Our second time visiting. We love riding with Davy Crockett! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. On our ride there was grandparents with their grandkids and they went above and beyond to make sure the kids knew what to do and that they had fun. Will definitely be back to ride again. My wife's horse was Copper and my horse was Rapunzel. Well worth a visit to Davy Crockett.

What an awesome find out here in the Smokey Mountains. I took my family here with both my boys (ages 11 and 8) here to ride with it being there first time ever. It was an amazing experience as a parent! We had Kelly for our guide and he talked with my youngest and helped coach him and my oldest from start to finish with care and control. Couldn’t have asked for someone to work better with my boys and help them get comfortable with riding. The youngest since has asked every day since to go back and ride “his horse Doc”. That’s how you know it was a win!

Wow!!! Davy Crockett riding stables is truly amazing!!! They treated my family like their family! Kelly was fantastic he was very patient and kind to my 7 year old niece and made her day! The staff is awesome! The horses are well kept, loved and trained!!! Thank you guys so much! It was my first time on a horse! And you guys made me feel like a pro!! My family and I will be returning!!

We had an amazing time at Davy Crockett Riding Stable. My wife and I took a 2 hour ride on Sampson and Thunder. The horses were amazing and our guide Rebekah was wonderful. I would highly recommend taking a ride if you're visiting the area. The woods and mountain scenery is breathtaking!

My husband and I took our 6 year old for a 30 minute trail ride today and had the BEST time! She had done a few pony rides before in a small ring with someone leading her on foot but had never been on a trail ride on a real horse. She was a tiny bit nervous so Kelly our trail guide hooked so a lead line and put her right behind him to make her feel secure, but also encourage her that she could do this and let her feel independent. We had an amazing ride through beautiful woods and she loved every second of it. We will absolutely ride with them again next time we are in town and will recommend them to all our guests at our short term rental as well. What a great experience!

This was an amazing experience! We had an amazing guide and he was very helpful throughout the whole experience. The horses are very well-trained and easy to manage. They made me and my family feel very safe riding the horses and helped us the entire time. Absolutely loved it, highly recommended!

This was our second time here and we loved it every bit as the first. The trails gorgeous and the staff here is so friendly. Our guide was Sierra both times and would definitely request her again, she was so sweet & patient with my 3 year old daughter, who has a intense passion for horses. We will definitely be back!

It was a nice ride. The owners were super sweet. I wanted to go on the longer ride, but my boyfriend wasn't into lol. He likes horses, but his legs don't, lol. I did enjoy it. it just wasn't the views I was looking for on horseback. But I would recommend for anyone wanting to scratch the itch.

The Davy Crockett horse riding was a fun experience. My husband and I called before and reserved for a half hour experience but they helped us extend it to an hour on the day. We were matched with our horses, Lady for my husband and Jomama for me. Our horses mostly wanted to eat grass and kept stopping. This ensured that we learnt a lot of horse riding skills compared to others whose horses were well behaved and walked continuously haha 😂 We went through fields, trails, and some steep ups and downs.The only reason for giving 4 stars is that we were placed at the end and could barely hear the guide. They were very particular on tips for the guide but not very particular if everyone could hear the guide.Restrooms are available at the starting point. Parking is easily available and directions to get to the stables from Townsend were pretty clear. I would recommend a visit to the Tucckalachee caverns (it is just 5 minutes away) and it was very good!

It was a wonderful experience . I was initially hesitant to get on the horse but once it started it all felt okay. It was a one hour ride. The views in the mountains was beautiful. We need to book slot in advance. They charged approximately 35$ for adults and 15$ for kids.

We booked a one hour ride and it was amazing. Our horses were awesome and knew exactly what to do. The guide was a blast. We got lucky to be able to ride with just us and the guide. He reassured me of being nervous, turning this trip into an amazing experience. We saw owls and deer on our ride. Do not horseback ride in a pasture. He had us on all sorts of trails.

Had a great trail ride yesterday with my wife and Scott as our guide. Beautiful morning trail ride for 1.5 hours with the leaves falling and the sounds of nature all around. It was so relaxing and Scott was great to talk with on the ride. We will be back.

Each horse matched our personalities. Did well picking horses for the kids. Guides were professional and courteous. Started on time. Rode through the mountains and woods were great! Worth every penny! Would do it again!

I took my adult son who has Downs Syndrome who has never ridden before. They were able to get him into saddle on the first try. They were very patient and made sure that my son felt safe and comfortable with horse. The guides and owner were wonderful. The horses were gentle. It was an hour ride through wooded land with many hills and valleys. Thanks so much for giving Robert a wonderful time today. He was all smiles at end of ride.

Amazing people and amazing horses! My siblings and I did a half day ride with our guide Scott and his horse Summer. As an experienced rider and horsewoman I don’t often bother with “trail rides” as most stables are one hour nose to tail and the horses could walk the path in their sleep. But since I was going to be down in Smokey Mountains NP hiking anyway I figured I’d look for a stable that maybe had some actual trail riding options. I found Davy Crockett Riding Stables and I took the chance on the half day ride. I was not disappointed, and will definitely be back if we are ever down there again.

This place was beyond what I could have imagined. We went as a surprise for my daughter, who's been wanting to go horseback riding for quite a while now. A few of us were a little intimidated by horses but went along to ensure my daughter would have a good time. We ended up having a blast! We even wanted to go another round once the trip was over. The staff was very engaging and knowledgeable about the area and the horses themselves. Even our guide, who was pretty new, was awesome and made us all feel very comfortable during our time with her! This family has been doing this for 50 years and you can definitely tell! Can't wait for our next visit!

Amazing experience for my family. The 5 of us went on a 1.5 hour ride with them and could not be more satisfied. The staff was fantastic and professional. The horses were all a blast and were extremely well cared for by the stables. I would definitely go back for another adventure if we are back in town. 5 star experience for us!!!

My 9 year old Nephew had been asking to go horseback riding. We were told to try Davy Crockett Stables in Townsend. They have a lot of different rides to choose from: 30, 60, 120, minute rides or half day or full day. We chose the hour ride, but we probably would have also been fine with 30 minutes. (Since the kids had never ridden before and the adults were way out of practice. 😀)The folks working there are very nice and really helped make sure we all had fun. My other Nephew (13) and Niece (11) also went and enjoyed their first ride. They were not confident (and actually pretty scared), but they did great. The horses are beautiful and healthy.The trail was really muddy in places, and there was quite a bit of up and down hills. The views in the field areas were beautiful. I'm sure a ride in the Fall would be breathtaking.After the ride, our guide took pictures of our group with my phone for us.There's a coupon in the local tourist book you can find at nearby businesses.

Friendly staff, make you feel at home, we were greeted by Mr. Kelly who took care of me my wife and my 9 year old daughter as a parent I felt safe knowing she was being looked after while riding and enjoying the scenic trail beautiful healthy horses and very beautiful property only great things to say about Mr.Kelly and all other staff present. My husband and I had so much fun riding at Davy Crockett Riding Stables. The staff was kind, helpful, and down to earth. The horses in our group were calm, obedient, and nice. We had one horse in the group that tried, in the beginning, to stop and turn around, which made the rider a little nervous. However, the tour guide was able to give the rider a few tips, calm the rider, and the rest of the ride was a breeze. There was even a young rider around the age of 8. Our tour guide made the child follow right behind him, make them feel at ease, gave them confidence, and distracted the child with kind jokes, etc.We rode for 1 hour and that was plenty for us.We highly recommend this place and will be returning the next time we're back in TN.

They prefer reservation but we took a chance and just showed up.4 of us.I believe it was the owner or Mgr that took us. She took great care of us. We did the hour and got a little more. We zigzag all over the property woods,mountain, fields and little mud.Great ride. I have my own horses in Florida. So it's not like I'm just a tourist. We rode here 8 yrs ago,my best friend and family were here last year. And my in-laws and kids are all going to be here in a couple weeks. What I'm saying is these people are worth every penny. You can pay more but your not going to get better. If you have little ones this is the perfect place. We will be back.PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO TIP UR GUIDE. THANK YOU FOR GREAT TIME.

so much fun! very easy process calling to make a last minute reservation. we loved our guide, kelly, and our horses, chica and lady! fun time riding through the woods up and down some hills. we even saw wild turkeys! it’s the full experience! we’ll be back!
