I LOVE this vet and there staff so do my fur babies. They're still a lot of the amazing people that where there with Dr.Little and some new ones. These are some of the nicest staff you’ll meet they always answer my questions and try to make me and my babies as comfortable as possible. When it comes to my babies I want what’s best for them and Dekalb animal clinic is the best in our town. Everyone’s saying it’s “money driven” and they “care about money more then animals” is wrong I’ve been a long time member here and yes prices did go up but the WHOLE economy is going up you cant blame them they got to stay in business and get supplies somehow. I highly recommend this place.

Took my Dog(Coco) and Cat(Skittles) today for their annual checkups and want to give a big shoutout to Dr. Dempsey and the rest of the staff. Both pets were treated in a gentle caring way. I highly recommend Dekalb Clinic

DeKalb Animal Clinic is getting two stars ONLY because the front desk folks are so kind. The shady pricing is why we are leaving to go to another vet after almost 12 years. The price sheet they send home for services is most definitely NOT what they charge. No where in their estimates for dental work does it explain that they charge for the amount of time it takes to complete the procedure. No where in they price sheet does it say anything about a cleaning being required. ( it is recommended but not a medical necessity) but you better believe they are going to charge you for it- approx $300.00. No one indicated to me that she would ever need multiple extractions. During her visit in October, she was estimated to be approx 5 years old and of course thinking that she was such a young age, we felt like the procedure was needed. When we took her for her extractions on 4/17/24, her paperwork was updated to indiacte she was 11 years old! How does that even happen? How do you get her age wrong by 6 years? Of course we had no idea of her age as she was a stray when we took her in. My cancellation in December was done through their app, THE PET DESK, which clearly, A. Doesn't work or B. Wasn't being monitored. With that being said, our now 11 year old cat has has a $1,000.00 tooth extraction. That is more than a board certified dentist would have charged on a human. I feel for you if you have to deal with Tia. I had questions about the price and all she gave me was snarky, hateful, condesending remarks. We will be using Dr. Burke going forward and I hope this review helps anyone when they are deciding who to choose for their pet's care. Definitely not the same as it used to be and that is sad for all of us that have used this clinic for many years.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I know I rely on reviews when looking into businesses, especially when it comes to trusting someone with my pets.I have taken my pets to Dekalb animal clinic to see Dr. Little for years. Last summer I made an appointment to have my dog spayed. I called two days prior to the appointment and asked preop procedure, they didn't have the surgery on the schedule.I had pre paid for her surgery way in advance. I paid a reasonable price, from what I heard the cost of the exact same procedure and shots went up over $100 between August and November.November 1st I dropped her off for surgery and was told they would call me when she was done. Around lunch time they called and said she was ready and " everything went great and it was a smooth surgery".When I picked her up the front desk said " I know you pre paid but there is an additional $75 for the pregnancy". I assumed they were looking at the wrong account. She assured me it was my dog who had been pregnant..* My dog is not around any other dogs, she is on a leash AT ALL TIMES, we don't have a yard, she doesn't go to the park, she is only around my neutered male who has been neutered the entire 2 years we have had her. They did not ask ahead of time how I would want to proceed in the event there was. They did not call me during the procedure to inform me.They had called me AFTER the surgery and told me everything went great. No mention of a pregnancy, additional fees, or extra procedures I was not made aware of nor consented to.They waited until I was picking her up to hit me with a fee with NO PROOF she was pregnant. One tech said " its probably for the best there are enough unwanted dogs in the world already".....That is not their decision to make and that is definitely not the response you give when you abort puppies without asking the owner first for consent.I went home in shock and kind of sad for her.I called 5 other vets to get opinions on 1. If a neutered male could get her pregnant and 2. how they handle spays when they discover unknown pregnancies. ALL of them answered that they either ask about it before hand or call during and ask how to proceed.I called Dekalb animal clinic to speak with Dr. Dempsey since it is practically impossible she could have been pregnant and in the off chance she was I wanted to advocate for my pet since this was handled so poorly, unprofessionally, and probably not within acceptable legal practice for a vet.Dr. Dempsey was rude, lacked empathy for the situation, refused to refund the $75 for aborting the puppies without my consent (why should I pay for a procedure I did not consent to ?)Icing on the cake they mailed me a letter 2 days later that stated they will no longer serve our pets and that I need to find a vet I can "trust and respect". All because I questioned her.All I was wanting was for them to admit that they handled the situation poorly and show some consideration for the misconduct. Instead Dr. Dempsey was unprofessional and unempathetic. This is not the trustworthy place it was when Dr. Little was there.

This was a great place to take your pets until Dr Little retired. My dogs have only known Dr Little as he had been their vets from a puppy until now. This used to be a facility that put the needs of the pets first but now it is profit driven and money is put first. Even some of the employees who worked with Dr Little have changed and are no longer concerned with the health needs of your pets. They no longer offer a vaccine only visit . You now must do a well pet visit which runs over $100 just to be able get vaccines . Rabies vaccines are required by law and should be offered without a wellness visit. I'm sure I'm going to be corrected and told Dr Little also required the wellness visit to get vaccines but he did not as my dog has his rabies which he received in late summer. He received the rabies vaccine with a tech vaccine appointment only. I was always offered the choice of a tech visit for vaccines. Several members of my family and myself have taken our pets to Dr Little for over 20 years and will now be looking for another vet because of greed. It's so sad to see everything Dr Little worked for be destroyed . What's even more sad is to see our pets that are our family to be treated so coldly when Dr Little always treated them so warmly and lovingly . The economy is also horrible right now and this is a really bad time to be increasing prices and holding services hostage by requiring other services.

We are fairly new in town. I had a sick pet, reached out to DeKalb animal clinic and received an appointment a couple weeks out. Thankfully I found a different vet that was able to see my dog within 24 hours. When I tried to cancel the appointment nobody answered the phone. The mailbox was full for several days so there was no way to leave a message either. Finally, after five days, I got to the answering machine where I learned that the office has a walk-in day. It would have been nice if the vet tech I had spoken to had mentioned this as I had called the day before the walk-in hours. My pets need a vet that can be reached and has sick appointments available. Glad we found a practice that runs more professional.

We brought our dog here to be neutered and had a great experience. Great prices, friendly and knowledgeable staff, our dog has recovered well and had no complications. We will use them in the future and would recommend to anyone looking for affordable quality care.

We have taken 2 of our 4 legged children into the clinic when our vet was not open. I have to say that on both occasions they made bad situations as easy as possible. Very professional, caring staff and I love Dr. Little's bedside manner and approach to our babies.

We had a bad experience with our previous vet with a spaying of our 6 month old Shih Tzu and she was experiencing several complications after returning to her PREVIOUS Vet and was told she was fine with an oozing open incision that was very puffed out and sent home. I called our groomer and was referred to Dr. Dempsey. I called at 1pm on Friday (Labor Day Weekend) and was treated with empathy and understanding of my concerns over my fur baby. Was put on a very quick hold and when she came back to the phone she had us in the office by 2:45 pm. When we arrived the front office, vet technician were absolutely phenomenal! The office was clean smelling, you would not know you were in a vet's office! Exam rooms were the same way! Dr. Dempsey was very caring, loving and gentle and through with our little 7lb Shih Tzu and explaining everything that was going on and what her treatment plan was going to be. We agreed and I am happy to report that by that afternoon my baby was no longer in pain and that by Saturday afternoon my baby girl was acting and feeling 100% better! Thank you Dr. Dempsey and staff for saving our precious little fur baby! You all are phenomenal and I feel so blessed to have you as our NEW Vetinarian!

We absolutely adore the staff at Dekalb Animal Clinic. They are so friendly and knowledgeable about the health and needs of our dog. My Belgian Malinois can be intense, but they always make us feel welcome and handle him well. I recently brought in a foster puppy for full vaccinations and a check up at the walk in clinic on Wednesday which was great. The vet where we live is totally booked up for a month so we really appreciated having access to the walk in clinic that Dekalb offers. Thanks DAC!

My little dog had a tumor taken out of his mouth at this clinic. I was a nervous wreck but the people there were super nice, called me a couple of hours after surgery to update me then when I picked him up Alissa took me in a room and explained everything to me and even demonstrated the easiest way to give him his meds. Had questions the next day and called and once again Alissa gave me the answers and didn't seem rushed or bothered by my calls. Place was very clean and people were working at a great pace. Hope I don't have to go back but if I di I want feel so nervous. Felt comfortable with the pricing also. Thank everyone for making things easier for me and my little dog is healing well.

The staff at DeKalb Animal Clinic were very professional and expressed genuine compassion for the services that were provided for my dog. I would highly recommend them for any of your pet's needs. When going to pick up my dog after being spayed the Veterinarian Tech explained everything in great detail about the recovery time and instructions for the take home medication. She made sure all of our questions were answered before leaving. The facility was very clean and well organized!

They’re not enough good things I could say. Story: a stray cat came to live w us and we loved him. One of our neighbors shot him in the leg! Dr Dempsey was so kind, treated him and we brought him home. After two months of “rest” in our garage, no improvement. Took him back yesterday and the break in his bone was worse… amputation was needed! We freaked out. We have a cat and dog and our first cat hated “meow meow”. After much deliberation and lack of sleep, I called and said please just put him to sleep. Dr. Dempsey called and said she just couldn’t put him down because he was so precious. She asked if she could have him, perform surgery and take him home as hers! What a woman! 5 star all the way! Bless you dr. Dempsey for your kindness and dedication! 👏👏👏
