walking distance from this store and shop there several times during the week. They are usually extremely busy as the folks staying at the local campgrounds and normal tourist flow are picking up their supplies and snacks. They always have the items in stock that I go there for so replenishing their stock has never been an issue. The clerks are always friendly and are always asking did I find everything I needed. I hear some complaints about them needing more cashiers but that is the same thing I hear when shopping at every other store in Townsend.

Those pictures have got to be when the place frist opend.....there is sooo much trash though out the entire parking lot...there is trash on top of trash....then going into the store looks them same....you can't walk 3ft without tripping onn something onn the floor or inn the lanes...good luck seeing someone at the cash register ....I hate to say it but this place is a dump and has been for a while now....wont be back

The times we have been in this store it has always been clean and well stocked. The staffing is always an issue at all dollar generals, normally you have to wait a few minutes for a cashier to stop stocking to ring you up. Overall decent place to shop.

For a small town Dollar General they do well worth keeping things tourists might need in their visit to Townsend TN. Friendly staff, clean store and beautiful surroundings....just don't expect your phone to get service here...for some reason service is spotty at this location. Of course this is the mountains & an escape from all that so no worries.... The Best Western has great public WIFI if You require it

World worst place bought some flowers for Valentine's day when opened them had one stem with nothing and the others were about dead they did looked good while they were wrapped up so thank you Dollar General for running a Valentine's day need to close this store it's nasty and stuff piled up in the store parking lot is trashy some one needs to take pride in this store

I love our Dollar General Store in Townsend, TN. The mgr., Jess, cashiers, Tinker, Wanda & Kinsey. The stocker, Dean is always so helpful. I love the newer merchandise in the store... I wish they could stock after hours. Thank you, Robin Freeman, 215 Mountain Ave, Townsend, TN 37882.I've shopped there for about 12 years and I've seen a lot of employees come & go but, I think this is a great group!

This store has come a very long way from where it used to be, but effort has been made to how things are managed, staffed, etc. I know some people have made negative comments about this place. But you know what, if any of you can do anything better then how the folks are doing themself. May I suggest you apply for a job here and put your actions where your mouth is and prove it.. Everyone is human, not one person is better than another. Just be thankful we have a business in the area that everyone can benefit from.P.S. - I do not know any of the employees here personally, im just tired of negative remarks over rudeness and disrespect

Credit cards only very very rude Manger boxes everywhere unable to find anything Manger said she was the only employee for dollar general and would not help any one very disappointed with dollar general not to mention parking lot very dirty trash everywhere Townsend should have it closed down

Has a little of everything. Lots of Valentine's Day decor, cards and candy in stock right now and starting to get Spring decor in. Saw a few Himalayan salt lamps. Good selection of snack foods, some canned foods, and even a couple shelves of organic foods. Also carry school/ office supplies, toys and children's activities, cleaning supplies, a few automotive products, some clothing basics, home health products, household products and supplies, beauty and cosmetic products, greeting cards and some craft supplies. Not too busy today and got in and out quickly.

Same as hundreds of other Dollar General stores with a few exceptions: 1) the HATEFUL, unknowledgeable, untrained staff can always be counted on to NOT help you in any way, to make sure you know that you are bugging them by shopping there, & could not care less if you shopped there or not. 2) The store is ALWAYS in a state of disarray, unkempt, & shelves are poorly stocked despite the aisles being filled with stock to put out. 3) Calling the store is useless - I needed a small item to complete my nephew's bday gift so I called to ask what colors they had of this item. "We don't sell those." Was the immediate reply, then they just hung up the phone. I live about 1000 yards from the store, knew they sold what I was looking for, so I went to see for myself. Sure enough, there sits the item I was told they don't sell & in 3 colors. When I notified the "Manager" about the call I was told "The girl you talked to was getting off work in 15 minutes so she didn't have time to check, we're not allowed to get overtime." Of all the employees there the short lady in her 40's with the gapped teeth (who you will usually see outside smoking or doing whatever it is she does (drinking vodka) in her gray Jeep Renegade. There are very few places to shop in Townsend & this is the ONLY place that sells items like you might find in Target or Walmart so they have a lot of customers. My hopes are that the corporate offices see this honest review & will take action - they will double their income & the community will be properly served.

Worst dollar general I have ever stopped at. The place is a mess. Carts of boxes everywhere. Shelves not stocked. To be a tourist area they can do better. Worth the drive somewhere else.

Terrible experience. Store was a mess. Couldn't get down some of the isles due to so much overstock in the middle of the isles. Employees cussing out their bosses behind their backs. I won't be back. I don't know how they stay open.

I love dollar gen.. But this store is terrible.. Trash all over the parking lot and in front of store. Every isle packed with boxes you can get thru isles. It's November so i could excuse it if it was summer and busy season... Townsend is beautiful and I'd like to see more respect for our town... This looks like it belongs in a ghetto

Do not drop off anything being shipped via FedEx from this place … they are too stupid to make sure packages are actually picked up … dropped a package on a Monday and it did not ship out until Friday.. told employees missed it and forgot to give it to fedex … amazing!!!!

Always convenient to just stop by and pick up random things you didnt know you needed or wanted. The down side is that the cashiers sometimes have to stock or do inventory while on their shift so it may take a while for them to notice your ready to check out.

We went in for water shoes & were sure they would have them since they were right next to tubing attractions. They had no water shoes or flip flops. They were very understocked (probably due to Covid), but the employee was friendly.

This is a test store so be aware of the ever changing isles and products. The recently became the 2nd store in the area to offer Western Union. To use it you must visit WU's website and follow instructions on picking up cash.

About the moist inclusive one stop shoppe for last minute needs in Townsend. Overall okay, especially if you don't want to go to Pigeon Forge or Maryville for larger stores.
